Yesterday, Maria Bartiromo, on FOX Business with Mornings with Maria had former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani on to discuss New York City, the Bidens and Burisma.

The current situation in New York City is a mess under Mayor De Blasio and New York Governor Cuomo. Rudy discussed how these guys should be culpable for the deaths of thousands of New Yorkers due to their actions with the coronavirus. Rudy mentioned that he used the government’s medical facility on the water during 9-11 but De Blasio and Cuomo did not. They sent sick people into old folks homes which led to the deaths of thousands.

Rudy then turned to the corrupt Biden machine (at the 7:48 mark in the video below – emphasis added):

China owns Joe Biden. They’ve owned him since his son went there and started making millions and Joe took him on Airforce Two there. They own, why do you think Joe says, he’s like, ‘China’s no competition’?

I mean that, he’s said many ignorant things but he can’t be that demented and that stupid to say that. There is nobody in the world that agrees with that.

Next they discussed the Ukrainian company where Hunter Biden was on the Board and Rudy shared this:

What you’re going to learn is there was no way that Kolomoisky the crooked oligarch, who paid the Biden family somewhere between $8 and $14 million was paying for a drug addict which is what this guy has been. This guy [Hunter Biden]can’t function. I don’t think he ever showed up in Ukraine. It was a no show job. So what was the no show job for? Joe’s influence. He was the most influential man in Ukraine. He was put there by Obama. He was giving out all the money. Kolomoisky needed him in order to save his company and then Biden went ahead and did it and he bribed Poroshenko.

It’s on tape. There are five witnesses and there are four recordings of conversations just at the time the firing took place that have not been released. Four recordings that amount to about two and a half hours of conversations between Biden and Poroshenko. They are all in February of 2016. Those should be released by President Trump. President Trump should declassify them and put them out. I will bet you a dinner he goes under if they come out.

‘Wired to make money’: Barclays’ private bankers serve ultra-rich, as watchdogs sound alarms

The FinCEN Files investigation exposes tensions between British bank’s New York and London operations.

Ivor Ichikowitz recoils at the arms industry’s “reputation for being very cloak-and-dagger.”

“We are not in the destroying-anything business,” the 53-year-old founder of South African arms company Paramount Group told CNBC a few years ago. “We’re in the protecting business.”

His bankers at Barclays, the global financial group based in the United Kingdom, have been happy to have his business, profitably moving hundreds of millions for Ichikowitz and his companies.

But in recent years in-house watchdogs at Barclays have sounded alarms about corruption allegations involving Ichikowitz, raising questions about whether he engaged in the kind of secretive maneuvers he bristled about in public. They flagged more than $430 million in transactions, which moved through the bank for more than five years beginning in August 2011 as suspect, according to closely guarded suspicious activity reports, known as SARs, that were obtained by BuzzFeed News and reviewed by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists.

After firing off several warnings to the U.S. Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, known as FinCEN, Barclays hired an outside private intelligence firm co-headed by former British spy Christopher Steele to dig deeper. The resulting brief raised even more red flags, citing sources who said Ichikowitz had parlayed political donations into military contracts in South Africa, according to a report Barclays sent to FinCEN.

Banks are required to exercise greater care when serving politically-connected clients who are viewed as more vulnerable to bribery or corruption because of their senior positions, the countries they reside in or their industries. Sometimes, banks flag their money movements, not necessarily because the transactions are suspicious, but rather because of general concerns about clients and their businesses.

Barclays in New York “remains concerned with Ichikowitz and his companies’ source of wealth and Ichikowitz’s possible involvement in bribery and corruption,” compliance officers wrote in the December 2017 SAR.

The documents, part of a larger leak known as the FinCEN Files, offer an unparalleled view into how controls within large global banks intended to keep tainted money from moving around the globe collide with their overriding imperative to churn out bigger and bigger profits. The reports also point to a regulatory regime unequal to the task of policing banks’ profit-driven movement of illicit cash.

Trump implements new travel restrictions to Cuba, bans purchase of rum and tobacco

'Today, we proclaim that America will never be a socialist country,' Trump said

President Trump announced new restrictions for American travelers going to Cuba, barring them from purchasing rum and tobacco or staying in Cuban government-funded hotels.

The Treasury Department announced regulatory changes under the new rules that restrict importing Cuba-origin alcohol and tobacco products and prevent travelers from attending or organizing certain professional meetings or conferences in Cuba, as well as public performances, clinics, workshops, competitions, and other exhibitions in the country.

Trump also applied new sanctions against Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua as part of an ongoing crackdown against communism.

The announcement was made during the president's address honoring Bay of Pigs veterans who survived a failed attempt nearly 60 years ago to topple the communist government of the late Fidel Castro in Cuba.

The Bay of Pigs Veterans Association endorsed Trump's presidency in 2016 and Trump thanked the group for officially endorsing him again for his bid of a second term in office.

"The Obama-Biden administration made a weak, pathetic, one-sided deal with the Castro dictatorship that betrayed the Cuban people and enriched the communist regime. I canceled the Obama-Biden sellout to the Castro regime," Trump said during Wednesday's remarks from the White House's East Room.

