OK, so this is kind of "out there" but late one night long ago an anon who had answered several questions with what appeared to be insider-level knowledge replied to a question on how Q can possibly know in advance what will happen in the future by saying that both sides have "time machines", and that is why the timeline keeps changing. I took "time machine" to mean sophisticated AI that allows them to game play different strategies to see which have the desired effect, though it is possible that he meant "time machine" literally. Either way, I think we are watching a movie, but one that requires constantly edited.
