Elem. School Teacher Charged With Distribution Of Child Sexual Abuse Videos After Schoolroom Rug Was Pictured

Jacksonville, Florida – United States Attorney Maria Chapa Lopez announces that Thomas Lester Hazouri, Jr. (40, Jacksonville Beach) has been arrested and charged by federal criminal complaint with distributing child pornography. Hazouri faces a minimum mandatory penalty of 5 years, and up to 20 years, in federal prison, a $250,000 fine, and a potential life term of supervised release. Hazouri has been detained pending a hearing scheduled for September 11, 2020.

According to the complaint, MediaLab, the company that hosts the Kik online messaging application (“app”), notified the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) that one of its users, identified by user name “mybfsgaynotme,” had uploaded suspected child sexual abuse videos on March 26, 2020, using an account whose subscriber information included the email address “tommyhazouri@gmail.com.” Further investigation by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office revealed the internet protocol address used to distribute these videos on Kik resolved to the residence of Thomas Lester Hazouri, Jr. in Jacksonville Beach. JSO determined that Hazouri was a second grade teacher assigned to Mayport Elementary School in Jacksonville.

A search warrant was issued for the Kik account for user “mybfsgaynotme,” and this account contained 19 images and 45 videos that depicted child sexual abuse. On August 6, 2020, JSO detectives and other personnel executed a search warrant at Hazouri’s residence and seized an Apple iPhone XR, as well as two laptop computers. Forensic examination of the iPhone revealed that it contained 123 images and three videos depicting child sexual abuse, including depictions of very young children. The email address “tommyhazouri@gmail.com” originally reported to NCMEC in March 2020 was the email address used for the Gmail, Tinder, and Uber accounts on this iPhone. JSO detectives observed a tattoo on Hazouri’s wrist that matched the tattoo shown in a photo of a male masturbating that was recovered from the Kik account for user “mybfsgaynotme.” JSO also confirmed that a particular rug pictured in a photo recovered in this same Kik account matched an actual rug in Hazouri’s classroom at Mayport Elementary School. On August 19, 2020, JSO officers arrested Hazouri in Jacksonville.

On August 27, 2020, JSO and the FBI confirmed that on March 26, 2020, the Kik user of the “mybfsgaynotme” account distributed at least four videos depicting child sex abuse to several other Kik users.

This case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Duval County School Police Department. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney D. Rodney Brown.

Hunter Biden teamed with Chinese military supplier to acquire dual-use Michigan auto parts maker

Biden’s investment fund BHR co-purchased Henniges Automotive with Chinese military contractor AVIC, which has been identified as front for China's military and was sanctioned before the Obama administration approved Biden-connected sale.

Co-buyer AVIC identified as front for China's military, and sanctioned before Obama administration approved Biden-connected sale.

As he was sewing up the Democrat nomination this spring, Joe Biden surprised many in foreign policy circles by publishing an essay arguing it was time to "get tough with China" and to stop its "robbing the United States and American companies of their technology and intellectual property."

For Biden, a four-decade advocate of trade and friendly relations with Beijing, it was a stunning turnabout that signaled the Democrat was concerned President Trump was winning the election-year battle over U.S.-China policy as tensions in the South China Sea, a trade war, and growing espionage cases created a Cold War-like atmosphere with China.

But for U.S. security experts, it was remarkable for another reason: An investment fund named Bohai Harvest RST (BHR) partly owned and directed by Biden's son, Hunter, and Secretary of State John Kerry's stepson, Chris Heinz, had just a few years earlier played a vital role in facilitating the sale of the Michigan-based auto parts maker Henniges Automotive to one of China's main military aircraft makers, Aviation Industry Corporation of China or AVIC.

That 2015 transaction approved by the Obama administration and its Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) came just 15 months after the United States publicly added one of AVIC's subsidiaries to a Commerce Department blacklist (known as the "Entity List") and just months before the Obama administration resumed patrols in the South China Sea because of increased Beijing military aggression in the region, where AVIC-built military jets partake in China's activities.

