President Trump's Niece Sues Family Claiming She Was "Defrauded" Of Inheritance

With her uncle Robert now deceased, President Trump's niece, Mary Trump, has committed to her scorched-earth campaign to embarrass her uncle, the president, in a way that - she probably hoped - might stir up legal action and possibly impact the election.

Various investigations into President Trump's financial dealings continue, but apparently Mary Trump - who reported in her book that her uncle once complimenter "her figure" by exclaiming 'Wow, Mary. You're stacked' after seeing her in a bathing suit - didn't provoke the response she was hoping for.

Apparently unwilling to give up just yet, she and her legal team have decided to file a lawsuit against her uncle accusing him and his siblings of conspiring to keep her from receiving her share of her inheritance. Mary is the daughter of Trump's deceased brother Freddy, the family's purported black sheep, who died of alcoholism-related complications in his early 40s.

CNN, which got the scoop on the lawsuit filing, reports that in the filing, Mary Trump's lawyers argue that she was defrauded by her relatives not out of spite but simply because that's what they do.

In the lawsuit, filed in New York state court against the President, his sister Maryanne Trump Barry and the estate of their late brother Robert Trump, Mary Trump asserts that for the Trumps, "fraud was not just the family business—it was a way of life."

The lawsuit accuses her two uncles and her aunt, a retired federal judge, of conspiring amongst themselves and with several other parties, including a trustee appointed to act on Mary's behalf, to give her "a stack of fraudulent valuations" and force her to sign a settlement agreement that "fleeced her of tens of millions of dollars or more."

"Rather than protect Mary's interests, they designed and carried out a complex scheme to siphon funds away from her interests, conceal their grift, and deceive her about the true value of what she had inherited," the lawsuit says.

The lawsuit appears to be based partly on aspects of the Trump's family inheritence that were first reported by the NYT two years ago.

Other accusations were initially detailed in Mary Trump's book: "Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World's Most Dangerous Man." Unsurprisingly, it has been a best-seller.

CNN relitigates the allegations in detail in its report (you can find that here if you're curious), but the gist is that her uncles Donald and Robert worked together with her aunt Maryanne Trump Barry to become the sole executors of their father's estate. They then used all sorts of tricks and schemes, according to the lawsuit, to siphon money away from her late father Fred Trump Jr.'s estate, disguising some of the dealings as legitimate business.

GOP Rep. Jim Jordan Sends Letter to Director Wray Demanding to Know if FBI is Investigating Hunter Biden’s Crimes

Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH) sent Director Wray a letter Thursday morning demanding answers on whether the FBI is investigating Hunter Biden’s crimes.

The Senate Finance and Homeland Security Committees released a devastating report on Hunter Biden, Burisma and corruption Wednesday morning.

The crooked Biden family enriched themselves and Barack Obama knew.

According to the senate report:

Hunter Biden received $3.5 million in wire transfers from Elena Baturina, the wife of former mayor of Moscow, Yuri Luzhkov (a known Putin associate)

Hunter Biden reportedly paid “thousand of dollars” to individuals involved in human trafficking and prostitution, including non-resident alien women in the US who are citizens of Russia or Ukraine!

Hunter Biden had business associations with Ye Jianming, Gongwen Dong, and other Chinese nationals linked to the Communist government and the People’s Liberation Army. Those associations resulted in millions of dollars in cash flow

Jim Jordan asked Director Wray if the FBI is investigating Hunter Biden’s crimes and corruption.

Prominent Hong Kong Activist Joshua Wong Arrested For Breaking 'National Security' Law

In the latest Hong Kong crackdown on a major dissident figure over actions dating back to the 2019 pro-democracy protests, Hong Kong student-protest leader Joshua Wong has been arrested again on Thursday in what he says is the third case against him related to his activism.

The Associated Press reports that Wong was arrested when he went to check in at Hong Kong's Central Police Station in keeping with his bail requirements.

Wong and his team broke the news in a tweet sent after he left the police station on bail once again. As the tweet states, the charges under the new national security law pertain to an Oct. 5 "unauthorized assembly." Wong is also accused of violating HK Chief Executive Carrie Lam's anti-mask order.

