Over 10% of the entire population of Oregon forced to evacuate, 23 known killed… Fires have consumed an area equal to the size of New Jersey.

OROVILLE, Calif. – Wildfires raced through more than a dozen Western states Thursday, incinerating homes, forcing hundreds of thousands of evacuations, and burning a swath of land almost the size of New Jersey.

At least 23 people have died and hundreds of homes have been destroyed by more than 100 major fires that have consumed nearly 7,000 square miles. Authorities in Oregon say more than 500,000 people statewide have been forced to evacuate because of wildfires – over 10% of the state’s 4.2 million population.

“Unprecedented weather conditions have created emergency situations near wildfires throughout California, Oregon, Washington and other states,” the National Fire Information Center warned. “Almost half of the large fires reported today have evacuation orders in place.”

Nineteen deaths have been reported in California, three in Oregon and one in Washington state. In Northern California’s Butte County, Sheriff Kory Honea said at least 10 people have died, including seven more added to the death toll Thursday. Dozens are missing and hundreds of homes were feared destroyed by a series of blazes 125 miles northeast of San Francisco called the North Complex fires.

Several people have been critically burned and thousands more homes were threatened. At least 20,000 people were under evacuation orders or warnings in Plumas, Yuba and Butte counties.

$41 Billion Lululemon Is Holding Classes On "Resisting Capitalism" While Selling $128 Yoga Pants

There's no better example of groupthink taking over people's common sense than $41.7 billion clothing retailer Lululemon, who sells signature yoga pants for $128, holding a seminar on "resisting capitalism".

But, it's 2020 and so, the examples of hypocrisy shall play on!

Lululemon got caught promoting a workshop on how to "decolonize gender" (whatever that means) and "resist capitalism" on its social media account yesterday. The seminar is being hosted by "company brand ambassador" Rebby Kern, according to the Daily Mail.

Meanwhile, sales at the retailer have exploded during the pandemic, as workers look to shift to the casual attire that comes with working at home. Shares have rallied more than 100% off their coronavirus lows in March and the company's Q2 comps were up 2% despite the chaos of the pandemic.

Chip Wilson, the company's founder is a Canadian billionaire. We're guessing he didn't "resist capitalism". And as a result, Lululemon found itself being ridiculed on Twitter:

All wokeness aside…resist capitalism? I see this happen over and over and can't fully wrap my head around how these brands survive these suicidal campaigns. They can easily be called on their hipocrisy, just to begin with: they outsource everything they manufacture, even IT!

— Sorongolo (@Sorongolox) September 9, 2020

This companies current stock price is 333.30 with a revenue of 3.98 billion, and they have the boldness to market a resist capitalism campaign!

— Fred Johnson (@massrunnerfmj) September 10, 2020

Im assuming @Lululemon will be turning over its resources to the state

— A Young (@ariyoung) September 10, 2020

Lululemon, a company worth $45.5 billion best known for selling $100 leggings made by tortured overseas laborers, invited its social media followers to learn how to "resist capitalism" this weekend.https://t.co/gpX2BWPW5F

$98 swim trunks but lol resist capitalism. Gfy, @lululemon pic.twitter.com/691bW1dQMU

— MostlyPeacefulRabbi (@DissidentRabbi) September 10, 2020

"Lululemon IS capitalism," one person concluded.

"It is literally a privately owned corporation that raked in half a billion dollars in pure profits last year, merely by selling overpriced yoga pants to women willing and able to pay for this luxury. All this begs the question…WUT?"

Neocons Levy False Attacks on Trump To Distract From Hideous Waste of Blood and Treasure Overseas

For the past two days, the press and the entire political establishment have crawled out of the fetid swamp to launch one of their most deranged attacks yet on President Trump. They’ve accused him of the grave offense of ridiculing America’s fallen soldiers. This attack has only one goal. They do not want you, dear reader, to actually think deeply about who has really used and abused American’s bravest soldiers. The answer, unambiguously, is our utterly failed ruling class. America’s corrupt ruling class has recklessly sacrificed the precious blood of our brave warriors not for the betterment of America, but for the enrichment of Washington.

