Oregon Governor Kate Brown announced Friday morning that Oregon State Police, Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, and Portland Police Bureau will be working together as a unified force Saturday to protect people during the protests expected in Portland. The three agencies will be allowed to use CS gas if necessary.
This Saturday, the right-wing Proud Boys group plan to meet for a rally at Delta Park, although the Portland Parks Bureau has denied their permit, citing coronavirus safety violations.

Earlier in the week, Oregon State Police and Multnomah County Sheriff's Office said they would not assist Portland Police Bureau with the protests due to Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler's ban on the use of tear gas. The governor said she is superseding that order and will allow officers to use CS gas Saturday.