The timing has left many, including Senate Finance Committee chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), questioning whether the CFIUS decision whitewashed security concerns because the vice president's son was involved in the transaction. Those concerns were heightened this June when the Pentagon listed the entire AVIC conglomerate on a list of companies subject to future sanctions because of its ties to the People's Liberation Army.

File

DODEntitiesLostJune2020.pdf

Grassley demanded a briefing from Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin last year, saying he was concerned because the Obama administration allowed the transaction to proceed even though Henniges possessed "anti-vibration technologies with military applications" and AVIC had a history of ties to China's military aggression dating to at least 2007. Officials said what Grassley learned in a classified briefing only heightened his concerns.

Germany hands over Navalny’s test results to OPCW

Russia is a member of the OPCW

BERLIN, September 9. /TASS/. Germany has handed over the test results of Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), a representative of the German Defense Ministry stated during Wednesday’s briefing.

"The test results have been handed over to the organization [OPCW - TASS]. Russia is a member of this organization," he said.

For her part, German Government Deputy Spokesperson Martina Fitz noted that in the wake of this step, Berlin does not see the conditions for Germany to hand over its conclusive evidence to Russia in relation to Navalny’s case. "We maintain our position, calling on the Russian side to provide information [on Navalny]," she said.

Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny was rushed to a local hospital in the Siberian city of Omsk on August 20 after collapsing on the Tomsk-Moscow flight. He fell into a coma and was hooked up to a ventilator in the intensive care unit. On August 22, he was airlifted to the Charite hospital in Berlin. Last week, the German government claimed that Navalny had been poisoned with a Novichok-type toxic agent.

Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said later that Russia is ready for comprehensive cooperation with Germany. He noted that before Navalny was transferred to Berlin, no toxic substances had been found in his system.

On September 7, the German clinic informed that Navalny had been brought out of a coma, and that he is gradually being taken off artificial ventilation.

Invoking The Insurrection Act

“Don’t be fooled by the media’s claim of ‘mostly peaceful’ protests. This is an insurrection, and it needs to end,” Fitton stated in last week’s Weekly Update.

The unabating insurrections across America’s cities are doing little to reassure Americans of a secure election day this year, according to Fitton. As the Judicial Watch President explains, “I’m concerned that the violence will seep into election day.… the president has to step in if the governors refuse to end the violence.”

The insurrectionist-led attacks on innocent Americans in our cities, starting with Washington, D.C. – have shown that the “violence is deadly, the violence is real.” The mob-like attacks, such as those on guests of the president’s White House RNC Convention Speech have highlighted how District residents “can’t trust the left wing politicians running the DC Police,” which in Fitton’s words, did little to contain or stop the violent extremists surrounding the White House complex two weeks ago. Just weeks before the RNC Convention, when the threat of insurrectionists forced the president into his bunker, Fitton argues that absent the “the president intervening to call in authorities, who knows, they could have lost the city!”

All of this serves to highlight what Fitton describes as a growing danger to our Republic. “It is not safe if politicians are not going to confront and disrupt the leftist insurrectionists trying to overthrown our Republic.” The president, as Fitton explains, “could be all that stands between the rule of law and the end of the Constitutional Republic.” Moreover, he states “the president should be encouraged to invoke the Insurrection Act in Portland and Seattle – and federalize the DC police.”

“This is deadly serious, and we have to think about how it is we protect the Republic under law… don’t be fooled by the media’s claim of ‘mostly peaceful’ protests. This is an insurrection, and it needs to end.”

If you’re concerned about your security on election day, contact your local officials and/or representatives today, and encourage them to end the violence now!

