House Foreign Affairs Committee Leader Call For "Investigation" Of Navalny Poisoning
Despite President Trump's comment on Friday that his administration "had not yet seen proof" that Alexei Navalny, the Putin critic who just emerged from a medically induced coma in a German hospital, had been poisoned - like German Chancellor Angela Merkel alleges - a bipartisan group that includes the leaders of the House Foreign Affairs Committee are pushing the administration to launch an investigation, even going so far as to suggest that more sanctions might be necessary.
As to how Washington might go about investigating a crime allegedly committed by a shadowy group of operatives thousands of miles away is another matter left entirely unexplored, apparently.
"If the Russian government is once again determined to have used a chemical weapon against one of its own nationals, additional sanctions should be imposed," Representatives Eliot Engel, the Democratic committee chairman, and Michael McCaul, the panel’s top Republican.
For those who aren't familiar with the New York Congressman, Engel was recently defeated in a Democratic primary by an upstart backed by AOC.
The two lawmakers are hardly the first to suggest that Russia be subjected to some kind of official penalty for the alleged poisoning, Navalny was, according to the German government, poisoned with "military grade" Novichok, described by the NYTimes as a 'fearsome' nerve agent, long employed by spies and assasins,
The same substance was allegedly used in the poisoning of Russia double-agent Sergei Skripal, and his daughter. However, the Skripals, like Navalny, survived the attack. That doeen't exactly bode well for the whole 'fearsome nerve agent' theory. That's not the only factor that undermines the official narrative.
Germany has said it wants the poisoner held accountable, while Russia hasn't opened an investigation.

TikTok Fails To Remove "Terrifying" Suicide Video Which Ended Up Trending
In case the general public needed one more reason to ban China's spying social network, here it is: overnight, TikTok said it was working to remove graphic videos of a man taking his own life and banning users who keep trying to spread the clips on the popular social media platform. It’s the latest example of the ongoing struggle by big tech companies to police their platforms for harmful content amid increasing pressure from regulators.
The video was originally livestreamed on Facebook before being circulated on other platforms including TikTok, the company said. While the company did not give more details about the video, news reports say it has been circulating on TikTok since Sunday and shows a man killing himself according to AP.
“Our systems, together with our moderation teams, have been detecting and blocking these clips for violating our policies against content that displays, praises, glorifies, or promotes suicide,” TikTok said in a statement.
“We are banning accounts that repeatedly try to upload clips,” the company said, adding that it appreciated users who reported the content.
In a follow up from NY Post, the clip is allegedly of a 33-year-old Army veteran from Mississippi who served in Iraq, who shot himself in the head live on Facebook — and social media sites have been scrambling to remove the harrowing footage, which went viral more than a week ago, according to reports. Ronnie McNutt, who worked at a Toyota plant in Blue Springs, New Albany, killed himself in front of his computer on Aug. 31 during a livestream on Facebook, the Daily Star reported.
There were unconfirmed reports that McNutt had lost his job and broken up with his girlfriend.
In the days since, the horrifying footage has been shared on multiple social media platforms, including TikTok, where it reportedly ended up on the video-sharing app’s “For You” trending homepage.
A flood of social media users have expressed their alarm at stumbling on the clip and warned others to avoid watching the bearded vet commit suicide.
“If you see this guy on your FYP [For You page] please scroll up immediately, it’s very gruesome and I highly suggest you stay away from TikTok for a while,” one user said on Twitter, according to the Daily Star.
“I was scrolling TikTok and suddenly there’s a video of a guy that killed themselves with a shotgun and I am seriously warning you DO NOT watch it DO NOT SEARCH FOR IT because it’s very terrifying and gory so pls BE CAREFUL god damn I’m shaking,” another user said.

Andrew Cuomo: ‘Donald Trump Caused the COVID Outbreak in New York’
Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) blamed the outbreak of the Chinese coronavirus in New York entirely on President Trump during Tuesday’s press briefing, criticizing the president for the “too little, too late” travel ban on Europe in March.
“Donald Trump caused the COVID outbreak in New York,” Cuomo said, repeating his claim. “That is a fact. It’s a fact that he admitted and the CDC admitted and Fauci admitted.”
“The China virus, the China virus, the China virus. It was not the China virus,” the governor said, repeating his long-held narrative of the “European virus,” not the China virus, infecting his state:
It was the European virus that came to New York. They missed it. They missed it. The China virus went to Europe. It got on a plane. It went to Europe. They never even thought of the possibility. And then 3 million Europeans got on the plane and came to New York. And they brought the virus. January, they brought the virus. February, they brought the virus. March, they brought the virus. And in mid-March, the federal government does a travel ban from Europe. Mid-March.
“Too little, too late,\ Mr. President. He caused the COVID outbreak in New York. Donald Trump,” he continued, also casting blame on Trump’s “incompetent” Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institutes of Health (NIH), and Department of Homeland Security.
Cuomo, a consistent critic of the president, has long maintained that the “European virus” infected New York, repeating the claim during his speech at last month’s virtual Democratic National Convention.
“In fact, [the White House] didn’t even see it coming. The European virus infected the northeast while the White House still fixated on China,” Cuomo said. “The virus had been attacking us for months before they even knew it was here.”

