WASHINGTON โ€ข Rep. Ann Wagner was among those attending the Summit of Americas in Lima, Peru, over the weekend.

Wagner, R-Ballwin, and a former ambassador to Luxembourg in the George W. Bush administration, tweeted that she "met with presidents and leaders from all across the Americas."

"We held discussions on a range of issues including transparency, democracy, security threats, human trafficking, and U.S. involvement in the region," she said.

President Donald Trump was originally slated to attend the summit, but stayed in the U.S. late last week to oversee the U.S. military action in Syria as a response to chemical attacks on civilians there. Vice President Mike Pence went in his place, but skipped the opening banquet of the summit Friday night and returned to his hotel room as the U.S., France and Great Britain launched strikes in Syria.

Pence later addressed the gathering of 33 nations.

Leaders of the 33 nations agreed to confront systemic corruption in the hemisphere but did not come to a resolution on how to handle Venezuela's humanitarian crisis.