Chairman Schiff Announces New Whistleblower Complaint

House Intelligence Committee Releases Whistleblower Reprisal Complaint Alleging Serious Misconduct By Senior Trump Administration Officials to Politicize, Manipulate and Censor Intelligence to Benefit Trump / PRESS RELEASE

Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), the Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, announced that, as part of its ongoing investigation into the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A), the Committee received a whistleblower reprisal complaint alleging serious wrongdoing by officials at the Department and reprisal against former I&A Acting Under Secretary Brian Murphy for making protected disclosures. Mr. Murphy filed the whistleblower reprisal complaint on September 8, 2020 with the DHS Office of Inspector General.

After receiving the complaint, Chairman Schiff sent a letter today requesting that Mr. Murphy appear for a deposition pursuant to a subpoena on Monday, September 21, 2020.

The whistleblower reprisal complaint depicts a sustained and disturbing pattern of misconduct by senior Trump Administration officials within the White House and DHS relating to the activities of DHS’s I&A—an element of the U.S. Intelligence Community which Mr. Murphy led from May until August of this year, before he was reassigned to DHS’s Management Directorate, and where he previously served as Principal Deputy Under Secretary beginning in March 2018. The complaint alleges repeated violations of law and regulations, abuses of authority, attempted censorship of intelligence analysis, and improper administration of an intelligence program related to Russian efforts to influence the U.S. elections.

After sending the letter with the complaint, Chairman Schiff released the following statement:

“The whistleblower retaliation complaint filed by former Acting Under Secretary for Intelligence and Analysis Brian Murphy outlines grave and disturbing allegations that senior White House and Department of Homeland Security officials improperly sought to politicize, manipulate, and censor intelligence in order to benefit President Trump politically. This puts our nation and its security at grave risk.

“Mr. Murphy’s allegations are serious — from senior officials suppressing intelligence reports on Russia’s election interference and making false statements to Congress about terrorism threats at our southern border, to modifying intelligence assessments to match the President’s rhetoric on Antifa and minimizing the threat posed by white supremacists. We have requested Mr. Murphy’s testimony before the Committee, pursuant to subpoena if necessary, alongside other already scheduled interviews with other DHS officials.

“But this complaint also puts into stark relief how dangerous and harmful it is for American voters that the Trump Administration has decided to end briefings to Congress about foreign interference in our upcoming election. Last month, in a bid to prevent informing the American people and its elected representatives about Russian efforts to help President Trump and hurt Joe Biden, the Trump Administration announced that it would cease briefing Congress in person, and rely on written products alone. But if written products are being altered for political reasons, or worse withheld entirely, how can the American people trust that this Administration will inform voters on how foreign powers are trying to influence them, or where the threats really come from, and protect our national security— particularly when it contradicts the President’s preferred narrative or personal political interests? In short, they can’t, and that’s dangerous.

“We will get to the bottom of this, expose any and all misconduct or corruption to the American people, and put a stop to the politicization of intelligence.”

Maine Dem Spiked Ethics Probe Into Partymate’s Teen Sex Abuse

Sara Gideon blocked investigation into her handling of colleague's sexual misconduct

Democratic Senate candidate Sara Gideon spiked an ethics probe into how she handled allegations that one of her Democratic colleagues in the state legislature sexually abused teen girls.

The speaker of the Maine House of Representatives rallied Democrats in 2018 to vote against an ethics investigation into how her office dealt with sexual misconduct allegations against Democratic state legislator Dillon Bates. Paula Sutton, the Republican state legislator who called for the ethics probe, said that Gideon's decision to oppose the investigation demonstrates that Gideon was more concerned about political expediency than protecting children.

"Sara Gideon had an opportunity for full transparency, and she voted it down," Sutton told the Washington Free Beacon. "They just want to crush the problem, because they're afraid to deal with it. It's just a lack of courage—a complete lack of conviction and courage."

Gideon previously acknowledged that she heard rumors about Bates for months, but called for his resignation only after a news outlet reported about his alleged misconduct. Neither Gideon nor Bates responded to requests for comment.

