Citigroup hires BofA executive to run institutional client group compliance

Citigroup Inc C.N said on Friday it had hired a Bank of America Corp BAC.N executive to run compliance for its Institutional Clients Group (ICG).

Jennifer Taylor will start as chief compliance officer for the ICG in December and will be based in the UK, according to a memo signed by Chief Compliance Officer Mary McNiff and ICG Chief Executive Officer Paco Ybarra. Taylor was most recently a regional head of compliance and operational risk at Bank of America and has also served as general counsel for different business lines across the Asia Pacific region.

โ€œShe has deep product knowledge across the institutional space and a proven track record in driving and embedding a compliance culture across a global franchise,โ€ the memo said. In her new role Taylor will be responsible for designing and executing risk management functions across the ICG, which accounted for more than half of revenue and two-thirds of profit for the third-largest U.S. bank last year.

Regulators began giving Citiโ€™s operations a closer look last month after a high profile error caused the bank to misplace nearly $1 billion of its own funds.

Citigroup sues two more Revlon lenders in $900 mln fight

Citigroup Inc C.N is suing HPS Investment Partners and Symphony Asset Management for allegedly refusing to return a combined $237 million, escalating a legal dispute between the bank and Revlon Inc's REV.N lenders over a loan payment error. Citi mistakenly paid about $127.3 million in funds to lender HPS Investment and $109.7 million to Symphony, court documents showed.

The fresh lawsuit comes after Citigroup won a small victory on Tuesday in its battle to recoup nearly $900 million it mistakenly sent to creditors of troubled cosmetics company Revlon Inc REV.N. Citi has said it quickly caught the payment error and was taking steps to recover the funds.
