U.S. Reimposes UN Sanctions on Iran Despite Europe's Opposition

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has announced that the United States will reimpose United Nations sanctions on Iran after the sanctions had been lifted in 2015 by Barack Obama as part of a nuclear deal with Tehran.

This is the Obama-promised sanctions “snapback” that was part of the nuclear deal.

Before getting sanctions relief, Iran has to take significant, concrete steps like removing centrifuges and getting rid of its stockpile. If Iran violates the agreement over the next decade, all of the sanctions can snap back into place. We won’t need the support of other members of the U.N. Security Council; America can trigger snapback on our own.

Iran removed centrifuges and replaced them with machines three times more efficient. They shipped off their stockpile of enriched uranium, only to have Russia start sending it back less than three years later.

And Obama lied about a sanctions “snapback.” Pompeo announced the sanctions are snapped back but the rest of the world is refusing to join us.

The Hill:

“The United States expects all UN Member States to fully comply with their obligations to implement these measures,” Pompeo said in a statement. “In addition to the arms embargo, this includes restrictions such as the ban on Iran engaging in enrichment and reprocessing-related activities, the prohibition on ballistic missile testing and development by Iran, and sanctions on the transfer of nuclear- and missile-related technologies to Iran, among others.”

There will be a price to pay for our allies who don’t join us in reimposing sanctions.

Pompeo said that if UN Member States don’t back the sanctions, the U.S. “is prepared to use our domestic authorities to impose consequences for those failures and ensure that Iran does not reap the benefits of UN-prohibited activity.”

“In the coming days, the United States will announce a range of additional measures to strengthen implementation of UN sanctions and hold violators accountable,” Pompeo added.

Following the lifting of sanctions in 2015, Iran signed billions of dollars in business deals with Europeans to increase trade and exploit natural resources. This is the major reason Europeans won’t back our sanctions play with Iran today.

The Iran deal was always more about giving the Europeans a way out of their commitments to back the U.S. if we decided to go to war with Iran over the ayatollahs’ nuclear program than it was about seriously trying to prevent Iran from getting the bomb. Obama got to say he made “history” and the Europeans breathed a sigh of relief and eagerly got in line to sign commercial deals with the Iranians. In retrospect, Iran was mildly inconvenienced in its quest for a bomb — an effort it has restarted in earnest.

Iranian Ambassador to the U.N. Majid Takht Ravanchi said the sanctions were “null and void.”

‘US’ illegal & false ‘deadline’ has come and gone.” Ravanchi wrote on Twitter, warning that the U.S. “swimming against int’l currents will only bring it more isolation.”

A terrorist state working to get the ultimate weapon is receiving tacit support from our allies because joining us would cost them too much.

Democrats Raise $100 Million After Ginsburg’s Death

The biggest online fundraising platform for Democrats raised $100 million since the announcement of the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

“Small-dollar donors have now given $100 million on ActBlue since 8 p.m. ET Friday, investing in candidates up and down the ballot and orgs on the front lines of the impending judicial confirmation fight. The grassroots is ready to fight to honor Justice Ginsburg’s legacy,” ActBlue, the fundraising platform, wrote on Twitter.

“The loss of Justice Ginsburg is devastating. In this difficult moment for our country, we remain inspired and in awe of the small-dollar donors who are showing incredible people power, and already fighting like never before in her honor.”

Donors gave a record $6.3 million in the first hour after Ginsburg’s passing and $70.6 million on the next day, according to The Hill. The previous records were $4 million in one hour $42 million in one day.

Ginsburg passed away on Sept. 18 surrounded by her family in her home in Washington. She was considered the leader of the liberal minority on the bench of the Supreme Court.

President Donald Trump has since announced that he will nominate a woman to take the vacant seat on the Supreme Court. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who gets to make the call whether to bring the nomination to the Senate floor, said Trump’s appointee will get a vote.

Democrats vehemently oppose voting on a nominee before the presidential inauguration on Jan. 20 next year in hopes of gaining control of either the White House or the Senate.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) told his colleagues during a Democratic caucus call on Saturday afternoon that retaliation is possible if Republicans fill the seat left vacant by Ginsburg before January.

“Let me be clear: if Leader McConnell and Senate Republicans move forward with this, then nothing is off the table for next year,” Schumer said, according to Politico. “Nothing is off the table.”

