Exactly.

It doesn't "prevent mind control". It does fuck up the programming though.

You remember things differently when you're under its influence.

 

The issue is it can cause avoidance behavior in some people, but ultimately your level of motivation is up to you.

Another potential con to its use is a deeper introspection, which, if used by someone who would be negatively affected by increased introspection, could be somewhat troublesome.
