I'm trying to find the exact time of the tarmac meeting, but i have a feeling it will be very close in time to this public broadcast event.

 

  1. Phoenix is Mountain time. So this would be broadcast at 2:50 MT.

Possibilities:

  1. If its before the tarmac meeting he could be signaling something relevant to the deal being struck.

  2. If it during the tarmac meeting, he could be signaling relevant to the meeting or he could be creating an alibi.

  3. If its after the meeting he could be responding to something that was said at the meeting.

 

I think this is primarily a clue we need to return to if/when the video/audio/or transcript of the meeting is released.

 

Trying to infer what the message is with so little context is almost impossible. I tried watching the part of the this video that was "off the prepared script" but couldn't really come up with anything.

Posted before me. Expressing the interest rate like this is definitely a reference to basis points. This is wall street terminology. When Interest rates go up, the value of currently issued treasury bonds goes down. The coupon rate on Treasury Bonds does not float.

 

The US raising rates reduces the value of chinese and russian held bonds significantly(its hard to measure how much because i don't think the distribution of chinese and russian treasury holdings are commonly published statistics.

Higher interest rates also equals stronger dollar and by extension weaker rubal/yuan.

Strong dollar makes American Goods more expensive and is generally bad for exports, but Trump has made so many strong Trade moves, he can get away with it. Strong Dollar benefits the middle class. It amplifies wage growth.

Its not surprising the two do not appear together in any google search, but they turn up at many of the same charity events.

These are helpful. Thank you. Getting the exact time of the meeting is bounded by the phoenix police conference + travel time to the airport. The reporting is pretty consistent that the meeting lasted about 30 minutes(which is longer than the Obama WNBA meet and greet) The relative durations eliminate the possibility of him using it as an alibi.