Wong gained international notoriety for his work as a leader of the 2014 Umbrella Movement. However, he took a mostly low-key role in the leaderless pro-democracy demonstrations that carried on for the latter half of last year.

Wong rose to prominence as a student leader during the 2014 Umbrella Movement protests for universal suffrage, and is among a growing number of activists being charged for various relatively minor offenses since Beijing imposed a sweeping national security law on the territory that has severely restricted political speech.

He played a low-key role in mostly leaderless and sometimes violent anti-government protests last year that led to Beijing imposing the security law. However, with Beijing's encouragement, Hong Kong authorities have been pursuing charges against major opposition figures for illegal assembly and other minor infractions in what some call a campaign to harass and intimidate.

Wong's arrest follows the latest arrest of Hong Kong media mogul Jimmy Lai, whose company, Next Digital, runs one of HK's largest newspapers, which has taken a firmly independent, pro-democracy line.

Both Wong and Lai have vowed to resist the measures taken under the new national security law, which gives authorities broad latitude to punish anyone for pro-democracy speech, which Beijing views as "terroristic" and "seccessionist" rhetoric, encouraged by foreign agitators.

Europe’s LOCKDOWN will kill more people worldwide than Covid-19 virus, German minister warns

Anti-coronavirus measures will have significantly more severe consequences than the disease itself, especially in developing countries, Germany’s Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development Gerd Muller warned.

The grim prognosis was made by the German official in an interview with the Handelsblatt daily. The pandemic has already triggered “one of the biggest” hunger and poverty crises across the world, Muller said – and further damage will be done thanks to the measures taken to battle it.

We expect an additional 400,000 deaths from malaria and HIV this year on the African continent alone, while half a million more will die from tuberculosis.

The situation stems from the fact that the West, and the EU in particular, has funneled its relief efforts into battling the coronavirus at home instead of helping the impoverished elsewhere. The Covid-19 pandemic has somewhat blinded the West, which has lost sight of the mounting problems in the rest of the world, Muller argued.

“The supply of food and medication is no longer guaranteed,” he said. “Many of the West’s aid programs are not adequately funded.”

Ultimately, the neglect of the developing world’s problems will come back to bite the West, the minister believes. The EU and Germany in particular are looking at “humanitarian catastrophes” that are “building up right on our doorstep.”

“Europe has decided to support its own economy with programs worth around two trillion euros. No additional support is planned for Africa. That will catch up with us,” Muller added.

The minister did not rule out a new wave of mass migration coming as a result of the coronavirus and the fight against it, as the West’s neglect of developing regions is set to create poverty, wars and, as a result, a fresh flow of refugees.

While the minister still sees Covid-19 as a global challenge, he believes it will ultimately hit the “poorest of the poor” the hardest.

Worldwide, the number of confirmed coronavirus infections is hovering below the 32 million mark, with nearly a million people having already succumbed to the disease, according to the latest statistics by Johns Hopkins University. The US, India and Brazil remain the three worst-hit nations, amounting for over a half of the global cases.

Among African nations, however, only South Africa sits among the top-10 Covid-affected countries with over 660,000 confirmed cases. Still, low coronavirus numbers in Africa could be a result of insufficient testing and the real situation on the ground might be significantly worse.

“Violence Has No Home in Portland” – Clown Mayor Ted Wheeler Crawls out from under Rock and Condemns “Alt-Right Groups” Planned Protest in Portland

On Wednesday night anttifa-BLM mob set off the Mother-of-All-Molotov Bombs in downtown Portland.

BLM-Antifa has been rioting in Portland for over 100 straight days.

The radical left has destroyed downtown Portland and what is not destroyed is boarded up.

This happens while clown show Mayor Ted Wheeler looks the other way.

But while Wheeler gives the BLM mob a pass he will not stand for “alt-right groups” protesting in his city.

The Proud Boys are planning to hold a rally in Portland this weekend.

The Proud Boys have never instigated an attack against the far left – but they have finished a few.