The claim, as reported by Jeffrey Goldberg in The Atlantic, is this:

When President Donald Trump canceled a visit to the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery near Paris in 2018, he blamed rain for the last-minute decision, saying that “the helicopter couldn’t fly” and that the Secret Service wouldn’t drive him there. Neither claim was true.

Trump rejected the idea of the visit because he feared his hair would become disheveled in the rain, and because he did not believe it important to honor American war dead, according to four people with firsthand knowledge of the discussion that day. In a conversation with senior staff members on the morning of the scheduled visit, Trump said, “Why should I go to that cemetery? It’s filled with losers.” In a separate conversation on the same trip, Trump referred to the more than 1,800 marines who lost their lives at Belleau Wood as “suckers” for getting killed.

On Memorial Day 2017, Trump visited Arlington National Cemetery, a short drive from the White House. He was accompanied on this visit by John Kelly, who was then the secretary of homeland security, and who would, a short time later, be named the White House chief of staff. The two men were set to visit Section 60, the 14-acre area of the cemetery that is the burial ground for those killed in America’s most recent wars. Kelly’s son Robert is buried in Section 60. A first lieutenant in the Marine Corps, Robert Kelly was killed in 2010 in Afghanistan. He was 29. Trump was meant, on this visit, to join John Kelly in paying respects at his son’s grave, and to comfort the families of other fallen service members. But according to sources with knowledge of this visit, Trump, while standing by Robert Kelly’s grave, turned directly to his father and said, “I don’t get it. What was in it for them?” [The Atlantic]

Reported Anti-Trump Prosecutor Nora Dannehy Resigns from Durham Probe Over Alleged Election Pressure by Barr

Nora Dannehy, a former career federal prosecutor who was asked by her old boss U.S. Attorney for Connecticut John Durham to return to government service to work on the probe of the Trump-Russia hoax investigation abuses by the Obama administration and the Deep State, has resigned, reportedly over concerns the investigation is facing pressure over the upcoming presidential election from Attorney General william Barr

Dannehy’s resignation was reported by the Hartford Courant. The Courant reported colleagues of Dannehy said she is not a supporter of President Trump.

Federal prosecutor Nora Dannehy, a top aide to U.S. Attorney John H. Durham in his Russia investigation, has quietly resigned from the U.S. Justice Department probe – at least partly out of concern that the investigative team is being pressed for political reasons to produce a report before its work is done, colleagues said.

Dannehy, a highly regarded prosecutor who has worked with or for Durham for decades, informed colleagues in the U.S. Attorney’s office in New Haven of her resignation from the Department of Justice by email Thursday evening. The short email was a brief farewell message and said nothing about political pressure, her work for Durham or what the Durham team has produced, according to people who received it…

…Dannehy is a career prosecutor who worked closely with Durham before leaving the U.S. Attorney’s office about a decade ago for a corporate position in the defense industry. Durham persuaded her to return to the justice department and, within weeks, join his team in Washington in the spring of 2019.

Interview with Retired Former Chief of the Army Criminal Law Division, Col. Richard Black, Warning of Military Generals Undermining President Trump

Is the next option in the ‘rolling coup’ coming from the military? We discuss this and more with Former Marine Helicopter Pilot, career JAG Officer and Chief of the Army Criminal Law Division, Col. Richard Black, (USA Ret.).

Col. Richard H. Black, (USA Ret.) has a storied history. He explained to us that he flew 269 combat missions as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. He also fought on the ground with the First Marine Division and was wounded with both of his radio men killed during an attack. Col. Black later went to law school and was a career Judge Advocate Officer (JAG) and eventually became the Chief of the Army Criminal Law Division in the Office of the Judge Advocate General at the Pentagon.

