Calianon here.

I've been thinking about Q's Ca fire post and I have a couple of issues with it.

First: do I think the Sacramento Dems are above organized arson? Absolutely not. What Q is describing is basically the public sector version of an insurance job. No question the crooks in Sacramento would use such tactics. And they would definitely (and do) use the fires to push their climate change narrative. But there is a problem with the logistics.

As I write this I am about 3 miles from the Oak Fire, which started on Labor Day. Do I know how it started? No I do not. But I do know the area where it started and it is not an area where an outsider could go and not be noticed. (And I seriously doubt the idiots in Sacramento could keep a space based DEW secret.)

Several years ago one of the largest fires in California recorded history started near Potter valley. From sources in the Mendocino County Sheriffs office I know the cause was human stupidity. A landowner was trying to get rid of a hornet nest and started the fire.

I also know several CDF (now CalFIre) personnel and these are not people that would stand down on fighting a fire. They live here. They would be putting their own homes and families at risk in doing so. Nor would they put up with anyone else doing so. It is not in their nature.

Currently one of the largest fires in the state (and the one responsible for the bulk of the smoke) is in the Mendocino National Forest, meaning it is the responsibility of the National Forest Service which works for Trump (ostensibly).

Then the weather. No it has not been unusually hot in this part of the state this year (the day the Oak fire started was a hot one with temps of 100+, I actually watched it from a nearby ridge, quite a sight). On the other hand in my area we only had about half the usual rainfall last winter. In this area, in this time of year (any year), it takes very little to get a fire going. Fuels are generally very dry this time of year so fires start easy and spread fast.

Speaking of fuels…yes there has been gross mismanagement of the local forests. This used to be logging country. That has been all but shut down now because of the tree huggers, and yes state govt. had a big part to play in that.

Having said all of that. If what Q is alleging is proven the backlash, at least here in northern Cal, would be massive. One of the big problems in this state is that the politics are dominated by the SF bay area and the Los Angeles Metroplex. The remainder of the state is generally fairly conservative, but the cities overwhelm everything else.
