If a UK court consents to Julian Assange's extradition to the US in a trial due to resume on Monday, the WikiLeaks co-founder could be sentenced to 175 years behind bars in an American prison. He faces 18 criminal charges related to endangering US national security by conspiring to obtain and disclose classified information.
Stella Morris, Julian Assange's partner and the mother of his two children, has told the Daily Mail that if the WikiLeaks co-founder is extradited to the US, he will almost certainly face "a show trial" there.

Iran to work with China to create national internet system
An Iranian lawmaker says Tehran and Beijing will work together to create a national Internet for Iran as part of a 25-year partnership agreement they are discussing.
China is the world’s worst abuser of Internet freedom, according to Freedom House, while Iran is also known for its harsh Internet censorship, which includes banning tens of thousands of websites and a state-imposed Internet shutdown in November that resulted in tens of millions of Iranians being denied online access.
Closer “cybercooperation” between the two could result in even tighter censorship in the Islamic republic where the Internet is often referred to as the “filternet” due to its many restrictions.
Lawmaker Mohammad Saleh Jokar said earlier this week that work on a national Internet is cited in a section in the draft deal with China that focuses on cybercooperation between the two countries.

Vandenberg Air Force Base officially applies to be US Space Command headquarters
Vandenberg Air Force Base is officially in the running to be the new home to U.S. Space Command.
According to a news release, military officials submitted their full application to the Air Force office that evaluates candidates on Wednesday, officially making the case for why the Central Coast base should be home to U.S. Space Command. This came after a nomination period earlier this year.
U.S. Space Command is the unified combatant command of the U.S. Department of Defense in charge of space warfare.
The command is provisionally headquartered at Colorado Springs, but Air Force officials have been searching for the better part of a year to determine its new home. The new headquarters, wherever it is, would be home to a four-star general, international liaisons and 1,500 military personnel, according to the release.
The command headquarters is not for the U.S. Space Force, which will be based out of the Pentagon as all other U.S. military branches are. As of July, the Air Force said it had received nominations from 26 states to house the new headquarters.