The colonel played a key role in deploying troops to quell the LA riots in 1992 and is well versed in the Insurrection Act as a result. He also served for 20 years as a member of the Virginia General Assembly where he spent time in both the Virginia House and the Senate. Colonel Black shared:

What appears to be going on is a concerted effort among some of the top generals and defense department officials to undermine the credibility of the President, to undermine his ability to deal with the violence that’s plaguing the cities of America today. And, there is a level of arrogance and independence among the military that I have never seen in my lifetime and I think it’s reaching dangerous proportions.

There are very top leaders of the effort and General James Mattis is one and General Colin Powell is another one and they are working together with an array of Generals who are not in my view being responsive to their oath of office and even to the requirements of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Republicans demand answers on Mueller team wiping phones, suggest 'anticipatory obstruction of justice'

Congressional Republicans call the purported accidental 'wiping' an 'amazing coincidence'

Congressional Republicans demanded answers on Friday as to whether there “was a widespread intentional effort” to wipe the mobile devices of multiple people on former Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team during the Russia probe, and suggested this could amount to "anticipatory obstruction of justice."

The calls come after newly released records from the Justice Department showed that at least several dozen phones belonging to members of Mueller’s team were wiped of information because of forgotten passcodes, irreparable screen damage, loss of the device, intentional deletion or other reasons—all before the Justice Department inspector general’s office could review the devices.

Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, penned a letter to Attorney General Bill Barr and FBI Director Christopher Wray on Friday, pressing for details on what actions were taken to recover material deleted from the mobile devices assigned to Mueller’s team.

“It appears that Special Counsel Mueller’s team may have deleted federal records that could be key to better understanding their decision-making process as they pursued their investigation and wrote their report,” Grassley wrote. “Indeed, many officials apparently deleted the records after the DOJ Inspector General began his inquiry into how the Department mishandled Crossfire Hurricane.”

Grassley wrote that “based on this new information, the number of times and the stated reasons for the deletions calls into question whether or not it was a widespread intentional effort.”

Grassley first raised concerns about the Mueller team's use of text messages in 2017, after the Justice Department inspector general discovered that texts sent by former FBI agent and member of Mueller’s office Peter Strzok were politically charged.

Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., on Friday also demanded answers, telling Fox News he was “outraged by it.”

“I’m not a lawyer, but I am aware of the concept of anticipatory obstruction of justice,” Johnson told Fox News in a text message, saying the action of “accidentally wiping a phone because you entered the wrong password too many times” makes him “HIGHLY skeptical,” and a dozen people making “the same mistake is COMPLETELY unbelievable.”

“This needs to be fully investigated,” he said, adding that he has requested a phone call with Wray on Friday to discuss.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the Capitol, House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Devin Nunes, R-Calif., quipped that the lost data was an “amazing coincidence.”

“It’s an amazing coincidence that all these professional investigators kept accidentally wiping their phones,” Nunes told Fox News. “You’d think these people could come up with a more believable excuse for hiding evidence.”

FLORES: How Can the Deep State’s Antifa Organization Be Stopped?

Antifa has become a pseudo-fascist tool in the Color Revolution underway, as part of a coup against the executive branch’s administration, and the massive geopolitical and economic shift that administration represents. The methods of the 2016 election would see Trump win by an even wider Electoral College margin in 2020. For these reasons, it was necessary for the deep state to introduce a whole array of ‘extraordinary circumstances and new rules’: staged riots and ballot harvesting in order to change the election outcome.

The threat of Antifa will always exist so long as the U.S. continues to produce a new-left radicalized permanent under-class, as seen now.

The three ways to stop Antifa are to A.) Remove its funding sources and de facto leaders; B.) Create a production-driven economy; C.) Defund humanities departments promoting critical race and gender theories; and D.) Rehabilitate its hardened members.

