Might be relevant but neither of the co-founders of 23andMe are actual biologists even though they are described as such, they have bachelors degrees and experience in sales or finance. Could be useful
There was/is a law that even stated that if a farmer doesn't use the monstanto heirloom seeds but enough genetic material is present in the seeds he does use then they still "own" the product, I'd assume the same "logic" would apply with human DNA as well.