Bates, a former drama teacher and athletics coach at Maine high schools, allegedly groomed underaged girls to have inappropriate relationships with him, according to an anonymous victim cited by the Bollard, the monthly magazine that first broke the news in August 2018. Gideon demanded Bates's resignation on the same day the Bollard story ran, and the disgraced legislator resigned two weeks later. While Bates denied the allegations and the state never charged him with a crime, Maine's Department of Education declined to renew his teaching license due to the allegations.

Maine Democratic leaders knew about the allegations for months before the Bollard story's publication, but Gideon said she did not take action after Bates denied the allegations. A senior Maine Democratic aide offered a full-throttled defense of Bates to a different news outlet earlier that year, saying there was "absolutely no truth" to the allegations.

After Bates resigned in mid-August, Sutton called for an ethics probe specifically into how the Gideon office dealt with the sexual misconduct allegations. She hoped the probe would uncover whether Gidoen sought to cover up Bates's sexual misconduct for months, as well as give Bates a chance to exonerate himself in a public space.

Police forensics join AI algorithms to track down who wrote the Bible, and when

An unprecedented Tel Aviv University study combines human handwriting know-how with cutting-edge computer science to analyze literacy of Judahites in 7th century BCE Arad

Old-fashioned police forensics analysis met hi-tech computer algorithms in a new study of 2,500-year-old pottery sherds, in which Tel Aviv University researchers conclude that literacy was widespread enough for the fledgling People of the Book to have penned parts of the Bible in the 7th century BCE.

“The high literacy rate detected within the small Arad stronghold… demonstrates widespread literacy in the late 7th century BCE Judahite military and administration apparatuses, with the ability to compose biblical texts during this period a possible by-product,” write the researchers.

This is the first study to combine forces between AI algorithms and human forensics know-how, the researchers note. The study, “Forensic document examination and algorithmic handwriting analysis of Judahite biblical period inscriptions reveal significant literacy level,” was published September 9 in the prestigious online PLOS journal.

What Exactly Connects the White House, Jerusalem, Belgrade and Pristina?

There is a new, ironic joke making the rounds on Serbian social networks these days: What do a Serb and a Kosovo Albanian say to each other now when parting? Next year in Jerusalem! This seemingly incongruous specter of two non-Semitic peoples mouthing the traditional Jewish prayer is directly connected to one of the most important – and controversial – outcomes of the “historic,” agreement on “economic normalization” signed by the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, and the “prime minister” of “Kosovo” (Serbia’s autonomous province, which unilaterally proclaimed its independence in February 2008), Avdullah Hoti, signed in the presence of a beaming Donald Trump in the White House on September 4, 2020.

Namely, besides the expected infrastructure deals, commitment to a regional free trade zone dubbed as the “mini-Schengen,” and matters related to energy and telecommunications (more on that later), the agreement also covered non-economic matters such as a one-year moratorium on seeking membership in international organizations (“Kosovo”) and in lobbying for “Kosovo’s” de-recognition or blocking its recognition (Serbia), freedom of religion and protection of religious sites, missing persons and the resettling of refugees and internally displaced people. But these could still be explained as being relevant to the consequences of the Kosovo conflict of the late 1990s.

However, the parties also agreed to join the US global crusade to decriminalize homosexuality in the 69 countries that are still holding out, to designate Hezbollah as a terrorist organization and, sensationally, to mutual recognition with Israel (“Kosovo”) and moving their embassy to Jerusalem (Serbia in writing and “Kosovo” in a subsequent oral pledge to Benjamin Netanyahu).

