If the federal government had not usurped power from the states there would be no need to debate the breaking up of America. The power was usurped in violation of the constitution. The federal government no longer governs by the consent of the states. It overpowers them at every turn.

A federal government that is not overpowered is a good thing, despite shortcomings at the state level. All the liberals could migrate to a liberal state, all of the conservatives to a conservative state, and nobody would have to fight a death match over liberal-versus conservative policies at the federal level, which affect EVERYBODY. I think this was the original vision of the framers of the constitution.
