I read books on education and critics of the system for many years have pointed this out
The Science textbooks are a racket
The teacher has to publish
And then they sell the book to the school
So there are a lot of shitty books out there; textbooks, that students are required to read, and the smart ones won't be able to tolerate it.
Except by holding their nose, and create an allergy to learning and to books which will become permanent