Most observers of international affairs have at least a rudimentary familiarity with the Kosovo issue, one of the world’s main unresolved conflicts of the past quarter century or so, the roots of which run back hundreds of years into the past. In brief, Kosovo Field (or the Field of Blackbirds) was the site of a monumental clash between Serbian and Ottoman Turk forces on June 28, 1389, in which both the Serbian and the Turkish rulers were killed, but which was subsequently enshrined as a Serb national myth/covenant, symbolizing willingness to fight for one’s freedom in the face of overwhelming odds and choosing the heavenly over the earthly kingdom. After the Ottomans finally overran Serbia and that part of Europe some 70 years later (it took them a while to recover, while the Serbian state was fatally weakened under the usual pressure from both west and east) – eventually reaching the gates of Vienna – Albanian converts to Islam gradually settled today’s Kosovo, using their newly gained privileges to repress or push out the former Serbian Christian population. The Serbian Army liberated Kosovo 523 years later, during the First Balkan War, incorporating it into Serbia and then Yugoslavia. Fast-forwarding to the early 1990s, using the Kosovo Albanians as a tool of weakening Yugoslavia and Serbia and deposing its leader Slobodan Milosevic, the US threw its support behind the terrorist Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) and, under the guise of NATO, bombed Serbia in the spring of 1999. The bombing ended with the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 1244 of June 10, 1999, by which Kosovo and Metohija (the official name of the Serbian autonomous province) remained a part of Serbia pending a final peace agreement. However, after multiple failed negotiations and supported by most Western and Islamic countries, Kosovo Albanian leaders unilaterally declared independence on February 17, 2008, which Serbia – along with the BRICS countries, among others – has refused to recognize to this day.

Russia To Send 1,000 Fighters From Northeast Syria To Libya: Anadolu Agency

Russia was preparing to send 1,000 Syrian fighters to Libya to reinforce the Libyan National Army (LNA), the Anadolu Agency reported on September 9, citing local source.

The Turkish-state run news agency claimed that Russia had recruited the Syrian fighters from the northeastern city of al-Qamishli, which is located on the border with Turkey. The city is jointly controlled by government forces and the Syrian Democratic Forces.

“They [the fighters] are between the ages of 20 and 45 and will each receive $2,000 per month to be a part of Haftar’s forces for five months,” the Anadolu Agency quoted the sources as saying.

The Anadolu Agency claimed that Russia had so far deployed 5,000 Syrian private military contractors in Libya. The same number was mentioned in a recent report by the Pentagon’s Inspector General.

In the last few months, a series of reports by Syrian pro-opposition sources and Turkish outlets have accused Russia of deploying Syrian pro-government fighters in Libya to support the LNA. So far, there has been no evidence to back these claims.

On the other hand, there is sufficient evidence on the deployment of thousands of Syrian militants by Turkey in Libya. The numbers are reportedly between 5,000 and 18,000.

DAY THREE ASSANGE HEARING—Defense Witness Dismantles Key Elements of Government Case

In the afternoon session, Trevor Timm, a trained lawyer and executive director of the Freedom of the Press Foundation, took the virtual witness stand for the defense and in sparring with prosecutor James Lewis QC on cross examination singlehandedly dismantled key parts of the government’s case.

Over the past two days the government has stressed two key points: that it is not prosecuting Assange for publishing but for revealing the names of informants. Timm testified that in fact the indictment is for passively receiving and possessing classified information beyond those documents that revealed informants’ names.

The bigger point Timm made was that it was a consensus view of First Amendment advocates and media organizations that while revealing the names of informants may be unethical, it is not illegal. He said that it was an editorial decision whether to publish such names, and while media organizations might disagree, it was not up to the government to make editorial decisions.

It is a point we have long made that there is no statute against revealing informants names. The government considers their names defense information protected by the Espionage Act. Timm further testified that the U.S. Supreme Court has in the past protected speech, however unsavory.

“I’m not saying WikiLeaks had perfect editorial judgement or that The New York Times does, but that doesn’t mean that differences of opinion make it illegal,” Timm said. ” The government should not decide whether it was sound or not. The decision is whether it is illegal and this publication was not illegal, and that the indictment making it illegal would criminalize journalism.”

