Oregon fire officials prepare for “mass fatality” event – do they know something we don’t?

It is now being reported that Oregon Fire Marshal Jim Walker has officially resigned from his post after being placed on administrative leave due to the state’s alleged mishandling of the wildfires. We have since learned that Walker will be succeeded by Chief Deputy Mariana Ruiz-Temple, who will oversee what some state officials are ominously warning is soon to become a “mass fatality” event.

Walker submitted his resignation to the Oregon State Police superintendent’s office, though no specific reason for it has been disclosed. Meanwhile, Oregon is scrambling to prepare for widespread deaths across the state as the wildfires, which have already consumed more than one million acres of terrain, continue to spread.

“[Ruiz-Temple] is assuming this position as Oregon is in an unprecedented crisis which demands an urgent response,” indicated Oregon State Police Superintendent Travis Hampton.

“This response and the circumstances necessitated a leadership change. I have absolute confidence in [Ruiz-Temple] to lead OSFM operations through this critical time. She is tested, trusted, and respected – having the rare combination of technical aptitude in field operations and administration.”

According to Commissioner John Lindsey, an official in Linn County, there has thus far been a lack of coordination from the state in responding to the fires, which is part of the reason why they continue to destroy property, take lives and spread smoke all across the West Coast and now even into the Midwest.

“The one consistent denominator missing was the state,” he reportedly told OregonLive.

While evidence does exist to suggest that arsonists are to blame for at least some of the fires, many of the larger ones appear to be occurring along fault lines and above magma chambers, which also points to supernatural phenomena.

“[Ruiz-Temple] has led with grace, transparency, and courage,” added Oregon Gov. Kate Brown in a statement. “She embodies the experience Oregon needs to face this crisis, in this moment.”

CDC has metastasized embedded “resistance unit” of anti-Trump scientists

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), which oversees the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), says the latter agency is corrupted with anti-Trump elements that exist to thwart the president’s agenda and eventually unseat him.

Describing these elements as a “resistance unit” during a recent Facebook livestream, HHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Michael Caputo chillingly advised Americans to stock up on ammunition before the November election because things are about to get really ugly.

According to Caputo, there are entire departments full of career scientists at the CDC who “haven’t gotten out of their sweatpants except for meetings at coffee shops,” during which they plot “how they’re going to attack Donald Trump next.”

“There are scientists who work for this government who do not want America to get well, not until after Joe Biden is president,” Caputo is further quoted as saying.

While pretending to be “holy men” of science who care about public health, these phony CDC scientists are rotten to the core, Caputo contends. Robert Redfield, however, is a good guy, according to Caputo, as is his scientific adviser Paul Alexander, whom he described as “a genius.”

“To allow people to die so that you can replace the president,” Caputo went on to chastise, is a “grievous sin.”

Mueller Team Had Lisa Page's Phone It Claimed Was Lost, Email Shows

An official who worked on special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation wrote in a recently released email that he or she was in possession of an iPhone belonging to Lisa Page three days after the former FBI lawyer’s last day on the job and at a time when the device was thought to have been lost.

The special counsel’s office (SCO) and the Justice Department previously claimed to have no documents to show who handled Page’s iPhone after she turned it in on July 14, 2017, or who improperly wiped it two weeks later, before it could be checked for records, in violation of SCO policy.

But documents released by the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Sept. 11 tell a different story, with three officials certifying that Page turned over her phone and one claiming to have been in possession of it.

“I have her phone and laptop,” an administrative officer with the initials LFW wrote in a July 17, 2017, email to Christopher Greer, an assistant director at the DOJ Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO).

Beth McGarry, the executive officer at the special counsel’s office, told Greer in an email sent earlier in the day that Page “returned her mobile phone and laptop.”

On the same day, a property custodian officer, whose name is redacted in the documents, signed a form on which Page certified that she turned in her phone and the officer certified that “all government property has been returned or otherwise properly accounted for.”

