Deer country anon here. Hit a few. It happens all the time where I live. Some folks stop and take the deer for food. Some move the deer off to the side of the road out of the way of traffic. Nobody ever calls police unless people are harmed and need emergency medical attention. That happens a lot, too. But what we do here typically is we take pics off the obvious deer damage with our phones and send it in to our insurance. Hitting a deer versus hitting a human. Huge differences. Deer impacts have obvious signs/ patterns. Plus all that damn deer hair caught up in everything. Phone pics are more than clear enough. And the body shop guys around here know exactly what deer damage looks like. Insurance company and body shop. That's it. Unless you or your passengers are badly injured. No need to call police.
