The poisoned letter addressed to United States President Donald Trump appears to have gone through Montreal.
The envelope is clearly postmarked “H4T”, according to an image posted by CNN.
The postal code corresponds to an industrial district of St-Laurent located between Highway 13, Highway 40 and Côte-de-Liesse, where Canada Post has a sorting facility.
Canadian law enforcement has been called in to help the FBI investigate after American authorities found that the envelope addressed to the White House contained the poison ricin.
“Initial information from the investigation suggests that the letter originated in Canada,” RCMP spokesman Dan Brien said in an email on Saturday.
The letter was intercepted at a government facility that screens mail addressed to the White House and President Donald Trump, an American law enforcement official told the Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak on the matter.

(Bloomberg) – Vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris is expected to play a prominent role in the fight against President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, though it’s not clear whether she’ll tear into pick in the same way she went after now-Justice Brett Kavanaugh, an appearance that brought her to national prominence.
During the Kavanugh hearing, Harris was just one of 100 senators. Now she’s Democratic nominee Joe Biden’s running mate, and people close to Biden say the campaign hasn’t decided exactly how to play it.
On one hand, Harris’s seat on the Senate Judiciary Committee which she still holds gives her the perfect platform to lead the charge against whoever Trump picks to replace Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who died Friday. The Judiciary Committee oversees the confirmation hearing, and Kavanaugh’s hearing galvanized the nation, with Harris in a leading role.
The question now, however, is whether her place on a presidential ticket might call for a different and more measured approach.
Biden advisers have already shown a desire for Harris to “prosecute” the case against Trump, a phrase she used during her own presidential run and revived in recent weeks as Biden’s running mate. The Biden campaign will look for her to aggressively question whoever Trump picks and display the prosecutorial skills she honed as California’s attorney general and San Francisco’s district attorney.
canadian woman suspected

The Canadian national police force said that they have been cooperating with the FBI after it was discovered that the letters originated in Canada.
Intelligence officials suspect a Canadian woman of sending packages containing poison ricin to the White House, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).
A spokesperson for the RCMP said earlier that the initial information suggests that the letter originated in Canada and confirmed it was assisting the FBI in the investigation.
The identity of the suspect has not been released yet.
Federal agents, Secret Service, and US Postal Inspection Service are now trying to detect if any other poisonous packages were sent to public officials, but the FBI said that at the moment, there is no known threat to public safety.
This is not the first time a poisonous package has been sent to US officials: in 2018, a Navy veteran from Utah was charged with sending mailings containing ricin to President Trump and then-Defence Secretary James Mattis.