In 2017, Trump abandoned attempts at diplomacy with Cuba brokered under former President Barack Obama and reimposed economic sanctions on the island nation, as well as travel restrictions that had been relaxed under the previous administration.

Trump's newest sanctions threaten to further cripple Cuba's tourism industry already caving in the wake of the global coronavirus pandemic. Cuba's government owns all of the hotels on the island.

"The Cuban government’s profits from properties in the hospitality industry owned or controlled by the Cuban government, senior regime officials, Cuban Communist Party leadership, and their families, disproportionately benefit the Cuban government, all at the expense of the Cuban people, who continue to face repression at the hands of the regime," a State Department spokesperson said in a statement.

Democratic presidential rival Vice President Joe Biden has said he would consider reversing course if he becomes president and reattempting diplomatic advancements with current Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel.

“This is a desperate and hypocritical attempt by Trump to pander to Cuban-American voters in Florida. American citizens are already banned from traveling to Cuba because of the coronavirus, and Trump has privately sought to do business with the country for years and ignored the embargo," DNC spokesperson Enrique Gutierrez said in a statement to Fox News.

"He’s filed trademarks with the Cuban government to make money on golf courses, hotels, and more — but now that he’s lagging in the polls, he’s just using our foreign policy for his own political gain,” Gutierrez said.

During his brief remarks that also touched on honoring Hispanic Heritage Month, Trump alluded to parallels between ongoing Black Lives Matter and social justice protests in the U.S. and communist tyranny in Cuba.

"The courageous veterans here today bear witness to how socialism, radical mobs, and violent communists, ruin a nation. Now, the Democrat Party is unleashing socialist mobs on America," Trump said. "Today, we proclaim that America will never be a socialist country."

The president lambasted the media, saying they are "being used like fools" and proclaimed "we didn't fight tyranny abroad only to let Marxists destroy our country."

The Democrats have been aided by Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic authorities who sold out to secularism.

This has been said countless times, and it still is amazing that any Christian – any at all – would even give the time of day to voting for a Democrat. Now, given, many Democrats are themselves Christian believers. While this takes a bit of mental sophistry to justify, these Democrats have at least been able up till now to defend their stance, saying that their Party has many anti-Christians in it, but that is not to say that the Party itself is aligned against Christ and his teachings (that is what Christianity really is, isn’t it?)

A report from Laura Ingraham of Fox News notes that the Democrats no longer demonstrate being the “party of John F. Kennedy (a Roman Catholic)” because in the upcoming Supreme Court fight, their first targeted theme for one of the leading possible nominees is in fact a Roman Catholic herself.

And a mom.

And not a feminist.

The Democrat Party likes to cast itself as “the party of women.” But this is not true. Amy Coney Barrett is a woman. And she is a Roman Catholic Christian.

But wait!!! we hear some Democrats say. Joe Biden is a Roman Catholic too! All his life!

Well, no. He really isn’t. He is a member of the Roman Catholic Church; true. But like many Catholics, particularly Democrat ones in the United States, the Church herself is not to be taken seriously. Nancy Pelosi is a member of the Roman Catholic Church too, but she is so radically pro-abortion that the Church ought not be communing her. Same with Biden. They may be members of the Church, but what they live is anathema to the teachings of ancient Christianity. Christian-in-name-only.

In a memorable moment from Barrett’s appeals court confirmation hearing in 2017, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., told the prospective judge that “when you read your speeches, the conclusion one draws is that the dogma lives loudly within you.

“And that’s of concern,” Feinstein added, “when you come to big issues that large numbers of people have thought for, for years in this country.”

At the same hearing, Sen. Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, stated that an article written by Barrett was “very plain in your perspective about the role of religion for judges — in particular with regard to Catholic judges,” while Dick Durbin, D-Ill., asked Barrett if she was “an Orthodox Catholic.”

“Do they even know the history of their own party?” asked Ingraham, who recalled that just 60 years ago, Democrat John F. Kennedy was elected president — becoming the first and, to date, only Roman Catholic to hold that office.

“I fully expect the upcoming confirmation hearing will showcase Democrats’ supreme desire to excommunicate the faithful from serving in any prominent capacity in government,” Ingraham concluded. “Their actions will once again demonstrate how fundamentally they misconstrue the Constitution, their proper advise and consent role and the function of nine justices who sit on the court itself.”

This is absolutely Anti-Christian. Feinstein relates that Amy Barrett’s religious adherence is a problem. Her obedience to God and His Law is a problem for Democrats in general.

Scumbag Special Prosecutor Who Brought Charges Against Omaha Bar Owner Who Killed Rioter, Then Committed Suicide, Gives Press Conference — Blames Him for Being a Trump Supporter

Special Prosecutor Fredrick D. Franklin gave a press conference on Wednesday discussing the case he brought against Omaha bar owner Jake Gardner — and essentially used his support for President Donald Trump to justify the political persecution against him.

Gardner killed himself over the weekend, after being hit with multiple charges for killing a rioter that was attacking him and his bar.

Franklin explained that the day before the shooting, President Trump tweeted “when the looting starts, the shooting starts,” and said that it was significant that Gardner’s “affinity for the president” was well-known.

