The Library of Alexandria is on Fire

>corbettreport

We all know the story of the Library of Alexandria, the vast repository of ancient texts

that was burnt to the ground by Caesar in 48 B.C. While the story itself isn't accurate,

it speaks to us today as we face the digital book burnings that are threatening the

modern-day Library of Alexandria: the internet. In this speech delivered at the

AE911Truth Justice Rising conference on September 13, 2020, James Corbett

connects the dots from that ancient story to the internet censorship of today,

and outlines what we can do to fight the fire that is threatening our most

important information.

UK: Londoners express frustration with shortages as they queue for COVID-19 tests

Londoners expressed their frustrations about testing shortfalls as they queued outside a

COVID-19 testing centre in Enfield on Friday.

One man hoping to get a walk-in test described the online booking system as "totally and

utterly useless," complaining that "You cannot get a test for love nor money."

Another visitor voiced similar sentiments, saying that the "problem is within the government.

They need to be well organised and provide more testing centres."

The limited number of walk-in tests available was also highlighted by one local woman, who

explained that "Not everyone is going to be able to get seen today because they've only

got a certain amount of people for walk-ins and the rest is for booking only."

"All of these people that come early, half of them won't get it," she added.

The UK has been experiencing a rise in coronavirus cases in recent weeks, amid growing

fears of a second wave, with the government imposing a wave of new restrictions in

north-eastern England on Thursday.

On Thursday the head of the UK's test-and-trace programme, Dido Harding, gave evidence

to parliamentarians where she admitted that there "is significantly more demand than there

is capacity today."

"The number of people calling 119 [NHS COVID-19 telephone number] and visiting the

website would be three to four times the number of tests that we currently have available

but there will be some double counting in that," she added.

The UK currently has the capacity to process 242,000 tests a day, a figure which it is hoping

to more than double to 500,000 a day by the end of October, according to Harding.

On Thursday the UK reported a further 3,395 confirmed coronavirus cases, as well as 21

more related deaths.

Novichok creator challenges Navalny poisoning allegations

Russian scientist Leonid Rink, who was involved in the creation of the Novichok

nerve agent, disputed allegations that Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny

was poisoned with the substance last month, speaking in an interview with RT.

"First of all, even in small, nontoxic doses, Novichok is responsible for contraction

of pupils, so-called myosis. In this stance, a person can barely move around because

his eyesight is almost switched off. That is why, in case of even a small dose, Navalny

would be unable to reach the plane and to move in the plane," he said.

Navalny's associates said on Thursday that Novichok traces were allegedly found on

a water bottle in the hotel room in Tomsk, where he stayed the night before falling ill

on a flight to Moscow last month.

Rink commented on the news, saying that โ€œhe would be unable to leave the hotel if

he touched anything there or the more so if he consumed it. He would not leave the hotel.โ€

Navalny arrived in Berlin aboard a medical plane on August 22, after falling ill during a

flight from Tomsk to Moscow on August 20. The original plane had been forced to make

an emergency landing in Omsk where Navalny was rushed to the hospital.

On September 11 German government said that independent laboratories from France

and Sweden confirmed that Navalny was poisoned by Novichok.

On Monday Navalny was removed from a ventilator and was able to leave his bed for

short periods of time, according to hospital officials. A picture of Navalny from his hospital

bed along with family members was posted to his Instagram account on Tuesday.

Germany: 150 unaccompanied minor migrants still to arrive from Greece - govt. spox.

The spokesperson for Interior Ministry, Steve Alter, announced that the 150 unaccompanied

migrant children to be taken from Greece to Germany, are still yet to arrive, at the weekly

press conference in Berlin on Friday.

The unaccompanied minors have been evacuated following a devastating fire at the Moria

camp, on Lesbos. Alter also said there have been several arrests by the Greek authorities.

German government spokesperson Stefan Seibert said that the German government have

"urgently asked and demanded [for] Russia to explain themselves regarding the incident

and this demand is still standing.''

Spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry Maria Adebahr said Monday would mark the start of

Germany weighing up whether to expand sanctions against Belarusian politicians, if "violence

against the peaceful opposition doesn't stop."

"The consultations about how to proceed with sanctions against Belarus, which we support,

will have to be discussed on Monday," she said.
