Surface or remain submerged and fire a torp @ a surface target ? Not that familiar with sub surface navy.
I do know you do not fly an ILS for PAR instructions.
I imagine passive acoustics have gotten to the point where targeting can be achieved w/o visual confirmation. A rock solid acoustic file of known targets signatures would be required though.
