Election Watchdog Finds 350,000 Dead Registrants on Voter Rolls In 42 States

An election watchdog has found that there may be as many as 350,000 dead individuals on voter rolls across 42 states.

The Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF), an Indiana-based election integrity group, conducted a nationwide study to identify the hundreds of thousands of deceased individuals on voter rolls. During its analysis, the group also found that nearly 40,000 likely duplicate registrants "appear to have cast second votes in 2018 from the same address."

Just five states—New York, Texas, Michigan, Florida, and California—accounted for 51 percent of the total number of deceased individuals on voter rolls, according to the group. PILF further found that nearly 15,000 registrants were credited with voting after death in the 2016 and 2018 elections.

"Our voter rolls have not, and will not be ready for a mail-focused election this November," said Logan Churchwell, communications director for PILF. "State court decisions in swing states allowing for relaxed deadlines, signature verification, and harvesting now sit on a foundation of bad voter data."

"In Pennsylvania, your mis-delivered ballot to the hands of a bad actor will now have extra time to get turned in and not face the traditional standards for signature verification," Churchwell said. "The only way to absolutely avoid this nightmare is to vote in person."

The analysis comes as states across the country prepare to handle a surge of mail-in voting for the November elections. Numerous problems plagued mail-in voting during the primary elections this year. Nevada's largest county sent out more than 200,000 mail-in primary ballots to the wrong addresses, while reports also indicated that 84,000 mail-in presidential primary ballots cast in New York City were disqualified.

The push for mail-in voting has led to a massive influx of cash from wealthy donors. More than $100 million has been poured into efforts both supporting and opposing the practice.

A network of liberal groups, including George Soros's Open Society Foundations and the Ford Foundation, has donated more than $50 million in support of mail-in voting. These efforts have primarily been geared toward battleground states including Michigan, North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, and Arizona, NBC News previously reported.

"The pandemic has created a state of emergency," Laleh Ispahani, managing director for the Open Society Foundations, told the Associated Press. "Donors who haven’t typically taken on these issues now have an interest."

China is Spying on Millions of People. And They Aren’t in China

After years of constant media fear-mongering, a sizeable number of Americans continue to believe in the disproven “Russiagate” conspiracy theory.

Putin, the story goes, owns Donald Trump and engaged in a massive propaganda campaign via social media, hacking elections, and other collusion forms to ensure that Trump was elected. Now, Putin sits like Cobra Commander in the Kremlin, directed Trump’s actions, and Trump does what he is told.

Yet these same Americans harbor little fear of China, the nation to which America’s economy was sold decades ago (and the one who threatened to withhold all medical exports during a pandemic) and the only real aggressive empire (though admittedly the Russian bear is beginning to wake up) outside of the United States.

Despite China’s imperial ambitions, leftists all across the United States reacted in outrage and mockery when Donald Trump announced plans to ban TikTok, the Chinese owned social media firm. According to them, the idea that China may be using TikTok for nefarious purposes is beyond the scope of reality. It is yet one more conspiracy theory conjured up by Trump and Qanoons.

Trump might not be so wrong after all.

In a new report from VICE (not a Trump or Q sympathizer by any means) “China has Been Doing ‘Mass Surveillance’ on Millions of Citizens in the US, UK, Australia, and India,” Gavin Butler writes:

A Chinese technology company with links to Beijing’s military and intelligence agencies has been compiling personal information on millions of people from the US, UK, Australia, Canada, India, and Japan.

The database was put together by the private firm Zhenhua Data: a Shenzhen-based company that lists the People’s Liberation Army and Chinese Communist Party among its main clients.

Contained therein were the names and personal details of some 2.4 million people, including 35,000 Australians, 40,000 Britons, and many high-profile figures such as senior politicians, royal family members, religious leaders, and military officers.

Those details included dates of birth, addresses, marital status, relatives, political associations, and social media IDs. While a lot of data has been “scraped” from social media and other open-source material, some appears to have been sourced from confidential bank records, job applications, and psychological profiles and is believed to have been acquired via the dark web.

According to the ABC, one intelligence analyst described the giant global database as “Cambridge Analytica on steroids,” At the same time, the Telegraph reported that intelligence sources described the scale of information as “frightening.” Both publications were among the international consortium of media outlets that the database was shared with, including others in Australia, the UK, the US, Canada, Italy, and Germany.

Professor Christopher Balding, the US academic and cybersecurity expert to whom the database was initially leaked, described the revelation as “something akin to discovering the Holy Grail.

