Brought up the same concern earlier. It was explained to me that the post numbers cover the whole board. If anons are posting in other threads, like dropping memes, it's going to make the numbers jump in THIS thread. A reasonable explanation. Tremendous slide of the board came when everyone chimed in on this topic. Go back a thread and have a look see.
