Honestly, seeking of the guidance of the Holy Spirit is a good idea if you are pursuing a genuine path of inquiry.

This is my opinion on the matter as I understand if from scripture:

Drug use for the purpose of "getting enlightened" or opening a door to "higher consciousness" is pharmakeia and is forbidden. Drinking a glass of wine with a meal is not pharmakeia.

Getting novocaine in your mouth for dental work is not pharmakeia.

Snorting a line of cocaine is not the same as taking advil for a headache.

There are appropriate uses, and inappropriate uses. A serious chemical imbalance that benefits from careful administration of a medicine to control the imbalance is entirely different from taking something with the intent of altering perception and "reaching new horizons."

We live in a fallen world. Things are broken. That includes us. Be cautious and measured and train the ear to hear the advice that comes from the Spirit and scripture in each matter.
