Sarasota man faces 200 child pornography counts

SARASOTA COUNTY – The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Sarasota man Thursday after detectives reportedly found more than 1,000 photos and videos determined to be child pornography on various devices in his home.

Detectives began the investigation into 55-year-old Harold Brooks after an image depicting a girl around 5 years old was traced to an IP address that corresponded with his Comcast account.

During a search of his apartment, detectives found a laptop computer that contained that image, along with numerous others. A USB thumbnail drive was searched and more images were found. Additional devices and Brooks’ phone were also confiscated.

Brooks was arrested and charged with 200 counts of possession of child pornography. He is being held without bond as the investigation is ongoing.
