It just occurred to me that population control has been the underlying goal of all social control mechanisms/institutions over the milennia. Churches use mental prisons to influence reproductive behavior. The government uses physical prisons to control reproduction. Satan uses society as a whole to judge and oppress non-conformists. Systems of control invariably grow corrupt and out of control. Greed leads to inequality breeding contempt and violence.
Society revolts and we try again. We seem to be making progress though.