He added: “In the Manning trial the U.S. government could point to no specific deaths” from the revelation of informants’ names. “But regardless, the First Amendment is not a balancing act between harm and benefit. Sometimes it allows for odious speech. Some harm might result from speech, but our people have determined that having wide latitude for journalists and free speech make sit vital they are protected, even if it comes close to a line that makes us uncomfortable.”

“Why should your opinion be more important than what a jury decides?” Lewis shot back.

“On constitutional issues it goes beyond a jury,” Timm said. “A judge could rule it unconstitutional before it gets to a jury.” Lewis then told Timm that journalism Mark Feldstein, who testified on Tuesday for the defense, said it was “wrong to publish names putting them in moral danger.”

“I didn’t say it was right or I agreed, but merely that it would be unconstitutional for Assange to prosecuted for this act,” Timm responded.

Libya’s Waring Parties Agree To Find “Comprehensive Political Settlement” During Morocco Talks

Delegations of the Government of National Accord (GNA) and the House of Representatives (HoR) had agreed to reach a “comprehensive political settlement” to end the war in Libya during talks in the coastal Moroccan city of Bouznika, the Maghreb Arabe Press reported on September 9.

In a joint statement, the warring sides said the talks in Bouznika were “positive and constructive,” revealing that important understandings have been reached.

“The talks resulted in important understandings that include setting clear standards to eliminate corruption, stop public money waste and end the state of institutional division … Everyone hopes for good and tangible results that will pave the way for the completion of the comprehensive political settlement process throughout the entire nation,” the statement, which was read by Mohamad Khalifa Najim, a respective of the GNA’s High Council of State, says.

Five members of the High Council of State and five others from the HoR are taking part in Bouznika talks, which started on September 6. The talks are set to end tomorrow.

According to Libyan sources, the two sides are yet to agree on the governor of the Libyan Central Bank, the head of the National Oil Corporation and the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army (LNA).

The GNA and the LNA led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar and backed by the HoR have been at war with each other for around two years now. The conflict drew a Turkish military intervention in late 2019.

The low-level talks between the GNA and the HoR are witnessing some progress. Wider high-level talks will likely follow to cement the results reached in Bouznika.

US Bans Chinese Students From Getting Visas Over Stealing Sensitive Research Fears

The White House has long maintained that Beijing has been engaged in espionage practices, while trying to steal data on American vital tech and even COVID-19 research. Some Chinese students have apparently become embroiled in these allegations.

The United States is "blocking" some graduate and research students from China from obtaining American visas "to prevent them from stealing and otherwise appropriating sensitive research", the acting head of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Chad Wolf, said on Wednesday, as quoted by Reuters.

According to Wolf, this practice especially related to those students "with ties to China's military fusion strategy". In his Wednesday speech, the DHS head reiterated US claims about Beijing's "unjust" business practices and China's alleged attempts to steal coronavirus research. Wolf also apparently accused Beijing of "abusing" student visas to "exploit" American educational establishments, according to Reuters.

In May, Donald Trump signed a presidential proclamation prohibiting certain Chinese graduate students and researchers from entering the United States from 1 June onwards. According to the document, which has an indefinite duration, the move targets those who either implement or support China's “military-civil fusion strategy” which is defined as "actions by or at the behest of the People’s Republic of China to acquire and divert foreign technologies, specifically critical and emerging technologies, to incorporate into and advance [China]’s military capabilities".

The Department of Homeland Security states that in the 2018-2019 academic year, 272,470 undergraduate and graduate students from China were enrolled at American universities, representing the largest number of international students in the United States.

US Accuses China of Espionage and Cyber Attacks

In July, the Trump administration has ordered Beijing to close its Houstan consulate in a bid to "protect American intellectual property" after accusing China of "sponsoring" cyber attacks aimed at stealing the country's research on coronavirus. The US also brought criminal charges against two Chinese nationals suspected of targeting pharmaceutical companies and medical devices manufacturers in alleged spying efforts.