Remove Antifa’s Funding Sources and de facto Leaders

Antifa is a terror organization operationalized and functionally created by the deep state. One of the front group NGOs that funnels money to Antifa is ‘Democracy Alliance’, which has Kamala Harris, George Soros, Tom Steyer, BLM Corporation, and many more, as members or backers. BLM Corporation is heavily financed by George Soros. Any number of the backers, members of ‘Democracy Alliance’ and similar, form an interconnected web of organizations apparently financing each other – until one locates a critical billionaire oligarch or their front – such as the Ford Foundation, the Kellog Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, Bloomberg, Soros through Open Society Foundations, and the likes. There are also many thousands of smaller – though quite sizable – donations from relatively wealthy individuals with histories of donating to center-left causes.

The other components of Democracy Alliance are organized labor and elected politicians – a critical component because the staff organizers of labor unions are professionally trained in organizing, and turn-out. They work in spheres both electoral and street activism.

This was realized in the nexus between SEIU and the Bernie Sanders campaign, whose moneys came through both COPA/COPE moneys from labor, and from Act Blue donations to Sanders – which in turn went to the Working Families Party and Our Revolution.

The role of SEIU and the AFL-CIO in this chart below should not lend to confusion that this is operationalized in the interest of organized labor. Organized labor is in steady decline precisely because of its subservience to the DNC, and the rotating door between labor union management and the HR departments of the same companies organized yesterday, or to the DNC itself which facilitates that.

This graphic shows the web of Democracy Alliance, which should be viewed at the original source below because it can be enlarged:

Housing a core of the violent vagabond Antifa ‘fascist’ drifters at a tent-city encampment in Portland is a whole collection of opportunistic NGOs.

Arab Spring Hit Egypt – December 2010 – December 2012

So while it’s easy to paint Antifa activists as largely young, idealistic, and prone to manipulation by America’s rapacious oligarchy who operationalize them towards their own ends – we would point out that these activists have long been deprived of the basic dignity that one derives from work. We aren’t talking fairy tale work, as in ‘dream jobs’, but simply steady work with tolerable conditions, which pay the bills, and in that sense, work with dignity.

A lot of these globalist oligarch NGOs also create jobs by day which are staffed by Antifa rioters by night. There is a social need for these NGO services, though there would be less of a need with a productive economy that avoids the social ills that NGOs patch over. Those remaining services that NGOs provide, ought to be public governmental entities that are democratically managed at the local governmental level, suited to the needs and organic belief systems of the relevant community it serves, and not controlled by globalist oligarchs.

We would also point out that the families of these Antifa activists are largely those which never recovered from the 2007 market crash, and were hit again in 2020 under the pretenses of Covid-19.

It has been this betrayal of the working-middle class by the Democrats – their own supposed electorate – that has provided adequate human material to form the looter-rioter armies which Democrats themselves operationalize in the Color strategy against Trump. This is what the planners wanted.

Defund Humanities Departments Promoting Divisive Critical Race and Gender Theory

While old left criticisms of capitalism are a part of Antifa ideology, the new left distortion and distraction of those pent-up frustrations stemming from unresolved social ills, is transferred onto abstract and de-classed identity politics issues relating to gender ideology – one that has even surpassed the identity politics of race. This much explains in part why the BLM Corporation ‘platform’ emphasizes the need to end the black nuclear family as an institution of patriarchy and gender hegemony.

There may also be a need to closely examine the extra-curricular activities of professors of western occultism and religious studies, as well as those at HBCUs, as well as performance art professors, with regard to insidious occult recruitment.

Defunding humanities departments in universities that embrace critical gender and critical race theory – that maleness and whiteness are the inherent problems needing moderation. Those views have served as a convenient distraction from class issues brought upon society by the very same rapacious oligarchs who are able to operationalize the same mob they have created through their policies.

McConnell: Chance for coronavirus deal 'doesn't look that good right now'

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Friday cast doubt on the ability for Congress to get a deal on a fifth coronavirus relief package after a failed vote in the Senate and a weeks-long stalemate between Democrats and the White House.

"We have been in a challenging period. …Regretfully, I can't tell you today we're going to get there. …I wish I could tell you we were going to get another package but it doesn't look that good right now," McConnell said during an event in Kentucky.

