Acres of cornfields at a Leeds farm were destroyed when vandals apparently drove through the fields, according to the Maine Warden Service.

The incident occured at the Barker Farm sometime Friday night. Vandals allegedly drove through the farm’s fields ― which were full of harvestable corn ― in multiple sections.

The path of destruction was about 800 feet long and between 8-14 feet wide. The damage was discovered Saturday morning.

The Maine Warden Service has not identified any suspects connected to the incident, but are looking for anyone who has relevant information to share about the vandalism.

Anyone with information can contact the Warden Service at 207-624-7076.

Tuesday’s election will impact our lives far more than those in 2020Opinion

Posted Nov 03, 2019

On Tuesday many of us will make our way to the polls to exercise the precious right to vote. Sadly, many more won’t.

The Municipal General election on Tuesday is the downstroke of the four-year election cycle. Three quarters of registered voters won’t show up to vote on Tuesday, whereas the reverse will be true in next years presidential election.

Ironically the decisions made by many of the offices that we’ll vote for on Tuesday__ impact our everyday lives far more__ than those made by federal officials we’ll elect in 2020.

What is troubling about the race for Superior Court is thehidden “man behind the curtain.” The infamous billionaire, George Soros, has poured a million dollars of out-of-state money into a so-called “Super PAC.” Much of that money is reportedly being used to try to defeat Peck and King.

It’s not Soros’ first foray from the outside into Pennsylvania politics. Two years ago his wealth was a major factor in electing Larry Krasner as District Attorney of Philadelphia. Krasner’s nonfeasance in office is already legendary. But that’s what Soros wanted. Voters should pay close attention to what he’s looking for in our appellate court races.
