Yep. The most extreme elements on each side are being depicted/perceived as typical, thus increasing the extremism on the other side. And so on… This positive feedback cycle has been going on for a long time, but it seems to be reaching a critical point.

Facebook and Twitter are becoming places where people are exposed to video after video of the most extreme folks on the other side behaving badly. This makes folks on both sides more personally radicalized, more fear driven, and less inclined to rein in their own fringes.