Franklin said text messages to and from Gardner make references to looters and “how they could be dealt with.” Apparently, talking about defending yourself means that when rioters come smash windows at your business, you cannot defend yourself.

Franklin also stated Gardner was “philosophically opposed” to the reason for the protest, which also, apparently, negates his right to defend himself. He admitted that the rioters were smashing windows and vandalizing the bar, but downplayed it.

“Jake and others sat inside the Hive, with the lights off, and vandals and people engaged in destroying did just that,” he said. “But one thing they did not do…there was not a single attempt to go inside the property.”

He claimed that by being at his business, with the lights off, “Jake Gardner had set up an ambush inside his business, waiting on a looter to come in so he could ‘light him up.'”

Garner was a Marine and veteran of deployments to Iraq and Haiti. He described himself as a libertarian, but voted for President Donald Trump in 2016 and volunteered for his campaign in three states. By all accounts of friends and acquaintances that the Gateway Pundit has spoke to, he was a nice guy who cared very deeply about the world around him.

On May 30, the 38-year-old veteran confronted a group of rioters outside one of the bars he owned in Omaha because one of them had just shoved his 70-year-old father. He was knocked to the ground. “From there, he fired two warning shots and tried to get to his feet, prosecutors said. As he did, Gardner got into a fight with one man, James Scurlock, 22. The two scuffled before Gardner fired a shot that killed him,” Yahoo News reported.

The incident prompted a wave of further “protests,” particularly after Donald Kleine, the Douglas County attorney, determined that Gardner had acted in self-defense and declined to bring charges. Protesters even repeatedly showed up to his home, demanding that he file charges, despite the overwhelming evidence that Gardner had acted appropriately and in self-defense.

“You have these leftists urging people to vote by mail, knowing that their votes are going to be lost. I think that’s awful,” Fitton stated in last week’s Weekly Update.

Addressing voters across the country, Fitton dedicated part of last week’s Weekly Update to the risks of mail-in-voting. With millions of Americans gearing up to cast their votes by mail this year, Fitton warned voters that “potentially millions of ballots could be thrown out on election day.” As Fitton explains, an estimated 550,000 ballots were thrown out in this year’s primary elections alone, over 200,000 more than those thrown out in the 2016 general election. “Imagine a similar number of ballots in November.”

Fitton also encouraged viewers to challenge state rulings which “undermine the security of our elections,” such as the weakening of voter-ID requirements, or in in the case of Pennsylvania “a state supreme court ruling that changed the ballot deadline from election day to 3 days after election day.” As Fitton explained, the ruling requires with no verification of the ballot mail-in-date by post-mark, meaning “there’s really no way to effectively challenge those ballots.”

“We’re facing a big crisis, on election integrity we [Judicial Watch] have been basically alone,” Fitton stated. Fighting to scrub an estimated 2.5 million extra names from voter rolls across the country, and push states to strengthen voter-ID requirements, Judicial Watch is leading the way to stop the Left from “eliminating voter ID… and swamping the mail with ballots from lists they know are dirty.”

Furthermore, “I’m concerned about violence on election day,” Fitton explains. “ANTIFA and the violent left, even the New York Times talk about violence, damage and revolution if President Trump is seen as having won.” As it stands, uncertainty will breed chaos this November, in Fitton’s words. The Transition Integrity Project’s wargaming appears to have led Democrats to suggest the Joint Chiefs of Staff “need to forcibly remove the president if there’s an election dispute.” Zuckerberg, the founder and owner of Facebook seems to have suggested that “it’s perfectly reasonable if we don’t know who won for week and weeks.”

As Fitton rebuts, “it isn’t reasonable. They’re sending ballots to people who aren’t there. They don’t have security measures in place to make sure that those who vote are eligible to vote.”

“I want a system in place that’s fair and I want there to be reasonable checks to make sure that voter fraud is not countenanced or encouraged,” Fitton concluded.

LeBron James has 'zero comment' on L.A. sheriff's challenge to double reward in deputies shooting

James is the NBA's highest-paid player and worth an estimated $450 million

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James says he has "zero comment" in response to the county sheriff asking him to double the six-figure reward for information leading to the arrest of the person who recently shot two sheriff deputies in Compton, California.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva last week specifically named James in a radio interview, asking the NBA player to match the reward fund, now at $175,000.

"This challenge is to LeBron James," Villanueva said. "I want you to match that and double that reward because I know you care about law enforcement. You expressed a very interesting statement on race relations and officer-involved shootings and the impact it has on the African American community. And I appreciate that."

James said in response Sunday on the Spectrum SportsNet: "I have zero comment on the sheriff."

Forbes magazine reported last year that James is the high-paid NBA player with a total $87 million in salary and endorsement money. In 2018, James signed a four-year, $153 million contact with the Lakers and is worth an estimated $450 million.

On September 12, an unknown person fired several shots into the passenger-side window of a law enforcement vehicle, striking a 31-year-old sheriff's deputy in the jaw and arm, and a 24-year-old deputy in the forehead and arm.

The deputies survived the shooting and have since been released from the hospital.

