Remember as a child in a very small town. There was a maybe one mean dog per year which would come near the house. My dad would take the bee-bee's out of a 16 gauge shotgun shell and replace them with rock salt. Then he would shoot the dog. Wouldn't kill it, just send it squealing away. Not one rock salt shot dog ever came near the house again. Just saying.
