The vice president also made an unannounced stop at St. Michael's Monastery, which provided refuge for injured and hungry protesters during the months-long protests in Kiev.

The Atlantic Council of the United States and Burisma Group Sign Cooperative Agreement
The Atlantic Council of the United States and Burisma Group, an independent gas producer in Ukraine, have announced a cooperative agreement. Atlantic Council will develop programs with Burisma’s support to strengthen transatlantic relations, including a focus on energy security and related issues.
The cooperative agreement will be led by the Atlantic Council’s Dinu Patriciu Eurasia Center, whose mission is to enhance transatlantic cooperation in promoting stability, democratic values, and prosperity in Eurasia, from Eastern Europe and Turkey in the West to the Caucasus, Russia, and Central Asia in the East. The Center’s Ukraine in Europe Initiative is designed to galvanize international support for an independent Ukraine within secure borders whose people will determine their own future.
