I just see man made authority as arbitrary. The power an individual appears to have is only granted to him/her by other people that believe the individual is special in some way. Lack of self esteem/self worth only helps shift the power away from themselves and onto someone who’s more than willing to do whatever necessary to be perceived as powerful. When you internalize “all (hu)men are created equal” it breaks those “arbitrary chains” of the slave/master dynamic. Blindly taking orders is a symptom of a broken psyche. One of the primary reasons I was never able to enlist- if I can’t question “authority” without punishment, I cannot give them my power.