Top Fatah official talks of ‘Zionist territorial designs from Nile to Euphrates’

Railing against Israel’s peace deals with UAE and Bahrain, Azzam Al-Ahmad claims Palestinians are defending all Arab nations from Israel’s expansion plots

A senior Palestinian official has said the Palestinian people protect Arab nations from “the Zionist territorial designs from the Nile to the Euphrates.”

Speaking last week in criticism of the decision by the United Arab Emirates to normalize ties with Israel, Fatah Central Committee Member Azzam Al-Ahmad told Qatar’s Al-Araby TV: “We hope that the people [of the UAE and Bahrain] will restrain [their leaders] and make them reconsider what they have signed. Do not destroy yourselves and the future of the entire Arab nation.”

His comments were provided and translated over the weekend by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).

He explained: “We the Palestinians are defending all of you — we are defending Mecca, Baghdad, Cairo, Amman and Damascus. This is our destiny as Palestinians.

— MEMRI (@MEMRIReports) September 18, 2020

“We are the sentinels in Jerusalem who defend it against the Zionist territorial designs from the Nile to the Euphrates.”

Al-Ahmad vowed to “continue to serve as the spearhead in the confrontation against the American administration and the Zionist movement. We… will continue to persevere and fight. We have been fighting for over 100 years in defense of the Arab nation and the Islamic and Christian holy sites.”

The Palestinian Authority has lambasted the deal, accusing Gulf states of betrayal and of a “stab in the back” of Palestinians.

A coalition representing a wide swath of Palestinian factions — including both Fatah and Hamas — called for a “day of Intifada-like rejection” of the normalization deal on Tuesday. In response, several sporadic demonstrations were held across the West Bank and Gaza, each numbering a few hundred.

The Palestinians have found themselves increasingly isolated in their efforts to cut Israel off from the Arab world.

The PA was unable to muster much support during a summit of the 22-member Arab League earlier in the month, with Arab foreign ministers failing to back a Palestinian push to the normalization deal.

GOP's Scott, Baker don't want Trump to fill Supreme Court vacancy before election

Filling Justice Ginsburg's seat creates a divide among the GOP

Moderate Republican Govs. Phil Scott of Vermont and Charlie Baker of Massachusetts separately pushed for the Trump administration to hold off on filling Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s seat until after Election Day.

"The passing of Justice Ginsburg is not only a loss for the court but for the entire nation, and I urge President Trump and the U.S. Senate to allow the American people to cast their ballots for president before a new justice is nominated or confirmed," Baker wrote on Twitter.

"The Supreme Court is too important to rush and must be removed from partisan political infighting," he continued.

Scott expressed a similar sentiment following news of Ginsburg's death Friday at the age of 87.

"I am saddened to learn of the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg," Scott wrote on Twitter. "I send my heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues. … While it is important to take the time to mourn her passing, we must also follow precedent, as well as her dying wishes, and delay the appointment process until after Inauguration Day."

Moderates including Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, oppose President Trump's intention to nominate a new Supreme Court justice before Americans vote in November. Collins, who is in a reelection fight, said on Saturday she wants whoever wins in November to nominate the next justice. She faced backlash in 2018 for supporting Trump nominee Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

"In fairness to the American people, who will either be reelecting the president or selecting a new one, the decision on a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court should be made by the president who is elected on November 3," she said in a statement.

And former Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., a noted Trump critic, also opposes nominating a justice before the election in November. He compared the situation at hand to that of former President Barack Obama nominating Merrick Garland to succeed the late Justice Antonin Scalia in 2016.

"In 2016, nine months before an election, we Republicans said that the next president should fill a Supreme Court vacancy," Flake wrote on Twitter on Saturday. "Today, six weeks before an election, we should hold the same position. Preserving the institution of the Senate should be paramount to any political gain."

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced, soon after Ginsburg's death, that the Senate would vote on a nominee put forward by Trump to replace her.

McConnell hopes to avoid any Republican defections as Democrats plan to try to peel off enough GOP senators to defeat a vote before Inauguration Day. (A tie would place the fate of a nominee in the hands of Vice President Pence, in his role as Senate president.)

Pelosi Stonewalls Bill That Would Crack Down on Chinese Influence in U.S.

