The process needs to take at least a month for the sake of appearances. With K the timeline was:

  • July 2: 45 minute interview with POTUS

  • July 9: Formal nomination

  • September 4: Senate Judiciary hearings began.

  • September 27: More hearings for shenanigans.

  • October 5: Senate voted for cloture.

  • October 6, Confirmation

So it won't be before Nov 3rd.

>So you're saying we probably won't fill her seat until 2021?

It will take 2-3 months. It probably wont be settled before Election Day. But it could easily be finished in the 7 weeks after the election.

>Isn't the consensus between anons that election will go before the SC?

Why would it? The electoral college process is legally unambiguous. There may be some contention about mysteriously appearing ballots being counted or not. But will be a State court matter.

>Plus there's the whole thing with rank choice voting in maine which may decide the election since it's a smaller state electorally compared to NY or FL.

It's not gonna be that close. We only have 4 electoral votes.
