Any such tech would be classified, with DARPA as the OCA (most likely) in this case. Then there are three possibilities, could be a combination:

1) Someone in DoD/DARPA violated NATSEC laws and illegally gave tech companies these tools

2) DARPA preemptively declas'd these, then gave them away with instructions

3) These companies are extensions of DARPA (LifeLog), which provided a direct conduit for access and instructions

 

The last possibility is the most concerning. Has DARPA gone rogue too? Is this McChrystals pet project?