“What cannot be underestimated is the breadth and depth of the Chinese surveillance state and its extension around the world,” Balding wrote in a statement on Monday. “The world is only at the beginning stages of [understanding] how much China invests in intelligence and influence operations using the type of raw data we have to understand their targets.”

The intended use of the information contained in the database is not entirely clear. Still, Zhenhua Data—whose official website has since been taken down—claims it provides “services for military, security and foreign propaganda” and describes its mission as influencing the “great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.”

The company’s chief executive Wang Xuefeng has also previously used the Chinese social media app WeChat to endorse waging “hybrid warfare.” A term that refers to unconventional methods such as cyber attacks, fake news, and electoral intervention to disrupt and disable an opponent without engaging in open hostilities.

New Jersey Dem Under Fire for Lobbying Against Sex Offender Registry

Rep. Malinowski backpedals from work with Human Rights Watch in debate

New Jersey congressman Tom Malinowski (D.), who is locked in a close reelection battle, is under fire for his role lobbying against the creation of a sex offender registry.

The fresh scrutiny comes in the wake of a Washington Free Beacon report last month detailing Malinowski's role as the top lobbyist for Human Rights Watch when the organization opposed the 2006 Omnibus Crime Bill that enhanced the national sex offender registry originally created in 1994.

After a television advertisement seized on his role lobbying against the bill, and his Republican opponent, Tom Kean, Jr., raised the issue in a debate, the Democrat has worked to distance himself from the group's role, arguing in a recent debate that his name was listed on lobbying disclosure reports as a formality. "We submitted lobbying reports that listed everybody in the organization who lobbied on any issue," he said.

Malinowski, who was Washington director of Human Rights Watch at the time and, according to his biography, the group's "chief advocate," now says he played no role in lobbying against the bill. He did not respond to a request for comment about whether he stands by the organization's position on the legislation.

Russian Tech Company To Buy Digital Bank For $5.5 Billion

Russian tech giant Yandex is set to buy digital bank Tinkoff in a $5.5 billion agreement, the two companies announced Tuesday.

“The parties have come to an agreement in principle on a transaction that would consist of cash and share consideration worth approximately $5.48 billion or $27.64 per Tinkoff share,” Yandex said in a press release.

Yandex, founded in 1997, is best known for its search engine. The company primarily services Eastern European countries and has been compared to Google, one of its main competitors.

Tinkoff is the largest independent digital bank in the world by the number of customers, and the second-largest issuer of credit cards in Russia. Tinkoff operates completely online and has no physical branches. The company developed Russia’s first digital atm.

Tinkoff was founded in 2006 by entrepreneur Oleg Tinkov, one of Russia's wealthiest businessmen.

Tinkov, 52, confirmed reports in March that he is battling leukemia. He is currently in the U.K., where he is awaiting an extradition court’s ruling on U.S. tax evasion charges. If the court decides to send him to the U.S., he could face up to six years in prison.

Activist Nelson Peltz' Hedge Fund Trian Buys Stake In ‘Undervalued’ Comcast

Trian has increased its total holdings in Comcast to about 20 million shares.

Trian’s holding amounts to a 0.4% stake valued at about $870 million

Trian manages about $8.8 billion in assets

Trian Fund Management LP, led by billionaire activist investor Nelson Peltz, has acquired a stake in cable giant Comcast Corp. (CMCSA).

Trian said on Monday that it had purchased 7.2 million Comcast shares through June 30, The Wall Street Journal reported. Since then, Trian has increased its total holdings in Comcast to about 20 million shares.

Trian’s holding amounts to a 0.4% stake valued at about $870 million.

“Trian believes Comcast’s stock is undervalued,” Trian said in a statement. “We have recently begun what we believe are constructive discussions with Comcast’s management team and look forward to continuing those discussions.”

Year-to-date, Comcast shares have been about flat, slightly underperforming the S&P 500 index over that period.

The Journal commented that Trian is known for “encouraging changes at companies it targets, such as a breakup or sale of underperforming divisions or moves to improve efficiency and better use capital. It often seeks board representation and tries to avoid public spats, unlike some of its more pugnacious rivals.”

Trian, which manages about $8.8 billion in assets, has a portfolio of companies including such prominent names as Tiffany (TIF), PepsiCo Inc. (PEP), Procter & Gamble (PG) and General Electric (GE).