McConnell's comments come after Democrats blocked a GOP coronavirus relief bill in the Senate on Thursday.

After the setback several members of the Senate Republican caucus predicted that the chances for a deal on another coronavirus relief bill were all but dead until after the November election.

Congressional Democrats are pushing for a sweeping bill to address the health and economic fallout from the spread of the virus, which has killed approximately 191,000 Americans.

But talks between Democratic leadership, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and White House chief of staff Mark Meadows have gone nowhere since early August, when the negotiations derailed amid steep divisions over both the price tag and key policy provisions.

House Democrats passed a $3.4 trillion bill in May.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Democratic Leader Charles Schumer (N.Y.) offered to take $1 trillion off their price tag if the White House and Republicans would add the same amount to a $1.1 trillion bill unveiled in late July.

Republicans rejected that offer, with Mnuchin saying they could go as high as $1.5 trillion. That is approximately $700 billion less than the $2.2 trillion top-line figure offered by Democrats in late August.

In addition to the difference in the bill's cost, they haven't worked out significant policy differences including unemployment insurance or more help for state and local governments, where Republicans have offered $150 billion and Democrats are pushing for $915 billion.

Schumer predicted on Thursday that blocking the GOP bill could force Republicans to come back to the negotiating table and agree to a larger deal that includes Democratic priorities.

“Democrats urge our Republican colleagues to come to the table, meet us halfway, and negotiate in good faith on a bipartisan comprehensive bill that will benefit the entire country," Schumer said in a statement after Thursday's vote.

Black sportswriter says 'white liberals' are the 'actual bigots' and 'true racists' — and liberalism is 'the new KKK hood'

'Bigots used to hide under hoods; now they hide under the label of being a liberal and a progressive — and that allows you to be as bigoted as you wanna be'

Sportswriter Jason Whitlock — not one to shy away from views that run counter to his left-wing colleagues — spoke to Fox News' Tucker Carlson earlier this week about the controversy over now-former George Washington University professor Jessica Krug, who is white but made an entire career out of pretending to be black.

Whitlock didn't hold back in his reaction to it all:

There is a business built around racial grievance. And that business is booming at such a level that white people are like, "Hey, I'm gonna adopt a whole new identity so I can benefit from being Baby Al Sharpton, Baby Jesse Jackson," and in academia, this has been embraced, and [Krug] has been able to pull off this scam. But it's not just her; this isn't just an anecdote. We've had it with Rachel Dolezal; we've had it with the Shaun King guy on Twitter who is white, who has pretended to be black, who has lied and said that, "Oh, my mother slept with a black man, and she didn't tell anybody about it." All of these people moving into the race-bait industry and business, and it must be very profitable and lucrative because everybody wants to be "down with the cause, and y'all know that Jessica Krug is keepin' it real, you know, yo?"

Carlson, noting his disgust with a "patronizing" Krug seen earlier in the clip speaking like she's "illiterate," pointed out that such a persona isn't exactly a positive reflection of how leftists like her view the black community. Whitlock agreed — and proceeded to eviscerate the growing mob of white leftists who proudly fancy themselves as pro black and anti-racist:

I keep trying to explain it over and over and over again, and people think I'm crazy. The branding has been so strong that if you put on this label of being a liberal, there's virtually nothing you can do negative against black people that will be seen as negative.

White liberals — I'm sorry — they're the actual bigots. And I know that that's gonna blow a lot of people's minds, but liberalism to me is now the new KKK hood. Bigots used to hide under hoods; now they hide under the label of being a liberal and a progressive — and that allows you to be as bigoted as you wanna be. If you wanna call yourself an antifascist and support Black Lives Matter as a white person, that means you can go out into the streets, tear down neighborhoods, harass people, say all kinds of disrespectful stuff to white and black people, and it's all good because allegedly you're fighting racism. Allegedly you're on the side of black people. And actually, if you evaluate their actions and their mindset, they actually can't stand black people, have no respect for black people, think very little of black people, and certainly aren't working toward our benefit.