Navy alters course after outcry, says Catholic Masses will continue on bases

After public outcry, which included a petition by LifeSiteNews signed by over 10,000 people, the Navy has reversed course and decided to renew contracts with Catholic priests to celebrate Holy Mass on military bases.

After public outcry, which included a petition by LifeSiteNews signed by over 10,000 people, the Navy has reversed course and decided to renew contracts with Catholic priests to celebrate Holy Mass on military bases. The cost-cutting measure was to be enforced across the country.

Rear Adm. Bette Bolivar, the commander of Navy Region Southwest, announced the reversal of the plan to suspend most contracts for priests on Tuesday, reported the San Diego Union Tribune.

Trump confirmed the news in a tweet this morning:

The United States Navy, or the Department of Defense, will NOT be cancelling its contract with Catholic Priests who serve our men and women in the Armed Forces so well, and with such great compassion & skill. This will no longer be even a point of discussion! @CardinalDolan

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 9, 2020

Vice Admiral Yancey Lindsey, the commander of Naval Installations Command, had previously stated about the original decision: “We have a responsibility to use our limited resources wisely in meeting the needs of our personnel. Therefore, we will reduce redundancies and capture efficiencies by realigning resources.”

The San Diego Union-Tribune, which first reported on the news, explained at the time that “religious services will be cut at bases where those services are readily available in the surrounding community outside the base.”

The newspaper pointed out, “While the Navy has an active-duty component of clergy – the Chaplain Corps – the number of Catholic priests among them is small. To make up for that shortage, the service contracted with priests to lead services on U.S. bases. Those contracts are the ones being canceled.”

The San Diego Union-Tribune quoted Fr. Jose Pimentel, who was contracted to say Mass on naval bases in the San Diego area, as saying, “One issue is discrimination (and) another is the violation of your right to practice your religion.”

‘This Has Gotten Too Deep’: FBI Emails Show Concerns With Michael Flynn Report

FBI emails released by Judicial Watch show that officials had concerns with a story published in March 2017 about former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

“This has gotten too deep,” one FBI investigator wrote to Peter Strzok.

The investigator was responding to a report from The Guardian that U.S. and British intelligence officials had concerns about Flynn’s interactions with a Russian-British woman in 2014.

FBI investigators expressed concern in early 2017 over the publication of a story that suggested Michael Flynn was the target of a Russian honeytrap operation, with one agent saying after the story was published that “this has gotten too deep.”

Peter Strzok, the deputy chief of FBI counterintelligence, also weighed in on the story, which appeared in the Guardian on March 31, 2017.

“WTF is this,” Strzok wrote after receiving the article, according to emails published by Judicial Watch.

“Not great,” he wrote of the story in another email.

The Guardian story said that U.S. intelligence officials “had serious concerns” about Flynn’s appointment as national security adviser because of contacts he had with Russians, including Svetlana Lokhova, a Russian-British researcher at the University of Cambridge.

Flynn met Lokhova during a visit to the Cambridge Intelligence Seminar in February 2014, when he served as director of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA).

The Guardian also reported, citing anonymous sources, that U.S. and British intelligence officials “discussed Flynn’s ‘worrisome’ behaviour” well before he was appointed national security adviser.

The emails released by Judicial Watch show that an investigator in the FBI’s Washington Field Office emailed Strzok with apparent concerns about the story.

“Im [sic] you are tracking, but this has gotten too deep,” the investigator wrote Strzok on April 3, 2017.

“I wasn’t. WTF is this,” Strzok replied.

He forwarded the exchange to FBI lawyer Lisa Page, writing: “Not great.”

The Clearest and Best Video Explanation of the Virus, the Lockdowns, and the Impact

Those of us who have been reading and writing on lockdowns and the Covid-19 virus have been frustrated in competition with media frenzy and disinformation. Many times since February or so, I imagined that the latest study would put an end to the fake-science silliness and highly damaging lockdowns. But it kept not happening. The lockdowns have continued on and on regardless of the evidence against them.

