I struggled with the issue of humankind before Adam. However, upon further study, there are plenty of sources and references to something of this nature that occurred.

Genesis 4 reads that after Cain killed Abel:

"And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden."

If Adam and Eve and Cain and Abel were the only people at that time, then who are those people in the land of Nod that Cain went to live with?

This is where the stories of pre-Adamic man come from.

The Nag Hammaddi Library has insight into the pre-Adamic race as well. So does the Book of Enoch.

There is enough clues to warrant a proper look at the topic. I believe that to dismiss the possibility of a pre-Adamic race, might be missing an important part of the story.

The only other child that scripture ascribes to Adam is Seth who was consider of pure blood.

Any other children I have ever heard ascribed to Adam, came from relations with some of the pre-Adamic women.

I really do think that the pre-Adamic theory is a big piece of the puzzle. It answers lots of questions and shows from where the evil originated that affected Adam and Eve.

Able was the first child, born of Adam and Eve. But Cain was not of Adam but of the being (satan) who raped Eve by pretending to be god.