The world is just upside down. It's a big lie and a scam and … white people, white liberals are going out on a black person's credit card and … charging of a bunch of things that we have to pay the bill for. They're doing it in our name. This is crazy.

Toward the end of the interview, Whitlock added that an accounting of the results of white liberals' actions "paints them as the true racists."

Gold Mine Collapse in Congo's Kamituga Kills At Least 50, Report Says

Accidents on artisanal gold mines are frequently reported in the Democratic Republic of Congo, as the country enjoys natural richness in oil, minerals, timber, diamonds and other resources.

At least 50 people are presumed dead after an artisanal gold mine collapsed Friday afternoon near Kamituga, eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Reuters reported, citing a local mining NGO.

The reasons behind the incident were not immediately reported.

The Democratic Republic of Congo is rich in natural resources, and the accidents on artisanal gold mines are quite common in the area.

Earlier in October, CNN reported that at least 22 people were killed in an artisanal gold mine collapse in Kampene town of Congo's Maniema province.

Terrorists Plotting Provocations With Poisonous Chemicals in Idlib - Russian Military

Terrorists from the Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham group are preparing provocations with the use of poisonous substances in the southern part of Syria's Idlib, the deputy head of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of the Warring Parties in Syria, Rear Adm. Alexander Grinkevich, said at a briefing.

"The Russian center for the reconciliation of the warring parties received information about the preparation of a provocation using poisonous substances in the southern part of the Idlib de-escalation zoneby the terrorist group Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham," Grinkevich said.

He also noted that, according to available information, the terrorists plan to shoot videos in the area of the Jabal Zawiya height with the involvement of foreign media reporters for the subsequent dissemination of publications on the Internet, Middle Eastern and Western media accusing the Syrian government forces of using chemical weapons against civilians.

This is not the first time when warnings come about possible video provocations on chemical attacks allegedly conducted by the Syrian military. In February, Russian Defence Ministry said that The White Helmets have filmed fake videos in cooperation with the terrorists, showing alleged consequences of the Syrian Air Force's attack involving some "unidentified chemical weapon".

Syria has repeatedly denied using chemical weapons after having them destroyed as part of a Russia-brokered agreement with Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in 2013. The government have accused militants of staging chemical attacks, which have then been used by Western powers to justify military activities on Syrian territory.

The Syrian Civil War has been ongoing since 2011, with President Bashar Assad’s forces fighting against different insurgent groups. The so-called Astana trio, which includes Russia, Turkey and Iran, has been trying to bring the conflicting sides together to achieve peaceful settlement since the first meeting in Astana (now Nur Sultan) in January 2017.

As part of Syria's effort to restore peaceful life on the back of almost a decade-long war, Russia assists Damascus in facilitating the repatriation of Syrian refugees and internally displaced persons (IDP). The Russian center for Syrian reconciliation continues to provide humanitarian and medical aid to Eastern Ghouta residents and assist them in their returning homes in the settlements liberated from militants.

NYT columnist Paul Krugman ripped after claiming Americans reacted 'calmly' to 9/11 & didn't blame Muslims

Nobel Prize-winning economist Paul Krugman reckons post-9/11 America was a simpler time, when George W. Bush did his best to “calm prejudice” and nothing too bad happened to American Muslims. He was swiftly torn apart on Twitter.

The New York Times columnist commemorated the 19th anniversary of the most deadly attack on US soil in spectacular fashion. In a tweet on Friday morning, he claimed that “overall, Americans took 9/11 pretty calmly,” that “there wasn’t a mass outbreak of anti-Muslim sentiment and violence,” and that then-president Bush “tried to calm prejudice, not feed it.”