Getting reliable information out there in the public sphere has depended in large part on independent venues to break through the noise.

One of the best videographers and analysts on the topic is Ivor Cummings, an engineer-trained thinker who has worked to summarize the best science and data. Below you will find his latest video that brings enormous clarity to the topic based on data and evidence from all over the world. I am posting it here because it strikes me as the single best source to understand virus patterns and policy responses. It is presented without hype or ideology, in the interest of more clarity. It is absolutely worth your 40 minutes of time.

When Trump Takes On the Military-Industrial Complex, He Echoes This Beloved American President

In a stunning and brave demonstration that he is just like everybody else in the establishment media, and a reliable company man in the nation’s foremost anti-Trump propaganda machine, CNN National Security Reporter Ryan Browne tweeted Monday: “In an unprecedented public attack by a sitting US president on the leadership of the US military, President Trump has accused US military leaders of seeking to start wars to boost the profits of defense contractors.”

Coming on the heels of the media outrage over the false claim that Trump termed American troops “losers,” this is just another manifestation of a quadrennial spectacle: Leftists who loathe the military claiming to love and respect it. But Browne’s central claim was wrong: Trump’s remarks were not unprecedented, and indeed were following one of the most enduringly important statements by a president in modern times.

Trump said at a press conference Monday: “I’m not saying the military’s in love with me, but the soldiers are. The top people in the Pentagon probably aren’t, because they want to do nothing but fight wars so that all of those wonderful companies that make the bombs and make the planes and make everything else stay happy. But we’re getting out of the endless wars, you know how we’re doing.”

In response to Ryan Browne’s tweet, many commenters pointed out that Trump’s words were hardly “unprecedented,” as he was merely echoing an important warning from one of his predecessors, a man who was a general before he was a president: Dwight D. Eisenhower. As Rating America’s Presidents: An America-First Look at Who Is Best, Who Is Overrated, and Who Was An Absolute Disaster discusses, in his farewell address on January 17, 1961, Eisenhower warned against the “military-industrial complex” – a warning that has too often been ignored.

Stung by this criticism, CNN’s Browne huffily responded: “Some folks really ought to read what President Eisenhower actually said in his farewell address. While they are both critical of the military industrial complex, nowhere does Eisenhower actually accuse military leaders of engaging in shooting wars to boost profits for firms.”

All right. Let’s read what President Eisenhower actually said. “We must guard,” he declared, “against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.”

If Eisenhower didn’t mean that there was a danger that military leaders might engage in shooting wars that did nothing to foster national security but were pursued only for the benefit of industrial firms, what exactly did he mean? Take, for example, the American incursion into Somalia in the 1990s. On December 4, 1992, after he had already lost his bid for reelection, Bush announced that he was sending American troops to Somalia. The stated goal was to protect humanitarian missions in the East African nation, which was torn by civil war.

As Rating America’s Presidents details, there was no conceivable American interest in protecting the delivery of humanitarian aid to Somalia. Somalia had no oil or any other significant products for export. It did not remotely threaten the U.S. or even nearby countries militarily. While many Americans like to regard the United States as the “world’s policeman,” neither the U.S. nor any other nation has the resources to ensure that every other country has good government, and any country that tried to behave as if it did would soon come to ruin.

Mass evacuation orders have been issued across several US states such as California, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Washington, as emergency officials work tirelessly to contain multiple wildfires threatening the lives of many along the US’ West Coast.

In California’s San Francisco Bay Area, residents awoke early Wednesday to a dark, thick blanket of smoke and pumpkin-orange skies as a result of the growing wildfires. Photos shared on social media show that not even the sun’s ray were able to penetrate the smokey air.

Many residents shared images of the hazy air, noting their shock at the lack of light in the later morning hours as they underscored the toxicity of the sky.