House Dems block bill to crack down on regime-sponsored Confucius Institutes

House Democrats are blocking a bill that will curtail the influence of the Chinese-government-funded Confucius Institute, stymying bipartisan legislation that unanimously passed in the Senate.

Despite bipartisan support in the upper chamber, House Democrats—including a cosponsor for the bill—voted against placing the CONFUCIUS Act on the agenda in late July, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) has yet to announce plans to place the bill on the floor. If passed, the legislation would require all federally funded universities with Confucius Institutes to assume "full managerial control" of the institutes, a move that would limit the Chinese government's influence over the program.

Frustrated by the lack of action, congressional Republicans are blaming Pelosi for blocking debate for the bill, criticizing the House speaker for putting politics over national security.

"I regret that Speaker Pelosi has still not scheduled the CONFUCIUS Act for a vote," said Rules Committee Ranking Member Tom Cole, who introduced the July vote. "This isn’t about politics. It’s about holding China accountable, and Speaker Pelosi clearly hasn’t made that a priority."

This is not the first time Democrats have opposed bipartisan legislation that sought to hold China accountable. In March, House Democrats railed against a bill that demanded Beijing disavow its conspiracy theory that the novel coronavirus originated in a U.S. military lab, labeling the bill racist against Asian Americans. House Democrats also dropped out of the then-bipartisan China task force in an unexplained, last minute decision in February.

Pelosi's office did not respond to a request for comment.

At its peak in 2017, Confucius Institute had branches in more than 100 universities across the country, allowing Beijing to teach Mandarin to thousands of U.S. college students. The government-vetted teachers are not allowed to discuss topics deemed sensitive by the Chinese government, such as human-rights abuses in Xinjiang and Tibet.

A bipartisan group of legislators have long worried that the program gives the Chinese government undue influence over campuses, prompting legislative action. The CONFUCIUS Act—which stands for Concerns Over Nations Funding University Campus Institutes in the United States—required universities to uphold academic freedom and prevent the exercise of foreign law on American campuses—a key provision, since Beijing often required Confucius Institute teachers to abide by Chinese laws. The bill, introduced by Sen. John Kennedy (R., La.), unanimously passed the Senate in June.

Another Rocket Strike Hit U.S. Base Inside Baghdad International Airport

Late on September 20, a new rocket strike targeted the Baghdad International Airport, where U.S. troops maintain a base.

The Iraqi Security Media Cell said a “Katyusha” [107 mm] rocket was launched from Abu Ghraib at the airport. However, Sabereen News, a Telegram channel close to Shiite armed groups in the country, said the airport was targeted with two salvos of rockets.

Rocket sirens can be clearly heard in several videos from airport and its vicinity. The sirens went on for a long period of time. This suggests that several rockets were detected.

According to Sabereen News, the strike targeted the U.S.-held part of Baghdad International Airport, known as “Victoria Base.”

Exactly ten days ago, a similar rocket strike hit the army post office in Victoria Base. No human losses were reported as a result of the attack.

Iraqi Shiite armed groups are allegedly behind the recent attacks on U.S. troops and bases in the country. Following the assassination of Iranian Quds Force Commander, Qassim Soleimani, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, Deputy-Commander of the Popular Mobilization Units, many of these groups vowed to kick out U.S. troops.

Italy Defies Virus For Vote As Far-right Plots Seismic Change

Italians headed to the polls Sunday to the alarm of coronavirus experts for a referendum and regional elections that could weaken the government and radically reshape the political landscape.

Just a week after a Herculean effort by schools to reopen in line with last-minute Covid-19 rules, classrooms across the country were shut to pupils and transformed into ballot stations for the two-day vote.

A triumph for the far-right in this fiercely fought campaign would sound alarm bells in Brussels.

It will be the first test for Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte's centre-left coalition government since it imposed an economically crippling nationwide lockdown to fight the virus, which has killed almost 36,000 people.

The referendum, on slashing the number of members of parliament from 630 to 400 in the lower house, and 315 to 200 in the upper house is expected to pass, though there has been a late uptick in the number of prominent 'no' declarations.

Mid-Sunday, turnout for the referendum stood at 12.3 percent, the interior ministry said.

The cost-cutting reform is the brainchild of the co-governing Five Star Movement (M5S), but while its centre-left coalition Democratic Party (PD) partner and parties on the right are theoretically in favour, their support has been lacklustre at best.

