Brian Mast: Police Being Yelled at Today Are Same Heroes Who Charged into World Trade Center

Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL) told Breitbart News on Friday, the 19th anniversary of attacks by Islamic terrorists who murdered more than 3,000 Americans, that police officers being denigrated today are of the same character as New York City cops who lost their lives rescuing people on September 11, 2001.

Mast linked the “Never Forget” ethos with firefighters, police offers, and other first responders who lost their lives while helping others in peril. Today’s emergency responders embody the same heroism as those who died on 9/11, he stated.

“Those officers and firemen and women … didn’t die just because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time,” Mast said. “They died because there was a very dangerous situation that happened, and they went charging in. That’s something to never forget as we think about everything going on in the world today, and our police officers, especially, those are the men and women that went charging in that so many are yelling and screaming at today. They’re the same people.”

National unity born through tragedy manifested on September 12, Mast remarked. “[It] was a day that we all woke up simply as Americans. It didn’t matter the color of our skin or our education or where we worshiped or anything else, what city we lived in or what we did. We all woke up that next day united as Americans. It was the most unified day of my life, and I pray that our country can get back to that”:

There are also two young girls aged, between zero and nine, who are linked with the Brisbane youth detention centre cluster.

Deputy Premier Steven Miles said no new cases had been detected this week following a positive case on Russell Island.

"It's very heartening to see we haven't had a community transmission case on the southern Morton Bay islands," he said.

Mr Miles said the true test to determine whether a possible outbreak has been prevented will be next Saturday, 14 days after the initial case was confirmed.

Andrews says curfew about 'human life, not human rights' as story changes again

Daniel Andrews has contradicted his own police chief, who in turn contradicted the chief health officer, as the story around the curfew continues to shift.

Daniel Andrews has contradicted his own police chief, saying Shane Patton was informed of the controversial 8pm curfew before the decision was made.

Mr Patton on Thursday denied any foreknowledge or input, saying Victoria Police’s “policy area” only received a copy of the guidelines “a couple of hours before they were to be brought in”.

He was in turn responding to chief health officer Brett Sutton passing the buck on Tuesday, saying the curfew was not based on his medical advice but was a “separate decision-making pathway”.

The unprecedented imposition on Victorians’ civil liberties has come under growing criticism since Professor Sutton’s comments, with Opposition Leader Michael O’Brien calling for the “captain’s call” curfew to be lifted.

“On the point of this being about someone’s human rights – this is about human life,” Mr Andrews said today.
