The conversation corps and wildland firefighting communities are absolutely full of left-wing commie kids. It's unfortunately a world that only really attracts alcoholics, druggies, the developmentally stunted and all-around fuck-ups. There's a few good people on every crew, but it's majority punks.

A combination of it being hard work for little pay, a ton of nature-related degree holders, government work and subversive propaganda. It used to be a way for working class kids to learn useful skills and get their foot in the door for future careers, now it's largely a resume builder for college kids or a place to hide.
Given that I know what those shirts look like when dirty, yes I believe so. Even the hike up they'd be drenched in sweat, beware of anyone too clean on a dirty job.