‘Uncertainty’ Keeps UN From Taking Action on US’ Anti-Iran Sanctions’ Claims, Guterres Says: Report

Earlier on Sunday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry slammed Washington’s announcement on the restoration of all UN sanctions against Tehran as something that poses “the biggest threat to peace and international security”.

In a letter to the UN Security Council seen by Reuters, Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated that he cannot take any action on the US declaring the reinstatement of all UN sanctions against Iran due to what he described as uncertainty related to the issue.

“There would appear to be uncertainty whether or not the process […] was indeed initiated and concomitantly whether or not the [sanctions] terminations […] continue in effect. It is not for the Secretary-General to proceed as if no such uncertainty exists”, Guterres pointed out.

The remarks come as Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh hit out at the US over its anti-Iranian sanctions-related announcement, urging the White House to reconcile with the international community and get back to observing its legal commitments.

“Tehran's message to Washington is clear — return to the international community, act in accordance with your obligations and stop the rebellion. In this case, the international community will accept you [Washington]”, Khatibzadeh said in a statement earlier on Sunday.

He also described the actions as making the US appear as "the biggest threat to peace and international security", also insisting that claims about the restoration of the sanctions are false, as no such developments have taken place at the UN Security Council.

The statement was echoed by that of the Russian Foreign Ministry, which accused the US of continuing to mislead the international community by “speculating that the UN Security Council conducted some sort of procedures to restore the effect of UNSC resolutions on Iran sanctions, which were cancelled after the signing of the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)”, also known as the Iran nuclear deal.

“The facts are that the UN Security Council did not take any action that would lead to the restoration of old sanctions against Iran. All that Washington does is nothing more than a theatrical performance staged in order to subordinate the Security Council to its policy of 'maximum pressure' on Iran and turn this authoritative body into its handy tool”, the ministry stressed, calling on Washington to "stop speaking on behalf of the UN Security Council”.

Tenn. Man Accused of Kidnapping Ark. Girl Sentenced to 23 Years For Production of Child Porn

LITTLE ROCK—A Tennessee man was sentenced late Thursday on one count of production of child pornography. United States District Court Judge James M. Moody sentenced Craig Gillum, 55, of Shelbyville, Tennessee, to 280 months in federal prison. Cody Hiland, the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas, and Diane Upchurch, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Little Rock Field Office, announced the sentencing.

In January 2018, the parents of a 16-year-old female reported to authorities that she was missing from her home in Trumann, Arkansas. Officers identified the minor’s email and searched the account, which revealed sexually explicit messages from Gillum. In some of the emails, Gillum sent explicit photos of himself to the minor, and he requested and received images of child pornography from the “little girl,” as he referred to her in the messages.

On February 1, 2018, investigating agents learned the minor was located at a motel room in Nebraska with Gillum. Agents found the minor, whose hair had been cut and colored. The minor told investigators Gillum had picked her up in Trumann and driven her to Nebraska.

“This defendant manipulated a child into sending explicit images and then transported her out of the state to continue his depravity,” said U.S. Attorney Hiland. “Fortunately, he will spend the next 23 years in prison, where he cannot harm another child. We will seek the same lengthy sentence for anyone who seeks to take advantage of children in our communities.”

“Mr. Gillum’s despicable crimes separated an underage girl from her family and placed her in a repugnant situation,” said FBI Little Rock Special Agent in Charge Diane Upchurch. “Our agents work every day to counter evil in our state, which is why I’m so pleased they were able to apprehend Mr. Gillum and rescue his young victim. We urge anyone with information about child sexual abuse to contact the FBI immediately!”

On December 4, 2018, Gillum was charged in a three-count indictment with two counts of production of child pornography and one count of receipt of child pornography. The defendant pleaded guilty to one count of production of child pornography on August 1, 2019.

In addition to the prison term, Gillum was sentenced to ten years of supervised release following his imprisonment. The investigation was conducted by the FBI, and the case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kristin Bryant.

Tech Elites Endorse Joe Biden to Secure More Foreign Workers for U.S. Jobs

Tech industry elites have endorsed Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden, citing their opposition to President Trump’s efforts to prioritize Americans for high-paying tech jobs in the United States.

Twenty-four winners of the Turing Award, considered the Nobel Peace Prize for computer science, have endorsed Biden on the premise that the former vice president will allow the tech industry to import more foreign workers, specifically those on H-1B visas, to fill coveted U.S. jobs.