Krugman was swiftly ridiculed. Commenters reminded the esteemed economist that anti-Muslim prejudice actually skyrocketed after 9/11, with FBI data showing a more than tenfold increase in hate crimes over the preceding year. Others reminded him of wholesale roundups of Muslims, which saw hundreds jailed following tips to an FBI hotline, and according to one lawsuit against the federal government, physically abused in prison.

Coronavirus Delays Long-Stalled Trial of 9/11 Mastermind, 4 Accomplices

The Chinese coronavirus pandemic has once again delayed the long-awaited death penalty trial of the self-professed 9/11 mastermind and his four co-conspirators held at the U.S. military prison in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, the judge handling the cases revealed recently.

Justice remains elusive nearly two decades after the jihadis executed the attack that left about 3,000 people dead and over 6,000 injured, marking the deadliest assault on U.S. soil.

U.S. officials charged the late Osama bin Laden’s close ally Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (KSM) alongside his nephew, Ammar al-Baluchi, accused hijacking trainer Walid bin Attash, facilitator Ramzi bin al-Shibh, and al-Qaeda money man Mustafa al-Hawsawi with war crimes punishable by death for allegedly helping 19 hijackers carry out the heinous attack.

“Our client, this nation, deserves a reckoning,” prosecutor Edward Ryan reportedly told the court last July in pushing for a trial.

Nevertheless, the Chinese coronavirus has pushed the trial back even further following repeated delays throughout the years.

According to military commission documents, the judge handling the case since August, Army Col. Douglas Watkins, said last month:

In response to the Pandemic, the Commanders of U.S. Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and Joint Task Force, Guantanamo Bay, have instituted numerous health and welfare-related restrictions (to include quarantine requirements for Commission participants) that make it impracticable for this commission to hold hearings at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay while these restrictions remain in place.

The former judge handling the case, Air Force Col. Shane Cohen, had scheduled the trial for January 2021. In March, Col. Cohen announced his retirement after presiding over the case for less than a year, further fueling the delays.

On Friday, the Washington Examiner noted:

The case’s progress came to almost a complete halt amid the pandemic due to travel and quarantine restrictions on the Caribbean island. The war court permits the five alleged 9/11 plotters to meet with their lawyers only face to face and not by phone or video conference. No hearings have been held since late February, and the trial, which had been slated to begin Jan. 11, 2021, has been postponed for a few months, if not longer, raising questions of whether jury selection will even begin before the 20th anniversary.

The case has been delayed multiple times, following unfavorable Supreme Court decisions under President George W. Bush and due to a controversial and aborted effort by President Barack Obama to try the men in federal court in New York City. The military commissions are a hybrid between a military tribunal and civilian court, authorized by the Military Commissions Act of 2009 after a prior setup was found unconstitutional. Other issues have plagued the court proceedings, including how to handle allegations of torture and the use of classified information during the trial.

It remains unclear exactly when the trial will begin. Last month, documents revealed that the military commission initially suspended all its hearings for 120 days, beginning in late March, but then delayed them further by an additional 30 days.

MSM’s attempts to spin Trump’s attacks on senseless wars as disrespect for military at large are a dismal distortion of reality

The New York Times and CNN are desperate to paint Donald Trump as an enemy of the military, due to his desire not to get involved in pointless wars. But this is simply not true, and Trump has the backing of many soldiers.

Someone should tell the New York Times, CNN and other mainstream media outlets that soldiers don’t actually like getting killed or maimed for no good reason. Nor do they like generals and presidents who spill their blood in vain.

Alas, ignorance of these obvious truths probably isn’t the issue. This is likely just another case of the biggest names in news pretending to not get the point so they can take the rest of us along for a ride in their confidence game of alternative reality.

The latest example is the New York Times spinning President Donald Trump’s critique this week of Pentagon leadership and the military industrial complex as disrespect for the military at large. “Trump has lost the right and authority to be commander in chief,”the Times quoted retired US Marines General Anthony Zinni as saying. Zinni cited Trump's alleged “despicable comments” about the nation’s war dead – reported last week by The Atlantic, citing anonymous sources – as one of the reasons Trump “must go.”