However, James also said: "We don't want anyone to be hurt. My condolences go out to the officers that were shot in Los Angeles. And we want justice for that … "I'm not saying that all cops are bad … But when you see the videos that's going on and you can see all over the – not only my hometown but all over America – you continue to see the acts of violence toward my kind, I can't do nothing but to speak about it and see the common denominator."

Lisa Murkowski Reverses Position on Filling SCOTUS Vacancy, Won't Rule Out Vote to Confirm

Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) made a stunning reversal of her position on filling the vacancy left by Ruth Bader Ginsburg. According to a report from Alaska Public Media, Murkowski now won’t rule out voting to confirm a nominee before the election.

“I know everybody wants to ask the question, ‘will you confirm the nominee?’” she said. “We don’t have a nominee yet. You and I don’t know who that is. And so I can’t confirm whether or not I can confirm a nominee when I don’t know who the nominee is.”

Murkowski was the second Republican to come out in opposition to filling the seat. “For weeks, I have stated that I would not support taking up a potential Supreme Court vacancy this close to the election. Sadly, what was then a hypothetical is now our reality, but my position has not changed,” she said in a statement on Sunday. “I did not support taking up a nomination eight months before the 2016 election to fill the vacancy created by the passing of Justice Scalia.”

“We are now even closer to the 2020 election – less than two months out – and I believe the same standard must apply,” she added.

Senator Mitt Romney surprised many of us when he said he’d not block the nomination. With Murkowski on board now, Mitch McConnell has even more wiggle room to get Trump’s nominee confirmed.

President Trump is expected to announce his nominee on Saturday.

Brexit News: JPMorgan Shifting London Assets To Frankfurt, British Expats Losing UK Bank Accounts

The move to Frankfurt will make JPMorgan the sixth biggest bank in Germany based on assets

U.K.-based companies fear they will lose their passporting rights if the U.K. and EU fail to secure a new trade deal

Britons who live on the continent will their U.K. bank accounts closed by the end of the year

U.S.-based megabank JPMorgan Chase (JPM) plans to relocate some 200 billion euros ($234 billion) of its assets in the U.K. to Germany ahead of Britain’s final departure from the European Union.

The move to Frankfurt – which will make JPMorgan the sixth biggest bank in Germany based on assets – is expected to be completed by the end of the year, Bloomberg reported.

The assets that will be moved account for a little less than 10% of JPMorgan’s total balance sheet. The figure also comprises nearly one-half of the total assets held by German branches of foreign banks as of the end of June.

Bloomberg explained that as the Brexit transition period will expire in less than four months, international banks have been upgrading their European banking businesses – partly over fears that U.K.-based companies (like JPMorgan’s London operations) will lose their passporting rights if the U.K. and EU fail to secure a new trade deal.

(“Passporting rights” are rights that permit banks to operate their business in any EU country, without needing further authorization from each EU member.)

Last week, JPMorgan moved about 200 of its London staff members to offices in Paris, Frankfurt, Milan, and Madrid.

Beyond the Brexit-related moves, JPMorgan wants its German subsidiary to establish strong presences in investment banking, corporate banking, and wealth management.

The bank’s Frankfurt subsidiary, known as J.P. Morgan AG, also wants to more than triple its core equity to 16.7 billion euros ($19.5 billion) by the end of this year

Other major banks including UBS (UBS), Standard Chartered. and Citigroup (C) have already beefed up their operations in Frankfurt ahead of Brexit.

Last year, the consultancy group EY said nearly $1 trillion in assets were being moved from Britain to financial hubs in the EU ahead of Brexit.

Justice Department Wants Internet Firms To Better Monitor, Manage Illicit Content, Or Lose Immunity

Facebook, Google, and Twitter would then be held more responsible for content on their sites

DOJ said tech has advanced dramatically since 1996 when laws were passed concerning controversial internet content

Tech firms operating landscape is changing around the globe

The U.S. Justice Department will propose to Congress on Wednesday that it limit legal protections afforded to internet companies over content on their platforms that could be considered harmful or illicit.

Big names like Facebook (FB), Google parent Alphabet (GOOG) and Twitter (TWTR) would then be held more responsible for content on their sites, the Wall Street Journal reported.

In June of this year, the Trump Administration and DOJ spelled out some policy proposals designed to compel internet firms to better monitor and manage illicit content.

Referring to Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act of 1996 – which provides immunity to online platforms from civil liability based on third-party content and for the removal of content in certain circumstances – the DOJ said that Congress originally enacted the statute to “nurture a nascent industry while also incentivizing online platforms to remove content harmful to children.”

However, as technology has rapidly advanced since 1996, DOJ noted, online platforms are now “both immune for a wide array of illicit activity on their services and free to moderate content with little transparency or accountability.”

As such, DOJ determined that the “time is ripe to realign the scope” of Section 230 with the “realities of the modern internet.”

“Every year, more citizens – including young children – are relying on the internet for everyday activities, while online criminal activity continues to grow,” DOJ warned. “We must ensure that the internet is both an open and safe space for our society.”

Among other things, DOJ proposed to exempt from immunity “particularly egregious content,” including child exploitation and sexual abuse, terrorism, and cyber-stalking.

