More on my dig into the Tucson Owl Club and the Douglas family from Jerome. When James Douglas was running the town he built a fancy hotel where they say the miners lived, doubt it. Anyhoo it went to ruins and a couple named Walter and Lisa Acker bought and restored it. It was on the market for 6.2 million after Walter Ackers death. It recently sold at auction for 1.9 million. Somebody took a big hit because there is at least that much invested in the restoration. Acker is a big name in Prescott. The Acker family was also involved in the mining business. The views from this place are amazing, it's like sitting on top of the world. Despite what people say Jerome was a very rich town, they had the biggest strike in all the west. Lots of money.

The roof garden is pretty amazing. Whoever bought this place got a bargain. It reminds me of the hanging gardens of babylon.
