The funding deadline is in 9 days. This means that the Senate will likely vote for Trump's supreme court appointee within the next 9 days. If the new justice is not confirmed within the next 9 days McConnell will likely not agree to a funding deal which will result in the Senate going into recess.
The Constitution states that “The President shall have Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session”
It all makes sense now why Chuck Yogurt and the progressive leaders are bitching and crying about Pelosi and other DNC'ers not doing anything and why there's so much in fighting within the DNC over RBG.
