"A Kyiv court said that a Ukrainian lawmaker and a top anticorruption official’s decision in 2016 to publish documents linked to President Donald Trump’s then-campaign chairman amounted to interference in the U.S. presidential election."

The Ukranian lawmaker who alleged that documents were illegally released named Artem Sytnyk and Serhiy Leshchenko as the people who released them. As far as whether or not the White House (Obama) knew, I'd say yes since they both apparently visited the WH; Leschenko in December 2015 with two other people and Sytnyk in January 2016 with six other people.

Sytnyk's WH meeting included the DOJ’s Regional Director for Eurasia from the Office of Prosecutorial Development and Training, Catherine Newcombe. Also included was Jeffrey Cole, Resident Legal Advisor US Embassy in Ukraine, a federal prosecutor. (To be fair, I can't confirm that it was THIS Jeff Cole, but in context, it's the one who makes sense.) Also listed as a meeting participant is Andriy Telizhenko, the same guy that Giuliani is working with to unravel this mess.

Syntyk's meeting was hosted by Eric Ciaramella. Ciaramella was McMaster's assistant (National Security Council) and was accused of being a leaker.

Leschenko's meeting was hosted by Mike Carpenter:

Michael Carpenter is senior director of the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement. He is a former deputy assistant secretary of defense for Russia, Ukraine, and Eurasia and foreign policy advisor to Vice President Joe Biden. Follow him on Twitter: @mikercarpenter.

So two guys acused of illegally publishing documents meant to interfere in our election meet at the whitehouse with US representatives from DOJ, DOS and NSC and Biden's foreign policy advisor in late 2015/early 2016. Nothing to see here.

AND

Jeffrey Cole did a lecture on Monday, 3 October 2016 titled "How US Criminal Justice System Protects Human Rights" which was organized by The Centre for International Human Rights, Law School, NaUKMA and Embassy of the USA in Ukraine.

Two other speakers are listed: Sharon Woo, Prosecutor, San-Francisco (state prosecutor) and Joseph Huynh, Resident Legal Advisor, US Embassy in Serbia (federal prosecutor). Just seems odd that of all the prosecutors in the world, one from San Francisco was chosen to speak. [Woo called out the compromised crime lab tech in San Fran. during Kamala Harris' reign.