The list includes Google executive Vinton Cerf, Pixar executive Ed Catmull, Facebook executive Yann LeCun, and Alphabet executive John Hennessy.

“Information technology is thoroughly globalized. Academic computer science departments attract talented students, many of whom immigrate and become American inventors and captains of industry,” the executives and industry insiders wrote in their endorsement of Biden:

We celebrate open source projects, the lifeblood of our field, as exemplars of international collaboration. Computer Science is at its best when its learnings and discoveries are shared freely in the spirit of progress. These core values helped make America a leader in information technology, so vital in this Information Age. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris listen to experts before setting public policy, essential when science and technology may help with many problems facing our nation today. As American computer scientists and as US citizens, we enthusiastically endorse Joe Biden for President and Kamala Harris for Vice President. [Emphasis added]

Since mass unemployment hit the U.S., spurred by the Chinese coronavirus crisis, Trump signed an executive order halting a number of visa programs including the H-1B visa. Likewise, the Trump administration is eyeing H-1B visa reforms that would more effectively weed out the business model of outsourcing that has allowed American workers to be replaced by foreign H-1B visa workers.

In August, billion dollar tech corporations such as Amazon, Apple, Facebook, and Twitter signed onto a U.S. Chamber of Commerce lawsuit against Trump’s executive order — arguing that they have a right to import foreign workers to fill U.S. jobs.

Unlike Trump, Biden has promised to increase the number of foreign H-1B visa workers that tech corporations will be able to import every year. The practice is a boon to tech executives.

There are about 650,000 H-1B visa workers in the U.S. at any given moment. Americans are often laid off in the process and forced to train their foreign replacements, as highlighted by Breitbart News. More than 85,000 Americans annually potentially lose their jobs to foreign labor through the H-1B visa program.

Analysis conducted in 2018 discovered that 71 percent of tech workers in Silicon Valley, California, are foreign-born, while the tech industry in the San Francisco, Oakland, and Hayward area is made up of 50 percent foreign-born tech workers. Up to 99 percent of H-1B visa workers imported by the top eight outsourcing firms are from India.

Erasing History and Erasing Truth: Censorship and Destroying Records Is the Cornerstone of Tyrants

“If all mankind minus one were of one opinion, mankind would be no more justified in silencing that one person than he, if he had the power, would be justified in silencing mankind.”

~ John Stuart Mill, On Liberty ch. 2 (1859)

Tyranny requires that the truth be silenced, that real history be erased and rewritten, that speech be restricted, and that individual thought be silenced. In this time of constant turmoil, false flags, wars, civil unrest, and now internal bio-terrorism and manufactured pandemics, a major agenda of the state apparatus is to silence all dissent, and mandate conformity. It is imperative considering the state’s plan for total control that it stifle criticism and retain the power to control the mainstream narrative, while aggressively eliminating all other resistance and questioning. This is the state of the world that we live in today. As things continue to deteriorate, nonconformance cannot be allowed if global governance and a global reset are to be successful.

Current censorship has reached levels not seen in the past, and with all the advanced technology available, this nefarious plot to silence the thinkers and hide the truth could affect all forms of speech. It is getting much more difficult to find truthful information, as those like Google, Amazon, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and many other venues are eliminating content and access to content at a blistering pace. A day rarely goes by without something I am reading or researching on these sites being taken down or hidden. This can only lead to a world consumed by propaganda alone, thus guaranteeing that only the state narrative will be presented in any mainstream or easily accessible format. This is a dangerous situation, especially considering the likelihood that through vaccination or other methods, much of the population could soon become subject to transhuman experimentation where injectable nanoparticles and chips could be used to alter human behavior.

This is not a new phenomenon, as tyrants throughout human history have censored writing and speech in order to protect their power structure. Power is always troubled by any that dare to think, and any that dare to question. In ancient times and not so ancient times, books were burned to keep the populace from having access to any material that was not acceptable by the throne or by the current political authority. In cases of resistance to ‘high’ authority, many were also killed by the state, and in many cases these ‘cleansings’ were targeted to the educated class, because they had the capability to think critically and express their ideas publically. Those that held power by force of arms would never allow criticism and dissent, because that could lead to hostility and insurrection by the people.