Since June, the DOJ has slightly altered its policy proposals – for example, internet companies would now have immunity if they remove content that promotes violent extremism or self-harm.

The Wall Street Journal conceded that passing new legislation on social media abuses will be very difficult in a divided Congress ahead of what is expected to be a turbulent president election. Congress is already grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic, a stalled new stimulus package and a growing fight over a replacement for Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

House Passes Bill to Crack Down on Imports from China’s Forced Labor Camps

The House on Tuesday passed legislation aimed at cracking down on the exchange of goods made in forced labor camps by Uyghurs in China’s Xinjiang region.

The Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act, introduced by Rep. Jim McGovern (D-Mass.), passed in a 406-3 vote. The bill imposes a number of restrictions related to the region, including prohibiting certain imports from there and imposing sanctions on those responsible for human rights violations. In particular, goods made in Xinjiang will not be allowed entry into the United States unless U.S. customs officials can determine that the goods were not made under forced labor conditions. The bill also calls on the president to impose sanctions in the form of visa and property blocks on foreign entities or individuals who knowingly facilitated the forced labor manufacture of goods in Xinjiang or who tried to contravene U.S. laws that prohibit the import of items made under such conditions.

Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have called for action to fight human rights abuses in China.

“There is strong, diverse, bipartisan, and bicameral support for this legislation,” McGovern said on the floor ahead of the vote, adding, “it is time for Congress to act.”

He spoke of lawmakers watching “in horror” as the Chinese regime, in recent years, established and then expanded a system of mass incarceration camps, in which a series of grave abuses have taken place.

“As many as 1.8 million Uighurs and members of other predominantly Muslim ethnic minority groups have been arbitrarily detained in the camps and subjected to forced labor, torture, political intimidation, and other severe human rights abuses,” he said, adding that some of the practices the Chinese regime is allegedly engaged in, liked forced sterilization, may violate the UN Convention on Genocide.

In an interview in late August on The Epoch Times’ American Thought Leaders, Sam Brownback, the Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom, spoke of mounting evidence of the Chinese regime’s human rights abuses.

“You can look at what China did to the Tibetan Buddhists and still [does]: the persecution, keeping the Dalai Lama out of the country,” he said. “You can look at Xinjiang which is probably the most egregious religious persecution taking place in the world today. A million Muslim Uyghurs in concentration camps,” he said, adding that outside China’s harsh penal facilities, the communist regime continues its repressive tactics via an elaborate system of social control.

“And then if you get out of those, you’re in this police state of a virtual prison by all the cameras, the facial recognition systems, and the limitations on you, the destruction of the house church, the desire to control the Catholic Church, the persecution of Falun Gong, the credible reporting now of taking place of organ harvesting,” he explained.

9 Million Americans Still Have Not Received Their Stimulus Checks. What's Going on at the IRS?

A report by the Government Accountability Office says the IRS still hasn’t sent about 9 million Americans their $1200 stimulus payments because there is no updated list of individuals who are eligible but haven’t received a payment.

Congress authorized the checks in the $2 trillion pandemic relief bill passed in March. The overwhelming majority of taxpayers have already gotten their checks, but 9 million people who don’t file tax returns and don’t receive Social Security have yet to see any money.

The Hill:

“Without an updated estimate, Treasury, IRS, other federal agencies, and IRS’s outreach partners are limited in their ability to appropriately scale and target outreach and communication efforts to individuals who may be eligible for a payment,” the GAO said in a report.

So the IRS has neglected, since April, to update the list of people who haven’t gotten a check.

Treasury estimated in April that 30 million individuals who typically are not required to file a tax return are eligible for a payment, including 14 million who don’t receive certain federal benefits. The IRS has indicated that 5.3 million people have used the IRS’s web tool for non-filers to claim their payments through July 31. As a result, there could be at least 8.7 million people who are eligible for a payment but haven’t gotten one, the GAO said.

The GAO said that Treasury and the IRS haven’t updated their April estimates to account for new data. Treasury officials told the GAO that updated estimates wouldn’t provide the detailed information it needs to conduct outreach, and that the department is examining information that third parties use to notify government agencies about taxable payments in order to identify people who have yet to get their payment.

It’s nearly October and the IRS hasn’t updated the information since April? It’s very likely that those who have not received a stimulus check need it the most.

The GAO expressed concerns that the lack of an updated estimate could hinder the efforts to reach out to those who haven’t yet claimed their payments, putting those people in danger of losing out on relief.

“Representatives from two organizations that are conducting outreach on the payments said that an estimate of the number of individuals who still need the payment, particularly if matched with ZIP code data, could help them to focus outreach and communication resources,” the GAO wrote. “One IRS outreach partner also said eligible recipients who have not yet filed for the payment are outside the tax system, likely to be very low-income, and could most use the payment.”

I’m sure the pandemic had something to do with the delay, but for the IRS, it’s just another indication of the sloppiness and incompetence that costs the Treasury Department billions every year.