The July 17 timing of the two statements and the signature is significant. The DOJ Office of Inspector General (OIG) previously concluded that there were no records of who had the phone after July 14.

The records about Page’s phone are part of a DOJ disclosure that revealed that members of the Mueller team improperly wiped at least 22 iPhones before they could be checked for records.

Attorney General Barr calls mainstream media ‘basically a collection of liars’

Attorney General Bill Barr on Friday issued a scathing critique of the mainstream media’s coverage of riots and violent protests after the death of George Floyd during an arrest in May. Barr accused most of the mainstream media of being “basically a collection of liars.”

“Right on the street it was clear as day what was going on, anyone observing it, reporters observing it, it could not have escaped their attention that this was orchestrated violence by a hardened group of street fighting radicals,” Barr told Townhall. Nevertheless, “they kept on excluding from their coverage all the video of this and reporting otherwise and they were doing that for partisan reasons, and they were lying to the American people.”

The Attorney General said the media “has dropped any pretense of professional objectivity and are political actors, highly partisan who try to shape what they’re reporting to achieve a political purpose and support a political narrative that has nothing to do with the truth.”

“They’re very mendacious about it,” Barr added. “It’s very destructive to our republic; it’s very destructive to the Democratic system to have that, especially being so monolithic. It’s contributing to a lot of the intensity and partisanship.”

Even though Barr criticized the mainstream media as a whole, he granted that on the level of individual journalists, there are some exceptions. “I think there are a handful of reporters in the mainstream media that still have journalistic integrity, and there are some, but the overwhelming majority don’t have it anymore,” he pointed out.

He said the reporters covering his Department of Justice “do understand some of the issues. But, on the other hand, some of them have essentially adopted the same methods and ploys as what I refer to more generally as the national media and that is they’re not because, probably somewhat because, of their own orientation but also what their editors say, they’re not really interested so much in what really happened but in pursuing a preformed narrative that suits some kind of ideological agenda. That’s what it’s all become.”

Barr had joined the administration of President Donald Trump as Attorney General in 2019. He had previously served in the same capacity under President George H.W. Bush for just over a year.

Barr is no stranger to criticizing the mainstream media. In February, he argued that “the corporate – or “mainstream” – press is massively consolidated. And it has become remarkably monolithic in viewpoint, at the same time that an increasing number of journalists see themselves less as objective reporters of the facts and more as agents of change.”

“These developments have given the press an unprecedented ability to mobilize a broad segment of the public on a national scale and direct that opinion in a particular direction,” the Attorney General said.

Italian Priest Roberto Malgesini Stabbed and Murdered by Tunisian Migrant in Piazza San Rocco

Italian priest Roberto Malgesini, 51 years old, “a real street priest” as many describe him was stabbed and murdered on Monday at 7 AM in Como in Piazza San Rocco.

His killer is described as a homeless man, of Tunisian origin, aged 53.

The migrant was a person Father Malgesini knew and assisted and with whom he seems to have been on good terms.

Air Force Staff Sergeant Is 2nd to Die in Kuwait Vehicle Accident This Month

In the space of 72 hours, two airmen deployed to Kuwait have died in separate vehicle mishaps.

Staff Sergeant Ronald J. Ouellette, 23, of Merrimack, New Hampshire, died Sept. 14 in a single-vehicle ATV crash on the flight line at Ali Al Salem Air Base, Defense Department officials announced Wednesday. The incident was not combat-related and is under investigation.

Ouellette was attached to the 42nd Aerial Port Squadron at Westover Air Reserve Base, Massachusetts. In October 2019, he was named the unit's airman of the month, according to the squadron's Facebook page.

Officials at Westover said Ouellette was single and had no children. He had been in the Reserves for six years, said Lt. Col. Rodney Furr, 439th Airlift Wing chief of public affairs. His awards include the Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Reserve Meritorious Service Medal and Air Force Longevity Service Award.