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, since May, has said there is “enormous evidence” that the coronavirus originated in a Wuhan lab. A month prior, federal intelligence officials confirmed that the coronavirus did originate in China.
“There’s enormous evidence that that’s where this began,” Pompeo said in reference to a Wuhan lab. “We’ve said from the beginning that this was a virus that originated in Wuhan, China. We took a lot of grief for that from the outset. But I think the whole world can see now”:
Cuomo’s assertion that the coronavirus “had been attacking us for months before they even knew it was here” does not acknowledge that the president banned travel from China as early as January.
At the time, progressives accused Trump of implementing a “racist” travel ban. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) even urged Americans to visit San Franciso, California’s Chinatown while actively working on legislation, dubbed the “No Ban Act,” to prevent the president from implementing travel bans designed to protect Americans at home.
Trump issued a travel ban for Europe in March as CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield identified Europe as the “real threat” to the U.S. at that moment in time.
“We closed the front door with the China travel ban, which was right, but we left the back door open,” Cuomo said during an April briefing.

US Dow Falls 632 Points as Tech Stocks Extend Losses
US stocks extended their dip into negative territory for the third day on Tuesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average index falling more than 600 points as technology shares continued to undergo a meltdown amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
At closing bell, the Dow had slid into the red by 632.42 points, the S&P 500 had fallen by 95.12 points, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite had plunged by 465.44 points. Earlier trading saw the Dow plummet from green territory by 600 points, whereas the Nasdaq fell over 3%.
The closing figures prove to be the latest in the New York Stock Exchange’s worst stock sell-offs in over five months amid the novel coronavirus pandemic, which initially sent American and foreign stocks plunging after COVID-19-containment measures imposed by various countries shuttered the global economy.
However, the current downfall into red territory has largely been driven by declining tech stocks that previously benefited from the massive spike in Americans resorting to remotely working, learning and shopping in an effort to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
“I think we should start to anticipate a rotation, the momentum behind tech is going to ease,” Seema Shah, a chief strategist at Principal Global Investors, told the Wall Street Journal.
Tuesday trading saw shares of Facebook, Amazon, Microsoft and Google-parent Alphabet down by more than 3%, as Apple’s stock price plunged by over 5%. Additionally, Zoom Video Communications, the popular video chat software tapped by several companies and institutions to stream courses and business meetings during the pandemic, saw its share price fall by 4.43%
“As we’re seeing easing lockdowns and the prospect of a vaccine, people are beginning to go back to a more normal way of life and reliance on tech is starting to fade from the peak where it was at the height of the lockdown,” Shah noted.
Elsewhere, shares belonging to electric car company Tesla sank by 21.06% on Tuesday, marking its worst one-day drop ever. The company's stock tumble comes after the vehicle maker failed to be added to the S&P 500 index.
Although investor concerns were mostly influenced by the tech industry, political issues, particularly in regards to US-China relations, have also weighed on trading matters. In response to US President Donald Trump announcing Monday that he was considering “decoupling” economically from China, Beijing officials on Tuesday launched a global initiative regarding data security after accusing the US of “bullying.”

