If you wish to re-do the map why not group things into smaller chunks and collate them into a large map

Have this graphic link out to another topic via the people i.e. Hillary as foreign sec. then into Benghazi sub-map, Haiti sub-map etc

Each issue gets a small graphical map with details but there is a larger graphical map connecting these by headings.

Once drafted we can maybe build a website that allows people to navigate through using the links, zooming out to get a bigger picture and seeing the web.
