Wildfire closes U.S. Hwy. 12 across White Pass in Cascades

WHITE PASS, Wash. - A new wildfire near White Pass has closed 45 miles of U.S. Highway 12 on both sides of the summit, officials say.
There is no estimated time for reopening.
Eastbound traffic on the highway is stopped 13 miles west of the summit near milepost 138, at the junction with State Route 123.
Westbound traffic on U.S. 12 is stopped at Oak Creek, two miles west of the junction with State Route 410.
Highway 12 is the most direct route across the Cascade Mountains between Interstate 5 in Lewis County and the city of Yakima.