JPMorgan To Pay Record $1 Billion Settlement Over Precious Metals, Treasury Manipulation

Last week, we reported that as Deutsche Bank's infamous gold manipulator and spoofer - and currently star witness for the prosecution in a massive case targinet precious metal manipulation - David Liew, admitted "spoofing was so commonplace I figured it was ok." Well, it wasn't ok, but since everyone else was doing it, we can see why Liew was confused.

And speaking of everyone else also manipulating and spoofing gold, we go from Deutsche Bank straight to JPMorgan, which according to Bloomberg is set to pay a record $1 billion settlement to resolve market manipulation investigations by U.S. authorities into its trading of metals futures and Treasury securities.

A penalty approaching $1 billion would far exceed previous spoofing-related fines. It would also be on par with sanctions in many prior manipulation cases, including some brought several years ago against banks for allegedly rigging benchmark interest rates and foreign exchange markets.

The settlement amount, the highest in history of its kind, may be announced as soon as this week said anonymous Bloomberg sources. Its payment would also end probes by the DOJ, CFTC and SEC into whether traders on JPMorgan’s precious metals and treasuries desks rigged markets. Which, of course, they did. In fact, a cynical take would suggest that JPM is merely paying a kickback to the various regulators for the mistake of having been caught rigging various markets.

According to the report, it's unclear if the largest US commercial bank will face additional DOJ penalties in court:

Previous spoofing cases have been resolved without banks or trading firms pleading guilty to criminal charges. However, when prosecutors filed cases last year against individual JPMorgan traders they painted a grave picture of its precious metals desk, saying it operated as an illicit enterprise within the bank for almost a decade.

What we do know is that once JPM pays the fee - which it may well have funded from one of the numerous bank bailout schemes unleashed by the Fed in recent months - the government’s settlement with JPMorgan is not expected to result in any restrictions on its business practices.

And in what will come as a shock to many, unlike most settlements which are resolved with the guilty party neither admitting nor denying guilt, in this case it is anticipated that JPMorgan will admit to wrongdoing. Just wonderful: the bank made billions rigging rates and gold, and as punishment ends up paying a small portion of the profits and admitting what it did was wrong.

Surely that will teach it a lesson.

And just so we are clear on why Jamie Dimon is "richer than you", in 2015 JPMorgan pled guilty to massive currency manipulation, paying a $550 million fine to the Justice Department. The bank also paid penalties to U.S. regulators.

Trump Bans Gov. From Doing Business With Those Who Promote Critical Race Theory, White Privilege

Tuesday afternoon, President Donald Trump announced via Twitter that he has prohibited the United States government from conducting business with companies and individuals that promote critical race theory (CRT), claiming that the theory is “divisive and harmful.” Moreover, Trump ordered federal agencies to cease racial sensitivity training courses that discuss CRT and white privilege.

“A few weeks ago,” Trump tweeted, “I BANNED efforts to indoctrinate government employees with divisive and harmful sex and race-based ideologies.” He continues, adding that “Today, I’ve expanded that ban to people and companies that do business […] with our Country, the United States Military, Government Contractors, and Grantees. Americans should be taught to take PRIDE in our Great Country, and if you don’t, there’s nothing in it for you!”

This follows a White House memo sent on Friday to federal agencies by the director of the Office of Management and Budget, Russell Vought, instructing them to begin to cease racial sensitivity courses that discuss those subjects, referring to the programs as “un-American propaganda training sessions.”

“All agencies,” the memo reads, “are directed to begin to identify all contracts or other agency spending related to any training on ‘critical race theory,’ ‘white privilege,’ or any other training or propaganda effort that teaches or suggests either (1) that the United States is an inherently racist or evil country or (2) that any race or ethnicity is inherently racist or evil.”

Vought continues, saying that “the Office of Management and Budget will shortly issue more detailed guidance on implementing the President’s directive,” adding that “all agencies should begin to identify all available avenues within the law to cancel any such contracts and/or to divert Federal dollars away from these un-American propaganda training sessions.”

Encyclopaedia Britannica broadly summarizes that CRT is “the view that the law and legal institutions are inherently racist and that race itself, instead of being biologically grounded and natural, is a socially constructed concept that is used by white people to further their economic and political interests at the expense of people of colour.” Conservatives have commonly argued that the theory is “anti-white” and discourages patriotism.

CRT is a concept that has become dramatically popular among left-wing scholars and activists over the past few years. Simultaneously, with that rise in prevalence, the theory has become a target for right-wing thinkers and activists more recently as race has returned to the forefront of national politics this past summer.

TikTok, ByteDance Voluntarily Dismiss Lawsuit Against Trump, Court Document Reads

The Chinse company ByteDance and its video sharing platform TikTok have dropped the lawsuit against US President Donald Trump and the Department of Commerce, a court document showed on Wednesday.

"Please take notice that plaintiffs TikTik Inc and ByteDance Ltd … hereby voluntarily dismiss this action without prejudice as to defendants Donald J. Trump, Wilbur L. Ross and the US Department of Commerce", according to an electronic image of the court document filed by the plaintiffs and seen by Sputnik.

TikTok has been in the news since August after Trump threatened to ban the application in the United States, citing concerns about alleged Chinese government spying on data of US users.