House Judiciary Republicans Send Letter to Nadler Demanding He Denounce Violent Left-Wing Extremism, Acknowledge Antifa is Not a ‘Myth’
House Judiciary Republicans on Tuesday sent Chairman Jerrod Nadler (D-NY) a letter demanding he denounce violent left-wing extremism, acknowledge Antifa is not a ‘myth’ and immediately convene a Committee hearing to examine the civil unrest seen in Democrat-run cities across the US.
Nadler previously called Antifa a “myth that’s only being spread in Washington, D.C.”
Republican Reps. Jim Jordan (OH), Ken Buck (CO), Mike Johnson (LA), and Jim Sensenbrenner (WI) sent Nadler a 3-page letter lambasting the Judiciary Committee Chairman for wasting the “first twenty months of your chairmanship on fruitless partisan investigations in furtherance of your obsession with attacking President Trump.”
“We urge you not to waste any more time. The jurisdiction of the Judiciary Committee provides you with a unique authority to condemn the violence and disorder in Democrat-run cities,” the GOP lawmakers wrote.
“Democrats have failed to stop the violence and destruction in [Portland, Minneapolis, Kenosha, Seattle, New York City]” the GOP lawmakers said asserting that President Trump has sought to restore order to these cities.
“There are two specific actions that you can take now to help restore law and order to Democrat-run American cities: 1. Publicly and forcefully denounce left-wing violent extremism and acknowledge that left-wing violence is neither “imaginary” nor a “myth.” 2. Immediately convene a hearing of the Judiciary Committee to examine the civil unrest caused by left-wing violent extremists in Democrat-run cities. This is an issue of life and death that the Committee must not ignore,”

Ben Sasse Calls For Repealing The 17th Amendment
Republican Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse called for the repeal of the 17th Amendment to the United States Constitution in an op-ed published Tuesday by The Wall Street Journal.
Proposed in 1912 and ratified by 36 state legislatures on April 8, 1913, the amendment required U.S. senators to be elected by popular votes in each state. Prior to its enactment, Article I of the Constitution mandated that each state legislature vote to send two senators to Washington.
Sasse’s op-ed, titled, “Make the Senate Great Again,” suggested several Senate reforms “aimed at promoting debate, not ending it.”
“What would the Founding Fathers think of America if they came back to life?” Sasse began. “Their eyes would surely bug out first at our technology and wealth. But I suspect they’d also be stunned by the deformed structure of our government. The Congress they envisioned is all but dead. The Senate in particular is supposed to be the place where Americans hammer out our biggest challenges with debate. That hasn’t happened for decades—and the rot is bipartisan.”

The following are the positions of the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association (CSPOA), on important issues of the day.
The County Sheriff
America needs to make a strong turn around to get back on the freedom track laid for us by our Founders. We believe it can’t be done from the top down, due to many factors, not the least of which is corruption and entrenched bureaucracies in high places. We must, and we can, accomplish this turn- around starting locally at the county level, and lower. The office of county sheriff is the last hope of making this happen, and we are witnessing great deeds of protection, service, and interposition across America by courageous sheriffs who only want to serve the people who elected them.
Immigration
America has always welcomed immigrants to our shores. When we were truly a “melting pot”, our culture and prosperity was strengthened because of immigration. Today things are much different. We are a nation of laws, and our immigration laws are not being enforced. Further, immigrants are not assimilating into our culture as they once did. This results in devastating consequences culturally and economically. The vast majority of immigrants today come here illegally, many committing crimes as they do. Administration policies actually encourage people to come here illegally, and the flood of children and thousands of others, including entire villages, that overwhelm our Border Patrol are causing a crisis that cannot be understated. These are the things that we must do immediately:
Station National Guard and regular military troops on our southern border immediately to close off the flood. We should defend our own borders before we defend the borders of dozens of foreign countries as we are now doing. Armed drones on the border should be deployed using those we bring home from the Middle East.
Summarily deport all illegal aliens as they manage to get across our border. The only exceptions would be individually considered and approved requests for asylum. Deport all illegal aliens caught committing crimes in the US. No exceptions.
Enforce laws against hiring of illegal aliens.
State governments have a duty and full authority to protect their own boundaries and to do whatever they deem necessary to make up for lax or non-existent federal enforcement.
After the border is secured, not before, legislation should be considered that will improve and streamline our immigration process and place reasonable limits on the numbers coming in.
County Sheriffs must use their authority to protect their citizens from abuse and violation of their rights by the invasion of illegal aliens.
Federal control of land within the boundaries of a state
Constitutional limits on ownership and/or control of land within a sovereign state should be returned to our policies and practices. States should have a plan for assuming control of all lands within their boundaries not obtained by Constitutional means. Article 1, Section 8, Clause 17 states that the Federal Government has the authority to:
…exercise like Authority over all Places purchased by the Consent of the Legislature of the State in which the Same shall be, for the Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings;
The federal agencies now claiming control of land within a state should be drastically downsized and/or dismantled. County Sheriffs in these states should take their rightful position and use their authority to assist in the transfer of control of the land, and prosecution of violations of citizens’ rights by federal authorities.
