Go cut down a living tree and cut it into logs. Now try to burn the logs in a fire. Green wood does not ignite, or stay lit, easily. It still has a lot of moisture in it. That's not to say it won't burn. It's just that it takes a lot more heat and ignition exposure than the dried wood which these homes are constructed from. For the most part, wood shingles went out of style a long time ago. One big reason is because they literally act like kindling. I would guess that, if subjected to close up examination, that many of these trees which appear untouched are not so. And that they show evidence of fire damage, but did not burn completely up.

Could be any number of reasons anon. Maybe the 747s undergoing maintenance? I like to think it's because these are cheaper to fly, can land easier on shortish runways, and POTUS likes to save money. But I'm sure some anon's will say it is because the 747s are bugged. kek.

Call sign NASA747, tail number N747NA, NASA Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy. Looking at the flight track PF is wondering if all that infrared imaging equipment has been pointed to the heavens, or at the ground, on this flight. That's a 747SP anons. Not many of those built. This one blonged to Pan Am, then United, before NASA.

It certainly looks like an astronomy mission over the Pacific. But why the weird flight track over the area of the wildfires then? Maybe taking infrared measurements related to fires? Or to smoke in atmosphere? Flight track seems a little weird if all they wanted to do was to get out over some dark waters for stargazing, no?
