Perhaps but from following the stories of the nephilim I'm thinking they might have come after the event.
My working hypothesis is that prior to the event there is a high likelihood that two species of hominid co existed Homo sapien and Homo capensis (elongated heads), after the event so much and so many were lost the to species cross bread creating a new species let's call them Homo sapien capensis this new hybrid species might have then exterminated the species they saw as a threat Homo capensis and then altered the genetics of Homo sapien in an attempt to enslave them (think of the Oedipus story actually being about 3 species) When they edited the genetics they created Homo sapien sapien (humans) then when they realized they are pretty much sterile as a species (just like a mule is) they attempted to breed with Homo sapien sapien and created the

The only thing is yesterday he went all DEW and I had to shake my head.
I don't know why he didn't realize the distance of the anomaly he spotted and proposed to be a DEW was many hundred if not over a thousand miles.
The upcoming megawatt lasers will be lucky to make it to around 75-100 miles and thats not for a few years the current ones have a range of about 20-50 miles
Even if there was a black budget super laser no one knows about I doubt it would be going much further than 150-200 miles never mind the hundreds of miles that the anomaly was.
I guess he just got excited and over reacted a bit, cause he's a fairly smart guy, at least when it comes to seismology.
