Report: Org Claims It Has Partnered with LeBron James to Pay Fines, Fees for Florida Felons to Vote
According to a report, L.A. Lakers star LeBron James is looking to pay the fines, fees, and debts of Florida’s convicted felons, so that they can vote in the 2020 election.
Outkick the Coverage is reporting that the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition (FRRC) — a group James has donated $100,000 to — are sending text messages to Florida residents in hopes of getting the word about their project to the state’s convicts.
The FRRC, which says it is “teaming up” with James, are offering to pay the fees racked up by felons released from prison. Florida recently passed rules to allow criminals to regain their voting rights if they pay their court costs, fees, fines, and other costs first.
Many felons find paying the debts onerous. This is where, according to the report, James and his associates want to step in, settle the debts, and give the convicted felons their vote.

Poland, Lithuania And Romania Sign Open Letter Calling For New Elections And Market Liberalization In Belarus
As the Western campaign to force regime change on Belarus falters, politicians are altering their strategy and offering inducements to citizens of the strategically located country. The presidents of Lithuania, Poland and Romania have announced that they will ask European Union leaders at a summit later this week to offer a support package for Belarus if the country holds another election under the supervision of observors from the EU and the US.
The presidents of Poland, Lithuania and Romania signed an open letter which they released on Monday, reiterating their support for the “people of Belarus in building a democratic path, via democratically elected state leadership, a free civil society, market economy and the rule of law”.
The proposed package would include favourable trade conditions with the EU, visa-free travel and support in negotiations to join the World Trade Organization, according to a statement from the three presidents to the EU.
While Poland and Lithuania have long been vocal and enthusiastic supporters of pro-West and anti-Russia (and now anti-Belarus) campaigns and initiatives, this is the first time Romania’s political leadership has added its voice to the chorus. LINK
It seems that economic regime change is just as important as political regime change, as the statement also calls for financial assistance to be offered for economic reforms, and to diversify the energy sector and transition towards a liberal economy according to media reports.
The people of Belarus might not find the offer very appealing if they examine the results of such reforms in Ukraine and other central and eastern European countries.
Moreover, the support would only be offered after “new, democratic elections” with international observers in the country, the Lithuanian president’s office told Reuters.
“If Belarus citizens decide to undergo political and economic reforms in the country, to establish independent institutions to defend human rights and freedom of speech – we will help with our knowledge and experience”, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said in a statement.
Last week Poland’s prime minister, Mateusz Morawiecki, said Poland wants the European Union to offer Belarus financial assistance of at least 1 billion euros ($1.18 billion) as part of a ‘Marshal plan’ to rebuild the country.
Belarus has been at the centre of international and domestic intrigues following a presidential election last month that President Alexander Lukashenko claims to have won by a landslide, while the opposition says the electoral process was rigged. Neighbouring countries have been organising propaganda campaigns and hosting military exercises, and Belarus has responded with similar measures.
The EU has said it intends to impose sanctions on Minsk for alleged election fraud and human rights abuses but has not yet done so.

Billionaire family's windfall gain 'tip of iceberg' for land sales near new airport
A billionaire family's windfall gain from the sale of land next to Western Sydney Airport has been described as the "tip of the iceberg" for the surrounding area, sparking calls for changes to ensure a far greater slice of the market uplift is returned to taxpayers.
The federal government forked out almost $30 million for land owned by Tony and Ron Perich's Leppington Pastoral Company in 2018, only for the Commonwealth to value the 12 hectares at just $3 million less than a year later.
The government's overpayment has also led to warnings it risks forcing up the cost for taxpayers of future land acquisitions for road and rail projects in and around the new airport at Badgerys Creek.
Liberal MP John Alexander said the sale to the Perichs was the "tip of the iceberg" in terms of land holders making windfall gains from selling property around the airport at Badgerys Creek.
"These have been expensive lessons that we have been a bit slow to learn," he said.
Mr Alexander, who is chairing a parliamentary inquiry into ways to fund a bullet train on Australia's east coast, said it served as a cautionary reminder that mechanisms were needed before infrastructure was announced so that taxpayers gained from the value uplift.
And he warned that, if so-called value-capture mechanisms – such as a levy on gains – were not instituted, the number of billionaires created was likely to increase as large land holders benefited from governments boosting spending on infrastructure to stimulate the economy in coming years.
"The number of billionaires that will be created will be embarrassing," he said.
Auditor-General Grant Hehir released on Monday a damning report into the federal Department of Infrastructure's handling of the purchase of the Perichs' land in 2018. He found that aspects of the agency's operations "fell short of ethical standards".
The Commonwealth ended up paying 22 times more per hectare than what the NSW government shelled out for another 1.36-hectare slice of the Perichs' dairy farming property at Bringelly for a road.
Labor's roads spokesman John Graham said his main concern was that the purchase would lead to an escalation in the cost of acquiring land for major transport projects and potentially delay them. "One ill-advised purchase could have ripple effects throughout the western Sydney basin around the airport and that could have implications for infrastructure," he said.
The estimated cost of the M12 motorway to the new airport has already risen by more than $400 million to $1.8 billion due to an increase in land values around the area.

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro claims that US President Donald Trump's administration approved of the Central Intelligence Agency's (CIA) recent "covert and terrorist operations" against an array of targets in the country.
"They have given the CIA the green light to come with direct agents to covert and terrorist operations against oil, electricity, military, electoral targets and other dirty covert actions like those used by the CIA," he told state television in Spanish, speaking of the Trump administration.
Maduro also reiterated accusations against the US Drug Enforcement Administration, which he claims have been sent by the White House to attack Venezeula and overthrow Caracas.
"It has placed the DEA as the operator agency of the attack against Venezuela, what is new today is not that the DEA is involved with the Colombian drug trafficking group to attack Venezuela, the new thing is that they have approved that the CIA get involved in operations terrorist attacks against Venezuela," he stated.

MINSK, 19 June (BelTA) – Additional conditions which do not apply to the financial part are unacceptable for Belarus, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said when speaking about external lending during a meeting to discuss support measures for the real economic sector on the part of the banking system, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko asked the participants of the meeting how things were with the provision of foreign credit assistance to Belarus. “What are our partners' requirements? It was announced that they can provide Belarus with $940 million in so-called rapid financing. How are things here?” the head of state inquired.
At the same time, he stressed that additional conditions which do not apply to the financial part are unacceptable for the country. “We hear the demands, for example, to model our coronavirus response on that of Italy. I do not want to see the Italian situation to repeat in Belarus. We have our own country and our own situation,” the president said.
According to the president, the World Bank has showed interest in Belarus' coronavirus response practices. “It is ready to fund us ten times more than it offered initially as a token of commendation for our efficient fight against this virus. The World Bank has even asked the Healthcare Ministry to share the experience. Meanwhile, the IMF continues to demand from us quarantine measures, isolation, a curfew. This is nonsense.