Mayor Ted Wheeler posted a tweet denouncing the Proud Boys from assembling in his city.

Of course, it is their constitutional right to assemble in public.

Mayor Wheeler says, “Violence has no home in Portland.”

What a joke!

Facebook Launches Long-Promised 'Oversight Board' Before US Election

Facebook is planning to move ahead with the launch of its "Supreme Court-style" oversight committee - which Sen. Josh Hawley has lambasted as Facebook's 'special censorship committee' - according to a report published Thursday morning in the FT.

Just days after the UK business broadsheet reported that Facebook was planning for dozens of election-night contingency scenarios, including - presumably - shutting down any official or unofficial accounts that suggest President Trump won't accept the results of the election, an issue that has sent liberals into a tizzy after Trump again joked about refusing to leave the White House.

The oversight board, which was first mentioned by Zuckerberg in November 2018, will start accepting cases from mid-to-late October. Of course, the rules of the committee allow 90 days for review, meaning decisions on issues taken up before and during the vote might not be resolved until early next year. Though the board will process cases submitted by users and from within Facebook, it will have an "expedited" option that the company can deploy to demand a quicker turnaround on a given decision.

Back in May, Facebook announced the members, including major figures from across the political spectrum, including Alan Rusbridger, the former editor of the Guardian newspaper, to John Samples, vice-president of the libertarian think-tank, the Cato Institute.

While the review board will be in place, Facebook cautioned that it won't be the primary mechanism via which the social media platform 'self-polices' for censoring "harmful" speech, like 'premature' claims of victory from Trump.

The board's focus will be entirely "forward looking," according to a report from Politico published in May.

870,000 Americans Filed For First-Time Unemployment Benefits Last Week

870,000 Americans filed for first-time unemployment claims last week, slightly worse than the prior week's and expectations.

As a reminder, last week's jobless claims are four times the pre-COVID-Lockdown average!

New York was the worst state along with Georgia as California begins to 'normalize' (see below). Illinois and Michigan saw the best improvements last week…

Bear in mind that this past week was also payroll-survey week.

Of course, as we detailed previously, the numbers are heavily skewed by the fraud and backlogs in California. As The Epoch Times' Sarah Le reports, California officials said it may take until Jan. 27, 2021, for the state’s Employment Development Department (EDD) to work its way through a massive backlog of unemployment cases accumulated during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The EDD implemented a “two week reset” starting Sept. 19 to address the issue, among others, and said the agency would stop accepting new unemployment claims during that time.

The reset takes place after months of delays in processing applications and allegations of rampant fraud. The move provoked outrage among some state politicians.

The state has about 600,000 unemployment applications more than 21 days old that have not yet been processed, according to the EDD. Another 1 million Californians have received payments from the state, but have since modified their claims and are awaiting a review to continue receiving benefits.

Lawsuit blames Facebook for Kenosha violence, claims it failed to prevent ‘calls to arms’ from spreading

A lawsuit has been filed against Facebook with the Wisconsin federal court. The social media giant stands accused of enabling the Kenosha shooting by allowing “white supremacists” to “thrive” on its platform.

Facebook has failed to promptly remove the so-called militias “Kenosha Guard” and “Boogaloo Bois” from the social network, the lawsuit filed by four activists, including Hannah Gittings, a partner of Anthony Huber killed in the Kenosha shooting, said. The tech giant allowed the groups to “recruit” new members through violent racist rhetoric and “publicly displayed” a desire to kill Black Lives Matter (BLM) protesters, it added.

The incident occurred in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on August 25 during riots sparked by the earlier police shooting of an African American, Jacob Blake, which left him paralyzed.

“The enabling and empowering of militias to conspire with its platform and tools allows white supremacist groups to recruit, organize, and thrive, while Facebook continues to profit from their activities, and those who fight for social justice continue to die.”

The tech giant’s inaction allowed the two groups to issue “calls to arms” and summon their followers to Kenosha, where a standoff with the BLM protesters ended with two people fatally shot and one more injured, allegedly by Kyle Rittenhouse, the suit claims.