TikTok and ByteDance then sued Trump, saying his administration’s action was without any prior outreach to the company that would give it a chance to respond to the accusations - a violation of the US Constitution and the firm's right to due process.

Trump’s ban of TikTok was originally to take effect on 20 September but has been extended to 12 November as the administration offered the company a one way out by selling itself to a US entity.

Trump has said the software firm Oracle and retail giant Walmart are in the final stages of negotiations for control of TikTok’s equity and technology.

CA Gov. Newsom Announces Ban On All Gas-Powered Cars By 2035

Last week saw California plunged into red-darkness during the day amid raging wildfires, and Governor Newsom decreed that:

"The debate is over, around climate change… This is a climate damn emergency. This is real and it’s happening.”

“I have no patience, and I say this lovingly, not as an ideologue but as someone who prides himself on being open to argument, interested in evidence…but I quite literally have no patience for climate change deniers,” the governor continued.

He said skeptics’ point of view is “completely inconsistent…with the reality on the ground.”

He did briefly acknowledge failings in forest management in recent decades, but added:

“That’s one point, but it’s not the point.”

Oh, but as David Stockman recently noted, drastic forestry mismanagement and negligence, which has turned much of California into a dry wood fuel dump, is exactly the point. The purported global warming has nothing to do with it…

But that has not stopped Newsom from signaling just how virtuous he is by announcing that California will be phasing out all gasoline-powered cars by 2035 in a major effort to reduce the state's emissions.

The governor signed an executive order that requires all new cars and passenger trucks sold in California be zero-emission vehicles by the 2035 deadline.

"This is the most impactful step our state can take to fight climate change," said Newsom in a press release.

"For too many decades, we have allowed cars to pollute the air that our children and families breathe. You deserve to have a car that doesn't give your kids asthma. Our cars shouldn't make wildfires worse - and create more days filled with smoky air. Cars shouldn't melt glaciers or raise sea levels threatening our cherished beaches and coastlines."

As ABC7News.com reports, the executive order lays out several other priorities, including:

New health regulations regarding oil extraction and the communities it impacts

Directing the legislature to no longer issue hydraulic fracking permits by 2024

Directing agencies to create a plan for a statewide rail and transit network

The path forward on Newsom's newly-announced initiative is likely to be a challenge, politically and legally. President Donald Trump has previously tried to bar California from setting auto emission standards that are different from the country's standards.

HTS, White Helmets & Turkish Intelligence To Prepare Chemical Provocation: Damascus

Terrorists in the northwestern region of Greater Idlib are planning a chemical attack against the civilians, a source in the Syrian Foreign Minister told the Syrian Arab News Agency on September 23.

“Terrorists of the so-called Tahrir al-Sham, in coordination with the White Helmets group, and with support of their western masters, have brought 2 tons of chemical substances and stored them in a town to the south of Idlib as they are planning, in cooperation with the Turkish intelligence, to carry out a play using chemical weapons against civilians in Idlib to accuse the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) of the act,” the source said.

The unnamed source warned that Damascus will hold the terrorists’ backers, “the U.S., France, Germany, Netherlands and Turkey,” responsible for any chemical attack on civilians in Greater Idlib.

The aim of the new plot is to provoke a military strike by the U.S. and its allies against the SAA. Two such strikes were carried out in 2017 and 2018.

The Syrian source affirmed that the SAA doesn’t own chemical weapons. The army destroyed its chemical arsenal and production facilities in 2013 under an agreement brokered by Russia. The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons oversaw the execution of the agreement.

In the last two weeks, Russia warned twice that the terrorists are plotting a chemical attack in Greater Idlib. Damascus warning today further confirms this information.

FBI Offers Reward For ‘GirlsDoPorn’ Founder Who Fled After Trafficking, Child Porn Charges

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is asking for the public’s assistance in locating Michael James Pratt and is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to his location and arrest.

From approximately 2012 to October 2019, in the Southern District of California and elsewhere, Michael James Pratt and others allegedly participated in a conspiracy to recruit young adult and minor women to engage in commercial sex acts by force, fraud and coercion. Pratt and a co-conspirator owned and operated a pornography production company and online pornography websites, “GirlsDoPorn” and “GirlsDoToys.” Pratt and his co-conspirators allegedly recruited young women from around the United States by posting advertisements for clothed modeling jobs on the Internet. Pratt and his co-conspirators advised the women responding to the ads that the jobs were in fact for pornographic videos and that they would be paid between $3,000 to $5,000 U.S. dollars for a one-day video shoot. To persuade the women to participate, Pratt and his co-conspirators allegedly convinced the women they would remain anonymous, that their videos ​would be provided to private collectors on DVD, and would not be posted on the Internet. Pratt allegedly paid other young women working at his direction to act as references or provide false assurances to the women that, if they filmed a video, the video would not be posted online. Some ​women were not permitted to leave the shooting locations until the videos were made ​and ​others were allegedly forced to perform certain sex acts they had declined to do. Allegedly, some of the women were sexually assaulted. ​Pratt’s pornography websites generated more than $17 million U.S. dollars in revenue. A federal arrest warrant was issued for Pratt in the United States District Court, Southern District of California, on November 6, 2019.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of Michael James Pratt.

