The modern day progressive knows instinctively that what they promote is wrong, dishonest, degenerative and caustic to the society but they are wedded to their ideology that has been drummed into them since their were very young children. They know of nothing different as this has been reinforced and reinforced all of their lives. They have lived their entire lives in that progressive bubble all the way through graduate school where the marxist professors etal.......... continuously validated their belief system. The long stated goal of utopia, peace, love, tolerance, acceptance is the prize they have their eye on for the future. No matter how long that take and no matter what they have to do to achieve that. A dichotomy in and of itself.
So when they get called out, caught or busted for their diametrically opposite positions ie......wrong over right, evil over good and immorality over morality they default to a self preservation, defensive position and accuse others of doing exactly what it is that they're doing. They justify their words or deeds.

They are literally unwilling to make a judgement between right and wrong unless you're conservative and disagree with their world view, then you are satan spawned, and 2. They instinctively use this as a tactic to confuse and shift culpability.You can't humiliate them, embarrass them or shame them. They rid themselves of that consciousness a long time ago.
