QAnon: Mysterious conspiracy leader points followers to Tucker Carlson interview warning of âcoupâ against Trump
The anonymous âQâ, mysterious inspirer of the QAnon movement, has posted a cryptic message warning of an effort to disrupt and delegitimise the election â and pointing as evidence to an interview conducted by Fox News host Tucker Carlson.
The interview featured a former White House staffer using a well-worn Kremlin-style conspiracy theory to outline a supposed Democratic plot against Donald Trump, one thatâs supposedly being advanced by hidden "operatives".
QAnon, which largely revolves around messages that the unidentified Q posts on online forums, takes as one of its core tenets that the Trump administration is doing battle with a âdeep stateâ conspiracy of cannibalistic left-wing paedophiles who are determined to remove the president from power.
As a corollary, the prospect of a disputed election result in which the Democrats either claim victory or dispute a Trump win looms large among QAnon followers, many of whom are convinced that Mr Trump and his allies are preparing for a climactic confrontation with their enemies â a violent clash they often refer to as âthe stormâ.
As with many previous posts, Qâs latest drop frames the current confluence of disastrous phenomena â fires, riots and the coronavirus â as a precursor for what is to come. âMake no mistake,â it reads, âthey will not concede on Election Night.
âMake no mistake, they will contest this legally in battleground states.
âMake no mistake, they will project doubt in the election results.
âMake no mistake, they will organise massive riots and attempt Anarchy-99 design
âPlaybook known. Qâ
The post then links to an interview Mr Carlson conducted on his show yesterday with Darren Beattie, a former White House speechwriter who was fired in 2018 after it transpired he had attended a conference where he shared a panel with outspoken white nationalists.
In the interview, Mr Carlson asked Mr Beattie whether a coup against Mr Trump is in the offing, and specifically whether it bears any resemblance to the âcolour revolutionsâ that sprung up in various post-Soviet states over the last two decades.
âWhatâs unfolding before our eyes,â said Mr Beattie, âis a very specific type of coup called the Colour Revolution. Itâs a regime change model favoured by many in our national security apparatus, particularly against Eastern European countries to overthrow target regimes that they donât like.â
Describing the difference between a Colour Revolution and a garden-variety military coup, Mr Beattie called the model âa little bit more delicate and subtleâ.
âThe chief characteristic of it is a combination of an engineered contested election scenario combined with massive mobilised protests, which they call as a term of art âpeaceful protestsâ and âacts of civil disobedienceâ.
He continued: âIf that sounds familiar, it gets even better. Itâs not only the same strategy and tactics used against Trump that was used against Eastern European dictators that our national security apparatus doesnât like ⌠Itâs the very same people, using the very same playbook.â
Conspiracy theories and false claims about Colour Revolutions and similar incidents are a common feature of Russian disinformation campaigns, particularly as relates to the 2014 Euromaidan uprising in Ukraine, which the Kremlin has often described as a coup covertly organised by nefarious Western forces rather than a grassroots-up popular movement.

As part of his extended monologue, Mr Beattie focused on a particular figure he described as âa nexus pointâ in the Democratsâ revolutionary conspiracy: Norm Eisen, a former ambassador and White House ethics czar who served as special counsel to the House Judiciary Committee during Mr Trumpâs impeachment.
Describing him as a âDemocrat operativeâ, Mr Beattie said âhe is also a key architect of nearly every effort to censor, sue, impeach and overthrow the president. He is the author, in fact, of a Colour Revolution playbook, literally called âThe Playbookâ, and one of the items that he calls for in his playbook to overthrow regimes overseas he doesnât like is engineering election fraud scenarios, using election fraud to engineer mass protests to question the legitimacy of the target leader.â
Mr Beattiesâs focus on a supposedly shadowy unelected Democratic âoperativeâ is highly reminiscent of QAnonâs underpinning logic, which pits Mr Trump and his allies against âdeep stateâ operatives with malevolent, even satanic motives that they pursue out of public view.
The playbook that Mr Beattie described is in fact a widely available co-authored Brookings Institution report called âThe Democracy Playbook: Preventing and Reversing Democratic Backslidingâ. The section on election fraud relates specifically to authoritarian countries with a history of vote-rigging where opposition movements have the chance to plan in advance for what to do when detectable election fraud occurs.
It is in fact Mr Trump alleging vast election fraud and urging his supporters to resist it, whereas Joe Biden and his campaign are urging as many Americans to vote as soon as possible to ensure their ballots are properly counted.

Increasing Exposure of Color Revolution Against Trump
Sept. 16, 2020 (EIRNS)âOn Sept. 15, Tucker Carlson brought onto his show Darren Beattie, a former Trump speechwriter. Beattie explained to viewers that the same networks promoting color revolutions overseas are now training their sights on President Donald Trump: âWhatâs unfolding before our eyes is a very specific type of coup called the âcolor revolution.ââ â
Similarly, Revolver website posted a multi-part series on the color revolution against Trump, with its Sept. 9 installment taking up Norm Eisen, one of the participants in the Transition Integrity Projectâs war gaming of the 2020 election. Eisen was Obamaâs White House ethics czar and was hired by the Democratic leadership of the House Judiciary Committee in 2019, where he prepared ten articles of impeachment against Trump a month before Pelosi announced an official impeachment inquiry. He himself took part in the impeachment proceedings.
But his involvement in ousting Trump began even before the nomination. Eisen ran Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), financed amongst others by George Sorosâs Open Society, which partnered with David Brock to put forward a blueprintâissued before the inaugurationâfor attacking Trump through such means as policing social media, getting tech companies to censor content (media platforms ⌠will no longer uncritically and without consequence host and enrich fake news), impeachment itself, fake news (a steady flow of damaging information, new revelations), and other techniques.
Eisen co-authored âThe Democracy Playbook: Preventing and Reversing Democratic Backsliding,â a Brookings guide to the perplexed seeking to institute policies through frankly undemocratic means. Eisen named Gene Sharpâs From Dictatorship to Democracy as an inspiration for his document.
Consider another color revolutionary. Michael McFaul, former U.S. Ambassador to Russia and a supporter of the Ukraine color revolution, realized that âcolor revolutionâ was taking on a negative connotation. In August he tweeted a revised nomenclature:
âAutocrats have demonized the phrase, âcolor revolutions.â (& revolution generally has a negative connotation for many.) Instead, I use the term âdemocratic breakthroughs.ââ â
What kind of democratic breakthrough? Consider McFaulâs Sept. 4 tweet:
âTrump has lost the Intelligence Community. He has lost the State Department. He has lost the military. How can he continue to serve as our Commander in Chief?â
Astute readers will note that neither the IC, State Department, or military appoint the President, who takes that office by means that are actually democraticâan election!
Eisen also heads the Transatlantic Democracy Working Group, whose website announces that it is âa bipartisan and transatlantic platform for discourse and coordination to address democratic backsliding in Europe.â What is âdemocratic backslidingâ? Naturally, itâs when the plebes get uppity and vote for their favored candidates, as in, you know, elections.
