I found Hussein and Michael's bar records in the Illinois attorney registration database, before they hid them. All the records stated was "license status" = "voluntarily relinquished." I then checked with an attorney buddy who was on the DC bar board on professional responsibility. He told me that meant that they were about to be publicly sanctioned for wrongdoing, and in order to avoid the publicity, they cut a plea deal and agreed to give up their licenses.
Neither of them can practice law again.
However, since the rules of the SC don't require that Justices have law degrees or licenses, Hussein (and Mike) could be appointed to the Court.