Pratt has ties to or may visit: New Zealand, Australia, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Singapore, Japan, Chile, Croatia, and France.

Study: The Average American is Filmed by At Least an Estimated 238 Security Cameras a Week

Surveillance technology isn’t new, but there has been an exponential increase in the number of security cameras deployed throughout the United States and around the world. CNBC reports that there will be an estimated one billion security cameras filming around the world by 2021, with somewhere between 10-18% of those being in the United States alone.

When calculated on a per-person basis, this is the second-highest ratio of security cameras to population in the world. CBS News reported in 2019 that second to China, the US has at least one security camera filming for every 4.6 people, compared to one camera for every 4.1 people in China.

Below, our research on how many times one might be filmed by security cameras each day is based on IPUMS Time Use data and spread out over the course of an average week:

At Home or Around the Neighborhood

Just a few short years ago this one was likely much closer to zero than most of the examples, it might be the one consumers will see jump the highest in the near future. The advent of doorbell cameras becoming the norm for many people thinking about home security means an exponential increase in the number of times they might end up on camera, both on their own home security system but also while walking through the neighborhood where other homeowners might have their own system set up.

Driving

This is by far the way most people end up on camera throughout the day since most major intersections now have cameras. And while it’s difficult to know how many are actively and permanently storing their recordings (less common) versus passive use for traffic data analysis (more common), with the average driver commuting just over 29 miles a day, research suggests that the average driver will drive through over 20 cameras a day.

During Work Hours

While filming employees at work is a complicated legal area, the fact remains that a substantial number of people are being filmed by security cameras every day in their workplace. It’s important to note specifically the drastic range that can occur for those in the workforce as some people are likely filmed hundreds of times while at work as is the case in retail or perhaps transportation, as compared to those working in offices where there might be a single camera at the entrance, if at all. We took this into account as best as possible to find the most accurate average.

Shopping or Running Errands

The average person goes grocery shopping approximately two times per week, and might conduct other errands in retail establishments once or twice a week as well. It is the norm now to see dozens of cameras in any given store these days, as retailers try to deter theft and other criminal behavior in their stores.

The Normalization of Being on Camera

One thing to note about our study is the drastic underestimation by most US residents of how many times they are being filmed each day. A survey conducted in 2016 found that the majority of people assumed they were being recorded or filmed less than five times a day.

One area for future study will be to gauge the sentiment toward this volume of security camera exposure to see how US residents feel about being recorded as often as they are.

Notes:

It’s important to note that while we found an average we are comfortable reporting on, the swings both directions can be drastic. There are people, as an example those who frequently travel by air, or work in high security environments, who might be on camera easily over 1,000 times a week, while there are plenty of jobs and careers that might make it so someone entirely avoids being recorded during their average week.

We expect this number to continually increase and normalize the presence of security cameras as technology and facial recognition improves.

3-Count Felon, JPMorgan Chase, Caught Laundering More Dirty Money

The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) has once again managed to do what federal bank regulators refuse to do in the United States – come clean with the American people about our dirty Wall Street banks.

ICIJ dropped a bombshell investigative report yesterday about money laundering for criminals at some of the biggest banks on Wall Street, but you won’t find a peep about it on the front page of today’s Wall Street Journal or New York Times’ print editions. In fact, the New York Times, as of 6:44 a.m. this morning, hasn’t reported the story at all. The Wall Street Journal carries an innocuous headline, “HSBC Stock Hits 25-Year Low,” putting the focus on the British bank, HSBC, when its focus should be on the largest bank in the U.S., JPMorgan Chase, a serial felon.

JPMorgan Chase has already pleaded guilty to three criminal felony counts brought by the U.S. Department of Justice since 2014. Two of those counts related to money laundering and failure to file suspicious activity reports on the business bank account it held for Bernie Madoff for decades. JPMorgan Chase actually told U.K. regulators that it suspected Madoff was running a Ponzi scheme but it failed to share those concerns with U.S. regulators, even though it was required under law to do so.

The third felony count brought by the U.S. Department of Justice came one year later, in 2015. It related to JPMorgan’s involvement in a bank cartel that was engaged in rigging foreign exchange trading. The bank is currently under a criminal investigation for allowing its precious metals desk to be turned into a racketeering enterprise according to the Justice Department. Multiple JPMorgan precious metals traders have already been charged under the RICO statute, typically reserved for members of organized crime.

The ICIJ investigation is based on secret documents leaked from FinCEN, the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, a unit of the U.S. Treasury. The documents “show that five global banks — JPMorgan, HSBC, Standard Chartered Bank, Deutsche Bank and Bank of New York Mellon — kept profiting from powerful and dangerous players even after U.S. authorities fined these financial institutions for earlier failures to stem flows of dirty money.”

JPMorgan Chase was involved in moving illicit funds for the fugitive, Jho Low, involving the notorious looting of public funds in Malaysia. Jho Low has been accused by multiple jurisdictions of playing a key role in the embezzlement of more than $4.5 billion from a Malaysian economic development fund, 1MDB. JPMorgan Chase moved $1.2 billion in money for Jho Low from 2013 to 2016, according to the report.
