I believe the song Q posted today was just as simple as light to dark. Not familiar with Max, I looked into him and noted that:

"On the Nature of Daylight", is used in both the opening and closing sequences of the sci-fi film Arrival

So I then looked at Arrival:

Aliens arrive on earth and contact 13 countries. Turns out their gift is their language which teaches the mind to break the time line. One of the characters uses that. She has a premonition of a United Nations event celebrating newfound unity following the alien arrival, in which Shang thanks her for having persuaded him to stop the attack by calling his private number and reciting his wife's dying words: "War doesn't make winners, only widows.