"Ronald was a valued member of the Patriot Wing, and there are no words that can heal the pain his loss brings," Col. Craig C. Peters, 439th Airlift Wing commander, said in a statement. "We consider every Airman, civilian and dependent part of the team that makes all we do in the defense of our nation possible. The loss of our own, or any service member, is never easy. During this difficult time, our priority is to do all we can to lift and support his family, friends, fellow Airmen in his squadron and loved ones who are struggling."

The tragedy closely follows the death of another Massachusetts-based airman deployed to Kuwait. On Sept. 12, Senior Airman Jason Kai Phan, 26, was killed in a "single-vehicle noncombat-related" accident while he was conducting a patrol around the perimeter of Ali Al Salem.

That incident, which left two other airmen injured, is also under investigation.

Phan was from Anaheim, California, but was stationed at Hanscom Air Force Base, Massachusetts.

Ouellette and Phan are the seventh and eighth troops to die this year in noncombat incidents while deployed in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, the fight against ISIS in Iraq and Syria. In all, 12 U.S. troops have died while supporting that mission in 2020.

US designates Al Jazeera affiliate as foreign agent

In what is seen as a highly political move, the US Justice Department has ordered Al Jazeera’s affiliate youth channel AJ+ to register as a foreign agent. The decision has sparked controversy, with the Qataris suggesting that the move was one of the demands made by the UAE before normalising relations with Israel.

AJ+ – a network that primarily produces short videos for social media in English as well as Arabic, French and Spanish, the US justice Department said in a letter obtained by the New York Times had engaged in “political activities” on behalf of Qatar’s government and should therefore be subject to the Foreign Agents Registration Act.

Explaining its determination, the letter claimed that Qatar provides AJ+ funding and appoints its board of directors and that the channel was seeking to influence US perception. “Journalism designed to influence American perceptions of a domestic policy issue or a foreign nation’s activities or its leadership qualifies as ‘political activities’ under the statutory definition,” said the letter, “even if it views itself as ‘balanced.’”

Al Jazeera Media Network, AJ+’s parent organisation, insisted that AJ+ was independent and therefore should not have to register as a foreign agent, and that it was “considering our options”.

Al Jazeera has suggested that the move was politically motivated, coming as it did at the same time as the UAE had normalised relations with Israel and in light of Abu Dhabi’s deep hostility towards its Gulf neighbour.

“The U.A.E. has confirmed it presented the United States with preconditions prior to announcing the Abraham Accords, and we received D.O.J.’s letter the day before the U.A.E. signed the Accords,” said Al Jazeera’s statement, referring to the agreement signed at the White House yesterday. “Hobbling Al Jazeera was one of the top conditions of the U.A.E.’s blockade against Qatar and the Justice Department just gave the U.A.E. what it wanted.”

Denying the allegation, Emirates’ Ambassador to the United States, Yousef Al-Otaiba, said in an email to the Times: “At no point in our discussions was Al Jazeera or even Qatar raised.” He added, of Al Jazeera, “they’re really not as important as they think they are.”

Al Jazeera has been a major target in the UAE and Saudi led cold war with Qatar, which saw the gas rich Gulf Kingdom put under a blockade in 2017. One of the 13 demands made by the blockading countries, which include Egypt and Bahrain, is the closure of Al Jazeera before relations return to normal with Qatar.

Senior chief convicted of unauthorized absence from his unit

A Mississippi-based Navy senior chief was convicted last week for being absent without authorization from his unit for nearly two weeks.

A military judge sentenced Senior Chief Construction Mechanic Luis H. Garcia to a letter of reprimand and a fine of $2,000 after a court-martial panel found him guilty of leaving the Seventh Naval Construction Regiment from Sept. 27 to Oct. 9, according to court records.

His Navy attorney, Lt. Cmdr. Michael Collett, declined comment.

Garcia was acquitted of several other charges at trial, including allegations of sexual assault and disobeying superiors, according to court records.

Before the Sept. 8 sentencing, Garcia had been held in pretrial confinement for 335 days.
