It appears the real story is that Cohen is the one who is screaming about Mueller/Attorney client privilege,and perhaps trying to use Trump to cover his own ass. The details are scarce, but it seems that a few months after stopping most "work" with Trump, he took $500,000 dollars in what is being described as "personal business dealings" connected to 5 people.
Might have sold out Trump for cash.

So the Southern District of New York (which has Trump Tower in it's jurisdiction) has a case against Cohen. He got $500k from an international law firm.
Most likely selling information/access to Trump. But why is it a SDNY case? Cohen's text about Trump Tower, the international law firm (Perkins Coie?) and the case location seems verrrrrry sketchy now.
You can call him good or evil all you want. People who care about civil liberties aren't going to view him as good no matter what he does.