However, Comcast may be difficult for Trian to influence as Brian Roberts, its chairman and chief executive officer, controls about one-third of the stock’s voting rights.

Comcast’s broadband internet unit has remained a strong business, but its media divisions, including NBCUniversal and the U.K.-based Sky, have suffered from declines in advertisement and other woes.

Comcast had faced criticism for overpaying for Sky to the tune of almost $39 billion two years ago. Comcast had earlier lost a bid to acquire Fox’s entertainment assets – that deal went to Walt Disney Co. (DIS).

LA County Rushes to Slap Hefty Fines on John MacArthur for Going to Church Amid Lockdown

Los Angeles County has expressed its intention to haul Grace Community Church (GCC) Pastor John MacArthur back into court, attempting to secure a contempt ruling against him, which would involve hefty fines. On Monday, an LA superior court judge punted on contempt, but the county told MacArthur’s lawyers that it intends to refile charges in another court. Earlier this month, Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff issued a preliminary injunction allowing LA County to ban indoor church services, but the church has appealed the injunction.

MacArthur’s lawyers argue that since they are challenging the preliminary injunction, any contempt proceedings should wait until the underlying constitutionality of the county’s coronavirus lockdown orders has been fully litigated. Yet Los Angeles has refused to wait, instead rushing to use a constitutionally dubious order as a cudgel against Christians who insist on going to church.

Jenna Ellis, President Donald Trump’s personal attorney and an attorney for MacArthur, told PJ Media that she will continue to fight on behalf of MacArthur and the church.

“Pastor MacArthur has remained firm in his conviction and constitutionally protected right that church is essential. We look forward to continuing our advocacy on behalf of Grace Community Church and religious freedom,” Ellis said.

The religious freedom battle

MacArthur and his church had challenged lockdown orders from Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.) and LA County while continuing to meet in person. LA County had tried — no fewer than four times — to convince judges to issue restraining orders preventing the church from gathering in person.

Rather than enforcing the existing health order, which imposes a fine of $1,000 and jail time, the county has sought court orders, ostensibly to shift blame to the court but also to penalize the church further. The county has asked a judge to find MacArthur and his church in contempt of court, which would cost the church more than $20,000 and attorney’s fees. Courts repeatedly rejected these shenanigans until the preliminary injunction on September 10.

Gov. Newsom has reportedly threatened to cut off power to any church that continues to meet in-person. Yet he is facing a large movement of civil disobedience. A network of California churches sued him last month and many churches throughout the state have vowed to hold in-person worship services despite the state ban on gatherings.

In an ultimate sign of pettiness, LA County canceled the church’s lease to its parking lot.

Charles LiMandri, one of MacArthur’s lawyers, noted that California “has given free rein to protestors, and is not similarly restricting marijuana dispensaries, large retail outlets and factories, and abortion providers.”

“Nothing about this is truly about health. It’s an unconstitutional power grab,” Ellis told PJ Media earlier this month.

When Beckloff issued the injunction earlier this month, Ellis condemned the county’s arguments as tyrannical.

“Church is essential, and no government agent has the runaway, unlimited power to force churches to close indefinitely. The County’s argument was basically ‘because we can,’ which is the very definition of tyranny,” she said. “Without limiting government’s power in favor of freedom and protected rights, we have no liberty. We will fight for religious freedom, as our founders did when they wrote the First Amendment.”

This legal battle is far from over.

Feds Seize $196K in Cash at Border Crossing from Texas to Mexico

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Eagle Pass, Texas, seized nearly $200,000 in unreported currency being smuggled into Mexico. This adds to the increasing amount of cash being seized at ports of entry.

CBP officers assigned to the Eagle Pass Port of Entry on September 17 observed a commercial bus approaching in the exit lane headed to Mexico. Officers referred the driver to a secondary inspection station, according to information obtained from CBP officials in South Texas.

Officers initially carried out a non-intrusive imaging system inspection and noticed anomalies in a duffel bag. They carried out a physical search of the luggage area of the 2016 Scania commercial bus. Officers searched a duffle bag and found 11 packages containing undeclared U.S. currency.

The officers counted the money and declared a total of $196,925 in U.S. currency.

Officers seized the currency.

“This seizure is a prime example of the continued dedication of our frontline officers to uphold our border security mission,” said Port Director Paul Del Rincon, Eagle Pass Port of Entry.