Facebook did not remove “Kenosha Guard” until after the deadly shooting despite reportedly receiving over 400 complaints over its content. Some media reports suggested that the page was deleted by its moderators and not by the social network’s administration. Later, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg blamed the whole situation on an “operational mistake.”

A spokesperson for the social media giant told US media that it deleted “the shooter’s Facebook and Instagram accounts and took action against organizations and content related to Kenosha” while adding that the company “found no evidence that suggests the shooter followed the Kenosha Guard Page or that he was invited to the Event Page they organized.”

10,000 a day contracting Covid-19 in UK says Health Minister Hancock, as he urges people to download new tracing app

Up to 10,000 people a day are contracting Covid-19 in Britain, Health Secretary Matt Hancock has said, adding that the number is still fewer than the “100,000 per day” estimated during the spring peak.

The statement came after recorded infections rose by 6,178 overnight, the highest daily spike in coronavirus cases since May 1.

The government estimates that “it is under 10,000 people a day getting the disease,” Hancock told Sky News on Thursday. “That’s too high but it is still much lower than in the peak,” he added.

“The massive testing capability we’ve got helps to find where the virus is,” the secretary noted. He added that the government can “do the contact tracing for everyone who has tested positive and find who they’ve been in contact with.”

Every person who downloads the NHS coronavirus contact-tracing app will be helping “make the country a safer place,” according to Hancock. “Even if only two people download the app and they came into close contact, and one tested positive, then it would work for the other.”

The smartphone app was launched in England and Wales on Thursday, four months after the technology was announced. The app allows users to trace contacts, check the local level of risk and record visits to venues such as pubs – but many people question its effectiveness.

The app is being offered as Britain braces for a second wave of infections. Daily case numbers are rising at rates not seen since the peak of the pandemic and, in many areas, the testing system is unable to cope with demand. Scotland and Northern Ireland have launched their own contact-tracing apps.

Meanwhile, Hancock did not rule out the possibility that university students would have to stay away from home over Christmas amid coronavirus concerns. “We don’t rule out anything. It’s not something that I want to do,” Hancock told BBC on Thursday.

Speaking about the economic side of Britain’s coronavirus crisis on LBC Radio, Hancock said that the finance minister will provide as much support for jobs as possible when he announces his economic winter plan later in the day. “What you can be assured of is that we’ll put in as much economic support to help people get through this as feasibly possible,” Hancock added.

Two Daily Caller reporters arrested during Louisville protests

The reporters were there covering a live news story as it unfolded

Two reporters from the conservative website the Daily Caller were arrested during the protests in Louisville, Kentucky, Wednesday night, and thus far authorities in Louisville appear determined to detain and charge them just like other suspects who were arrested as part of a mass sweep to enforce the city's curfew.

The report from the Daily Caller indicates that reporters Shelby Talcott and Jorge Ventura were arrested as part of a massive sweep conducted by police, who reportedly did not respond to the reporters' repeated insistence that they were members of the press.

Prior to their arrest, Ventura and Talcott recorded and tweeted some of the scenes of chaos in Louisville as they unfolded.

Wednesday night, Daily Caller Editor-in-Chief Geoffrey Ingersoll tweeted that he had notified the Louisville Metro Police Department that Talcott and Ventura were members of the press and that he expected them to be released shortly. Later, however, Ingersoll expressed his frustration that the Daily Caller's reporters were going to be processed in exactly the same manner as the rioters they were covering.

However, as of Thursday, the reporters had not been released and no one from the Daily Caller had been permitted to talk to either Talcott or Ventura, leading Daily Caller co-founder Neil Patel to criticize the treatment of the Caller's reporters and to threaten a lawsuit if the reporters were not permitted to exercise their First Amendment right to report on an ongoing news story.

In the thread, Patel noted that, unlike other media outlets, the Daily Caller has taken care to interview police and get their side of the story and tell it in a balanced way.

Patel concluded his thread with a warning: "The Louisville Police Department (@LMPD) is going to find out all about this in the form of a lawsuit unless things start changing fast."

The Louisville Metro Police Department did not immediately return a request for comment on this story.