CBP officers working ports of entry around the country seized $93,302,645 in unreported currency during the first 11 months of Fiscal Year 2020, Breitbart Texas’ Jaeson Jones reported. This is up substantially from the totals of each of the previous five years.

During FY 2019, which ended on September 30, 2019, CBP officers seized $68,879,080 in U.S. currency. The FY 2020 seizures represent an increase of 35 percent.

In addition to the record quantities of seized currency, CBP officials in North Dakota recently seized $36,000 in fake U.S. currency, Breitbart Texas reported. Officers found the counterfeit currency inside a commercial tractor-trailer attempting to enter the U.S. from Canada.

Fuck Esper

Pentagon head tells Gantz US will protect Israeli edge, as F-35 sale zooms ahead

Mark Esper tells defense minister, on visit to Washington, that maintaining Israeli military superiority in region a ‘cornerstone’ of defense relationship

The top US defense official told his Israeli counterpart that Washington was committed to maintaining Israel’s military edge in the region Tuesday, as the sides sought ways to defray Jerusalem’s worries over the sale of F-35 fighter jets to the United Arab Emirates.

Defense Minister Benny Gantz met with Pentagon chief Mark Esper and other senior US officials during a visit to Washington, a week after Israel normalized relations with the UAE and Bahrain at a White House ceremony. The Emirates has expressed hopes that the normalization agreement will make it easier to push through the sale of the advanced planes, which could impinge on Israel’s military edge in the region.

“The defense relationship between the United States and Israel has never been stronger: We intend to keep it that way,” Esper told Gantz, according to the Pentagon.

He added that “a cornerstone of our defense relationship is preserving Israel’s qualitative military edge in the region.”

“We will continue to support the long-standing US priority to maintain Israel’s security,” he said.

Gantz and Esper “discussed the importance of ensuring Israel’s military edge and the avenues to maintain it and reviewed additional regional opportunities and potential defense collaborations,” the Israeli Defense Ministry said in a statement.

According to a Reuters report Tuesday, the US is hoping to ink a deal to sell the stealth fighters to the UAE by December, but is also looking for ways to assuage Israel’s concerns that its security could be jeopardized by the sale of the advanced jets.

Gantz also discussed the sale of the planes with senior presidential adviser Jared Kushner, a key architect of the normalization deals with the UAE and Bahrain.

Gantz and Kushner discussed “furthering additional accords as an instrument for ensuring regional stability and protecting Israel’s security, while maintaining Israel’s qualitative edge throughout the process,” the Defense Ministry said in a statement.

There was no comment on the meeting from the White House.

Congressional rules require any US arms sale in the Middle East to be vetted against the rubric of maintaining Israel’s qualitative military edge in the region. Gantz has previously expressed opposition to the sale of the F-35s to the UAE, though he has also said that the choice is up to the US.

House passes bill to avert shutdown

House passes bill to avert shutdown

© Greg Nash

The House passed legislation on Tuesday night to avert a government shutdown through Dec. 11, sending the bill to the Senate with just eight days left before current federal funding expires.

Lawmakers passed the bill in a bipartisan vote of 359-57 after Democrats earlier Tuesday rekindled negotiations with Republicans that had temporarily stalled due to a dispute over farm aid. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) voted "present."

The government would shut down on Oct. 1 if Congress doesn’t pass a spending bill in time, a scenario that both parties want to avoid mere weeks before Election Day and amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The stopgap spending bill will now set up a clash over government funding in the lame-duck session after the November elections.

House Democrats initially introduced their own stopgap measure on Monday that did not include a provision sought by the Trump administration to ensure that farmer assistance payments continue flowing through the Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC), which has a borrowing limit of $30 billion.

Democrats planned to hold a vote on their bill Tuesday afternoon, setting up a potential ping-pong scenario between the two chambers with time running out before current funding expires.

But talks between Democrats and Republicans resumed on Tuesday to resolve differences on the farm aid, as well as an expiring program created by a coronavirus relief measure earlier this year to ensure that children who normally receive free or reduced-cost meals at schools still have access while they are closed for in-person instruction due to the pandemic.

The agreement struck between the two parties adds $8 billion in nutrition assistance programs and allows for the farm aid distributed through the CCC to continue, but with measures sought by Democrats to prohibit payments to fossil fuel refiners and importers.

It expands the expiring program providing low-income children with meals to include child care centers impacted by pandemic-related closures and gives states continued flexibility for food stamp requirements for another year.

The Senate is likely to take up the bill as soon as this week.
